Space, a cold expanse of the endless infinity that is the girth of Eternity's body. Many worlds dot the swirling arms of the Milky Way Galaxy, many populated with sentient races that ran the gambit of diversity. The military discipline of the fear Kree, the deceptive ruthlessness of the Skrulls, the mindless hunger of the Brood and the cold sense of justice held by the Shi'Ar were only tid bits of what these worlds could offer to creation.
Attentions on one such world, a glowing jewel of life primal and pristine Gaian beauty. Massive reptiles and insects dominated this jungle world, echoes of the one planet Earth easily found here. One day it may evolve to be a rival to the other space fairing race....but such was not this world's destiny.
Floating just outside the planet's orbit a moon sized orb idled itself with scans of the planet. Every detail it possessed, from it's soil content to the lowest creature in its ecosystem was digested and catalogued by computing systems that were advanced beyond mortal comprehension. In fact, almost every inch of the massive sphere was covered in layers upon layers of technology that the universe at whole may never evolve to achieve. But the complex rang silent with out life, save one. His heartbeat was like the thundering roar of an exploding star, his resolve as stalwart as the atomic bonds that held the Universe together. Before his massive console he sat, eyes the size of minivans taking in every tidbit his systems processed. He is Galactus, mighty Devourer of Worlds, brother to Eternity and Death, source of the awesome Power Cosmic......and he Hungered.
If the titan was displeased or pleased by the information he was given he gave no sign, his face almost permanently frozen in a stoic gaze. He rose from his seat, moving with slow and methodological purpose in every step. Outside the sphere a hole opened in it's hull, a platform the size of a foot ball field extending outward for a mile. It took not long for the mighty Astrogod to exit his vessel, standing like a monarch before his kingdom on the platform. He took this moment to survey the world and the space around it in the flesh, but his pause was but five minutes long. Pieces of machinery the size of tractor trailers materialized, Galactus moving to assemble a device that made most weapons of Mass Destruction look like firecrackers. It took one hour of toil and minimal effort and one of the most formidable of the Star Entities' devices was constructed....The Might Elemental Converter.
Galactus moved to the center of the device, pressing several buttons before grasping two rectangular grips in his massive hands. "My Hunger Beckons. Let this planet wither so that Galactus may flourish." Azure energy jumped from inbetween the two grips, three massive tentacles stretching out from the Converter, directing themselves at the planet. With strength that could move mountains the two grips were brought together with enough force to shatter diamonds. White beams of force exploded from the tentacles, colliding harshly with the planet. The planet was shook to its core as all it's life, minerals and natural resources were converted to the fundamental energies that the World Devourer could feast upon. With in seconds the planet was left a lifeless husk, never again to support life, Galactus' ship vanishing into the starlight
