My Screwed Up Little Mind
Because I'm better than you are!.......Not
PW Chap 7
I woke up again…except this time in a dream. In that dream, I was in a dark forest, and in the background I could hear the voice of someone. It was so sad…yet beautiful; I was drawn to that thing. When I arrived there though, I simply saw that person once more, alike to me and yet…not. I could see that number on his arm, 01. He reached out to me, his skin was so soft so I’d shivered when he touched my own bare lower neck. Once our foreheads touched he looked at me, smiled and said, “Once more?” Then…I woke up beside my Master…my arm hurting, the side with the number 02.

Duo awoke beside his Master, who still happened to be sleeping. At the moment, Duo had been dressed thinly in one of his Master’s long shirts…and that was just about it; but of course the robotic child didn’t mind. Sure enough Seif awoke, his sleepy silver eyes adjusting to the lack of light. “Sheesh…even now this place is so dark eh?” “Y-Yes…” “I feel a little bad…you wearing so little…I mean you’ve had to wear the same thing since we found you…we left too early to get you real clothes…” “I don’t mind, such trivial things…Master doesn’t need to worry about them.” Duo said with a gentle smile. Lifting him up as though he weighed no less than a pillow, Seif walked out of their room to see a certain woman. “Come with me…I’d like to dress that boy~” she sang. Seif followed, somewhat knowing that it couldn’t be that bad. “Alright…for now I’m going to have to rip him from your arms yea? Oh yea and…no peeking!” she said with a pout. Within a few moments, the Radiant emerged, dressed in what seemed to be a uniform. “I figured black would complement him more…plus the shorts make it easier for him to move…this boy has amazing potential ya know?” “Why are you doing this for us?” Seif couldn’t help but ask. “Oh…I have new outfits for each of you…I just figured since you were the first up…well maybe not the first. That old horsie came down too but…he’s outside.” Spira explained. Seif wagged his tail, “Can I…see mine?” “You can wear it honey, just come with me.” Within the next few hours the group was all dressed to go venturing but of course before they left, the leader had more questions. “Where are we supposed to go now?” “Hm, agreed…I’m a bit confused myself…” Shay added. “Let’s…see…you should probably head to the city as Helio mentioned before. He happens to have an issue that I think would be just perfect for you to solve~” she sang. Just like that, the group was thrown out of the manor, forced to find their way out of the forest and somehow end up in the capital city. Upon entering, police officers surrounded them, guns at their throats. “No demons or elves may enter this sacred place, I’m sorry but you will now fully surrender by holding up your hands.” Cicerio rolled his pretty blues and pulled out a beautiful looking necklace. “This is the Holy Emerald, it acknowledges that I am the Prince of the Forest, these people are a mixture of my servants and guards. I have come to request an audience with the king here.” “Well if you were truly the Prince then you would know that no other species besides human is allowed here, royal or not. And by entering you are breaking our rules, so we acknowledge the fact that you are now to be thrown into jail.” Cice gritted his teeth and tightened his fists, “Are you all mad??! By denying me my right to an audience…your king is essentially saying that he’s not only racist but looking for war as well! How dare you!” the child barked. The soldier shot a bolt of electricity from his gun, causing the Prince to collapse. Eden knelt beside him, “Cicerio…” “Milady…forgive me but it seems we have to split up here…keep your features hidden from these men…” he whispered. Eden, Eemil, Helio, Duo and Prisca of course were the only ones not taken away because their features were not visible or even there. Alas though, they were forced to watch as the poor boys were dragged off to prison. “What’re we supposed to do? We can’t just leave them there!” Prisca pouted. “In this type of situation, it is best to address the issue head on.” Helio replied, already walking off in another direction. The group of children followed behind him Eden asking the first obvious question. “Where are we going?” “To speak with His Highness of course.” The Pegasus answered without looking. “We can’t just barge in! Won’t there be guards to stop us?” Eemil questioned. “Yes, but they’ll let me pass.” “How come?” asked Duo. “Because…I am a noble, and I happen to have great ties with the royal family. Just as Eemil had said, guards had blocked the entrance, guns pointed at the group. “No visitors.” The lead said. “Ah, good day to you gentlemen…perhaps it has been sometime since you’ve seen me but I am allowed to come in this place. I am Heliosa de Val, tutor to the royal family?” The men immediately lowered their weapons and bowed, “Forgive us Master Val, we didn’t know since your appearance has…changed but as per regulations, we have to ask who these people are with you?” “Ah yes of course. The little boy here is my slave, and the three others are soon to be presents to the little ones within the castle. They are…dolls in a way.” He explained. Of