One of the most prominent things on Basil's face is his eyes; one of the only tell-tale signs of his Italian heritage Basil's eyes are hypnotic green and beautiful making them a constant target of compliments.

Ninjutsu:
• Bunshin no Jutsu - Clone Technique {E}
Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. The Bunshin technique creates a copy of the ninja without substance. The copy resembles the ninja in every way. This clone can function as a distraction or as means to confuse one's opponent. As soon the Bunshin gets attacked or comes into contact with an opponent, it will disperse.

Henge no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. Henge allows the ninja to transform themselves into any person or object. This allows the ninja to move with stealth or to trick their opponents.

Kakuremino no Jutsu is a very basic Ninjutsu. The ninja uses a camouflage cloth to cloak themselves in the background.
• Kawarimi no Jutsu - Change of Body Stance Technique {E}
Kawarimi no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu. When in danger the ninja will quickly substitute themself with another nearby object. This can be a block of wood or even another person. This allows the ninja to quickly flee and hide while the original object takes the brunt of their opponents attack.

Nawanuke no Jutsu is a very basic Ninjutsu that allows a ninja to escape from rope binds.
• Shunshin no Jutsu - Body Flicker Technique {D}
Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu. The ninja will appear and disappear in an instant, allowing them to retreat or attack suddenly. To facilitate the movement the ninja will often use nearby elements such as mist, sand or leaves to mask their appearance or disappearance.
• Kage Shuriken no Jutsu - Shadow Shuriken Technique {D}
Kage Shuriken no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu utilizing a giant Fuuma Shuriken. When throwing the shuriken, the ninja will also throw a second giant shuriken to hide in the shadow of the first. The hidden secondary shuriken can then approach the target without their being aware.
• Nunoshibari no Jutsu - Cloth Bind Technique {D}
Nunoshibari no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu used kunoichi Maki and other Sand ninja trained in the art. Cloth users will carry a binding roll of cloth into battle, when an enemy is stunned or unable to move, the ninja will unfurl the roll and quickly wrap the target in cloth. The ninja will then cut the cloth and wrap the remainder into the bind. When used in conjunction with sealing tags, the target is unable to escape. These two binding methods will also prevent reverse summoning the victim to freedom.
• Kami Shuriken - Paper Shuriken {D}
Kami Shuriken is a Ninjutsu used by Akatsuki member Konan. Using her high origami skills, Konan will form her paper into bird-like shapes. After throwing these at the target, they can fly through the air and cut through the victim. When she was younger, Konan required the use of a Fuuton technique to add "punch" to the thrown shuriken. After she advanced her skills, she appears to be able to launch them with enough deadly force by herself.

Using either his ink or paint Basil will flick his paint brush sending specs of the liquid towards his opponent, they will solidify into hardened serrated discs which will fly towards the opponent as the blobs did. Basil can use this in conjunction with Wind Element jutsu in order to increase its effectiveness or use it as a stand alone technique.
• Soushuuha - Manipulate Advancing Blades {C}
Soushuuha is a Ninjutsu used by Sand ninja Yashamaru. This technique allows Yashamaru to hover multiple kunai in the air while he approaches a target. The technique allows a ninja to unleash a torrent of kunai much more quickly than if each was thrown individually.
• Sumi Bunshin no Jutsu - Ink Clone Technique {C}
Sumi Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu that utilizes ink to create a Bunshin clone. If the Sumi Bunshin is injured, the clone will usually revert back into its natural ink state.

As with the Ink Clone technique Basil will utilize paint to make a clone. If injured the clone will explode into a large amount of brightly colored paints creating glare and disorientating the opponent.
• Sumi Gasumi no Jutsu - Ink Haze Technique {C}
Sumi Gasumi no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu that utilizes ink to hide an escape. After forming the needed hand seal, ink will surround the ninja to hide the movement of their ultra fast escape.
• Kai - Release {C}
Kai is a Ninjutsu which allows the ninja to avoid the effects of a Genjutsu illusion. After forming the needed handseals, the Genjutsu technique will not affect the ninja. The ninja can also use the technique on another individual who was unable to avoid the attack. After forming the needed hand seals, the ninja touches the one affected to end the affect of the spell.

Suiton • Mizuame Nabara is a Ninjutsu utilizing the Water Element. After forming the needed handseals, Izumo will expel a sticky liquid from his gullet. This liquid can cover approximately 20 square meters. If the target runs on top of the liquid, their feet will become glued to its sticky surface. If the ninja focuses chakra to their feet before touching the surface, they can hover above and move over it without hindrance. This allows Izumo or a comrade to charge and attack without fear of becoming bogged down as well.

