She seeks a life better
than the one she's been given.
Her parents dead,
her sister's innocence has been stolen
at the age of 15
and her home has been destroyed.
All in one week.
She awakes to the sound of her sister crying.
The pain from the rape is still almost unbearable. cry
She wants to lash out at the people who did this to her
to her and her sister.
She wants to scream at them:
"Why?! Why did you do this to us?!
What did we do to you?!"
But she remembers the strength of her people
and the lessons she has learned from her parents.
How her mother taught her to always be strong
and to never give up.
She remembers that hope is the best thing to have.
And the belief that someday, Africa will be free again.