course Duo, Eden and Prisca gave him the same angry look of death but Eemil didn’t mind his role. “Very...well, you may enter then.” The soldiers said, lowering their weapons and allowing the group to pass. They were then directed to the thrown room where sitting in a large chair sat a rather sickly looking man. “Ah….this man reeks of death…” Prisca whispered, covering her nose. Helio bowed and gave a casual smile. “Hello Your Highness, been awhile eh?” Of course the man didn’t even move, much less respond. Instead a familiar looking woman entered the room, wearing a long black dress. She gasped, “Oh my! If it isn’t my cute little Eden! What are you doing here? And you’ve got a whole new pair of companions I might add…so then…where did everyone go?” She asked. “We...split up. They went there separate ways and I went mine.” She lied confidently. “Oh I see…so then tell me…who is this lovely piece of work behind you?” Yadra questioned. “It’s Duo ma’am…” the boy answered shyly. “Uh-huh…well just know that all of you are certainly welcome back.” “Thank you Your Highness but…I’m afraid I have business with MY king if you don’t mind.” Helio calmly replied. “Oh well then whatever you say can be directed to me, after all I do have official custody of this land now~” she sang with a wicked smile. “That’s…not possible dear madam. You see the king does happen to have three sons…one of them being older than you, and completely stable I might add.” “Hmph, that sounds like a bit of an attack to me~ So, who would you be?” asked the princess. “Sir Heliosa, I happen to be the royal family’s personal tutor. And as such…I also get certain rights, if His Highness happens to be incapacitated…as stated per this document.” Helio stated, taking out a somewhat old looking document. “Why didn’t you tell the guards you had something like this? They would’ve set brother free!” Eemil whispered. “I know that but…I needed to confirm my suspicions about this one here…” he whispered back. Yadra growled then called for someone. A nearby door opened, revealing the graceful figure of a lifeless looking boy. “Verify this now!” she yelled at the servant. The light blonde paused then stared at the paper for a brief moment. “This document has not been falsified milady. According to it, he does hold the current status as King of this land until the prince makes himself present.” He said. “Hm…I see…well then Suo, looks like we’ll have to rethink our strategy then eh?” “Yes…Your Highness.” The boy lifelessly answered. “Hey Duo, can you like…scan that boy beside her?” Eemil asked. The robot nodded and in a moment he entered a trance. “Name…Suo. Type, Radiant model number 01….” He whispered. “Y-You have a Radiant?!” Prisca gasped. “Indeed I do, though he’s pretty faulty and messed up if you ask me. How did you get yours to work so well eh?” she asked, poking Duo. “The story said that the first was…killed though…where did you find him?” “Underground duh! This thing was just practically in pieces though…but it turned on and that’s all I cared about. Problem was that a little while later…he was hacked; now I wonder who could do that.” Duo clenched his fists, but before he could speak up Helio stole his words. “I’d appreciate it if you would leave MY castle now madam. I’m sure you have…people to talk to, things to conquer, etcetera, etcetera.” “I think I’ll stay here in town a little while longer, just to see what…happens to the new King Helio~” she laughed. As she disappeared, the children all looked to the adult for guidance. “What exactly are you going to do?” “I knew the real king wouldn’t be able to move, that’s why I called you all here in the first place. I need you to help me find his sons, and quickly before that witch has me assassinated.” “Right.” One by one the children made their way to various parts of the castle except Eden who stayed in the throne room, eyeing the un-moving king. She gulped and delicately touched the man’s hand. In her mind was the once lively king. He had been laughing, smiling, and then…an unfamiliar male figure came into vision. The two were bickering, constantly it seemed until Yadra appeared. Eden backed away from the chair, gasping for breath. “She…poisoned this poor man…when he was at his most vulnerable…” Upon standing, she left the castle doors and began searching for the wretched Queen. “Hm? If it isn’t the adorable cotton candy, come to visit me?” Yadra asked. “Why would you go and poison that poor man?! What has he ever done to you?!” she demanded. “Various reasons, but seeing as your visions aren’t powerful enough to hear what we were talking about…it seems I have to educate you. That man was miserable that his son despised him, he wanted a way to ease the pain so…I helped him. What crime am I being accused of here?” she asked, a wicked smile on her face. “You…are a cruel and heartless monster!” Eden shouted. The Queen laughed, then she gave that all too familiar smirk. “Poor, poor child. Locked away in her life of innocence I see. No matter though…that’ll change quite soon at the rate you’re going. Then we’ll see who’s calling the kettle black hm?” As the Queen walked away with the Radiant child in tow, Eden could faintly hear the sound of his own heart; begging for help.