Suiton • Mizurappa is a Ninjutsu utilizing the Water Element. After forming the needed handseals, Yahiko will expel a strong jet of water at his opponent.
• [Fuuton] Reppushou - Gale Wind Palm {C}
Fuuton • Reppushou is a Ninjutsu utilizing the Wind Element. After forming the needed hand seals, Nagato will send a strong gust of wind towards his target. When acting in conjunction with another thrown weapon, the wind can increase its power and deadliness.

Fuuton • Daitoppa is a Ninjutsu which utilizes the Wind Element. After bringing his hand to his mouth, Orochimaru will blow a large blast of wind capable of leveling almost anything in its way. A variation of the technique involves a smaller blast of wind which gets ignited with flame.
• Choujuu Giga - Super Beast Imitation Drawing {B}
Ninpou: Choujuu Giga is a Ninjutsu used by the mysterious ninja Sai. Gifted with much artistic talent, Sai can remove his special scroll and ink drawings on its surface. Forming the needed handseal he can then give life to the art, allowing it to spring off the page and obey his will.

Basil will touch an external source of liquid be it water or blood and turn it into paint. Basil must be able to touch the liquid in order for it to work and it cannot be inside the body of another human being; the ink created this way is useful for replenishing lost ink supplies as well as confusing opponents.

Using his paintbrushes as a conductors baton, Basil can freely manipulate his ink and paint.
• Jibakujutsu - Character Bind Technique {B}
This technique, developed by Shiranami, allows him to do many different things depending on the kanji he writes out on the air with his hands such as create fire, or sending the word to attack a target. Fairly versatile, this skill affords similar advantages to one-handed hand seals. These are technique variations:
- 操, which comes from the verb 操る (ayatsuru), meaning to manipulate. This character allows Shiranami to manipulate and control his opponent. The effect manifests when Shiranami writes he kanji in the air at the target's direction; at which point, the kanji appears on the recepient's person. That individual then becomes a subject to Shiranami's will. A person with tremendous chakra can easily dispel the effect.
- 岩 (iwa, rock), This character allows Shiranami to immobilise targets. In the case of clones, this dispels them.
- 爆 (baku, explode), This character causes several explosions that can also be used to dispel clones
- 斬 (zan), which comes from the verb 斬る (kiru), meaning to kill with a blade. This character creates several wind blades.
- 割 (katsu, split), This character causes the ground underneath the target to split open.
Genjutsu:
• [Custom] Magen: Geijutsu Ni Kandō - Demonic Illusion: Touched By Art {D}
Basil will paint a picture using Chakra infused paint and hold it in front of him; if the opponent comes into contact with the painting they will be caught in the genjutsu as the painting releases the chakra it holds and attacks the opponents chakra network. At first they will simply admire the painting until eventually falling into a blissful state believing they are in a world full of beautiful thing.

Basil will send a rush of chakra forward and capture the opponent in this genjutsu, when this genjutsu hits the opponent will forget what it was they were about to do and lose all momentum.
• [Custom] Magen: Kusari Kake Gazō - Demonic Illusion: Rotting Image {A}
Used in conjunction with Pandoru Saiten Fuuin - Paint Marking Seal on their opponent they will imbue a piece of paper with the same Fuuin Chakra just after it has been applied; an image of the marked opponent will then appear on the paper. If the opponent looks at the picture, the seals on both the paper and themselves will activate and trap them in this genjutsu; the image on the paper will decompose at an accelerated rate and the opponent will also see themselves doing the same as the picture. Meanwhile, in the real world the poor victim is actually unconscious and may suffer severe mental stress. To dispel the jutsu a team member would have to remove the seal (which would last one post) and then they'd have to dispel the genjutsu.

Developed by basil to help him in his painting, this Doujutsu gives Basil's eyes a pearlescent shine and gives him enhanced perception of colour and movement like that of the Sharingan. However, it does not give him any other powers besides this enhanced perception making it is useful for dodging, countering attacks and spotting things coming from a distance.

After blocking a technique with his paintbrush Basil will flick paint at his opponent either to scare them thinking it has another effect or in order to blind them.

Basil will wear his paint pallet like a shield and use it for defensive purposes.

Basil will channel chakra into the tip of his brush making the bristles harden and become as tough as diamond. He can manipulate the shape of the brush to suit many different fighting styles making it able to slice, stab or even bludgeon his enemies.

A technique used in combination with any of his brushes, Basil will transform the brush into a giant version of itself in order to use it in combat.

By charging his paintbrush with special Fuuin Chakra, Basil can leave a stripe of invisble paint on his foes to use in conjunction with many of his other Jutsu. The seal is also attached to a contract that allows Basil to summon himself to the seal or vice-versa.
• Shikoku Fuuin - Finger Engraving Seal {C}
Shikoku Fuuin is a Fuuinjutsu used by the Leaf Sannin Jiraiya. By forming the needed sealing chakra on his finger, Jiraiya can engrave a message into an object.
• Koshi Tandan - Tiger Vision Watching Intently Projectile {B}
Koshi Tandan is a Fuuinjutsu used by Sai which utilizes his Choujuu Giga technique. Because it will take Sai awhile to paint the scroll, he will be vulnerable, so ally support is needed. After painting a large tiger onto his art scroll in ink, Sai will form the needed hand seal to cause the tiger to emerge and attack a nearby stunned opponent. The tiger will both bite and use its claws to grab onto the helpless victim. While maintaining the hand seal, sai will then recall the tiger which will slide back into the scroll while dragging along its victim. The victim will then be sealed away into the scroll and neutralized.

