The Story
VI. The Return
As I walked back up the mountains I was ever alert. The dragons at my side were my only comfort. It was about a week's worth of travel but I finally made it to the bandit's camp. I got down as low as I could and looked about for Rathis, but he was no where in sight. I was about to crawl over to where the jails were, suspecting he might be there, when I heard voices. I rolled over behind a rock and made myself as small as possible.
"We've been looking forever. There's no way possible he's still here."
"I don't need excuses I need results."
"It's highly unlikely we'll get results at this rate."
"I don't care. Besides, we still have his father's sword. If he'll stay around for any reason, then that would be it."
"True. Is it still over in the store room?"
"Yes."
"Very well. I'll place some guards over there."
And with that the voices trailed off. I peeked over the rock and, not much surprised, saw Rathis. He was heading off with the other bandit over to one of the buildings and I knew at once it was the store room from all the crates and barrels around it. I sneaked out from behind the rock and slinked over to the store room when the two turned the corner. I jumped inside from one of the open windows and was overjoyed when I saw that no one was inside yet. I started sorting through the crates and soon found my sword just lying on the outside of a barrel as if it were just any other sword. I speed towards it but as soon as I picked it up the door burst open and in came one of the guards. He looked at me quizically and I skewered him before he could react. I jumped outside to see that I was allready discovered. All The bandit's came at me in a wave but before they were halfway there they stopped and turned back. I stared in confusion but soon I saw the reason why they had stopped. Rathis had come.
"I don't need any help in dealing with you." he said as he drew his mace.
"Those will be your last words." I replied. I charged at him and my dragons appeared, destroying any bandit's closeby. Rathis raised his eyebrow in an ammused look and then charged forward. He swung his mace and I ducked under it and stabbed at him but he jumped back and swung at me overhanded but I jumped out of the way and slashed his left arm.
"So, you do know how to fight." Rathis said, clinging his useless left arm. I simply glared at him. He swung his mace at me again but it was awkward in only one hand so he missed dramatically. He glared at me and flinged the mace at my head. I mostly got out of the way but it still hit me pretty hard. I fell to the ground and watched as Rathis pulled out a sword. I jumped at him and our swords clashed.
"You messed with me for the last time." I said. Rathis just grinned, but his grin soon faded as he saw what was happenening. My sword had become ensheathed in flames and was melting his sword. Rathis screamed as the melting metal fell onto his hand and fell down onto the ground. "I shall end you'r suffering" I said as I stabbed him through the heart. All the bandit's who saw fled, only to be hunted down by the dragons. I headed down the hill, back to my home fullfilled, back to Gaia.