“Give it up you fool, you’re obviously not getting anywhere so give it a rest already…” Cicerio grumbled. Seif had probably tried every possible way to try and get the bars to move, or even give a slight twitch; but his efforts were proving futile…and annoying. Of course Seif merely ignored the child and kept slamming his body against the bars of metal, only to get shocked by an unknown force. “Damn…what the hell are these things made of?” “Magic maybe?” Shay guessed. “Substance identified as magic.” A familiar voice described. “Duo! Thank goodness you’re okay! How did you get in here!?” Seif asked. The Radiant unlocked the door, “Helio. Apparently he has connections but he told me not to ask questions.” He replied. “Hmph, sounds like it’s worth investigating to me…” Cice whispered darkly. “A project then Your Highness?” Shay guessed. “But of course.” “Where are Eden and the others?” “Eemil is with Helio making castle preparations; Prisca said she was going to tinker in the castle some while Eden said she wanted to go out on some sort of walk?” “Hm….” Outside meanwhile the pink-haired beauty sat amongst the magnolia flowers, feeling the various visions of the town. ‘W-W-What’s going on…why can’t I control them anymore?’ she thought to herself, tightly clutching her forehead. “Poor child, don’t you know what you are?” Eden looked up to see a young man, his ears the same exact shape as hers. “A-A-Ah! Y-Y-You h-h-have…t-t-the same ears as…me…” “Because, I’m just the same as you, Miss Eden~” “Really?” “Yep, you see I was sent here in order to be your…teacher~” “Teacher?” “Yes, you see our visions are very, very powerful.” “How powerful?” “Back in the days of old, our kind new everything about the world before it was going to happen.” He answered. “Even…their end?” “Ah…perhaps. But what I want to do is teach you about your abilities, and your first test…is to touch Duo.” “Touch Duo, why?” she wondered. “Because, you need to first learn to control premonitions on living beings, trust me it’ll end up becoming very important.” So just as the stranger said, Eden found the Radiant and ever so gently she held his hand. A flood of different things entered her mind. Surrounding her was now a world of numbers and various strange symbols. “H-Hello?” Eden asked. Of course the only thing that replied was the sound of silence, “This place…where am I?” ‘What is my…function?’ a familiar voice echoed. “Eh? Duo! Duo, can you hear me?” ‘Duo’s function is to serve Master…at all costs. And to protect...the password Duo isn’t sure…Duo isn’t sure what his function is, won’t Master help me? Won’t anyone help me? What about my big brother, who will help him? Will he have to live without a Master? Then…what would be the point of his existence? Will I have to erase my brother or can we save him too? Is there a way for me to be human? I want to know the warmth of another…if I could ever get that close to Master, I want to know…’ Eden managed to force herself out of the estranged space but Duo was on the ground. “Duo! Duo wake up!” “Re-initializing…data load…memory load…checking for foreign entities, check up/upgrade complete.” He said blankly. “Duo?” His eyes once again returned with their lovely light, but he looked around. “What…happened? It felt like I was being…hacked…” he said, touching his forehead. ‘I-I-I was in Duo’s mind…is that what my premonitions can do now? What’s…happening…?’