• Kuchiyose no Jutsu - Summoning Technique {C}
A powerful jutsu, Ninpo Kuchiyose allows a ninja to summon animals and objects to fight on their behalf. The ninja normally signs a blood contract with the animal species, which allows them to summon different size and skill levels of creature. Signing this contract also allows the animal to reverse summon the human ninja to their location.
• Gyaku Kuchiyose no Jutsu - Reverse Summoning Technique {C}
Gyaku Kuchiyose no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu which allows an individual to summon a person or being to their location using a summoning scroll. In normal Kuchiyose, the signed summoning contract allows the summoner to call upon his or her summons without the contract present. This modification allows for any individual to be summoned through the use of a scroll tied back to the one to be summoned. This scroll allows the individual to be far away and be transported instantly to the location of the summoning scroll. In this variation, Naruto created two clones to remain at Myouboku and gather Senjutsu chakra. Upon being needed, the scroll seal tied to one of the clones was activated, drawing one to his location.

Basil's most treasured items are his sketch book and his art set; they were gifts given to him so long ago that even he cannot fully remember whom gave them to him. The only thing he knows about the source of these gifts is that the person was very important in his life making him cherish them even more in the hopes that the person will one day return

Basil mainly uses his paint pallet for it's obvious purpose but he can also attach it to his wrist in order to be used as a small shield. It is fairly durable being able to hold out againsteven the most powerful attacks.
Shinobi Weapons:
• Shuriken:
This throwing knife is one of the common weapons of a ninja. It is often kept in a holster on the leg in a pouch attached to the belt. The Kunai can be used in conjunction with explosive tags and other weapons to form deadly combos.
• Kunai:
Another common weapon, the shuriken is often kept in a holster on the leg or in a pouch attached to the belt.
• Exploding Pouch:
A variation on the exploding note, these small pouches can be attached to a target and then explode a few seconds later.
• Makibishi:
This weapon is primarily used during escape, numerous makibishi are thrown on the ground and enemy soldiers will have a difficult time pursuing because the spiked metal can penetrate the sole of the shoe wear.
• Senbon:
The senbon was first used by doctors in acupuncture, it was then adopted by ninja and Hunter-nins to hit points on the body to cause death, deaden limbs or cause their target to fall unconscious.
• Exploding Smoke Grenade:
When the pin is pulled on this grenade, the result is a large explosion and the release of smoke. This allows the ninja to carry out their manuevers in secret.
• Exploding Note:
The exploding note is a piece of parchment paper which has script on it that serves to faciltate its explosive properties. The ninja can attach the note to another object such as a kunai or log. When the note is set it begins a slow burn which results in a large explosion.

• Wire:
Wire can be used in several situations. It can allow the ninja to create trip wire explosive traps, it can be used in rappelling, or as a method to tie down and restrict the movement of an opponent.
• File:
A file is normally hidden within the clothing of the ninja, if captured, the file can be withdrawn from its secret location to file and cut through metal.
• Mirror:
When the ninja wants to avoid putting themself directly in the possible line of attack, they can use the mirror to peak around corners to ensure the path is clear.]
• Radio:
The short range radio is capable of keeping ninja in contact across several miles. The radio can accept multiple frequencies and is activated to talk by pushing a button on the neck attachment.
• Range Finder:
The range finder can function both as binoculars and as a means to measure the distance to a target.
• Scrolls:
Scrolls remain one of the most important pieces of equipment in a ninja's arsenal. Because of their size, multiple scrolls can be carried into battle in the front pouches of a flak jacket or in a pouch. This will save space and not sacrifice a much needed piece of equipment which may be required later. The scroll allows the ninja to summon creatures, people and items to their aid.

After engaging in combat with the young Kusa Empress with the Kazekage and seeing him kill his mentor, Basil has sworn revenge against the young man and will push himself to no ends in order to achieve this minor goal in his life.

Background:
Basil is a descendant of a foreign Merchant clan of prominence; the Hallwards. The Hallwards came to the Shinobi Isles in order to amass a fortune in the ruins of the Fourth Great Shinobi War. Basil's grandfather first settled in Konohagakure no Sato realizing it was one of the biggest of the Shinobi Villages and even took a Shinobi wife fathering Basil and Mewt's father. After a time the Hallward empire expanded from simple commerce to construction and even forging weaponry. Sensing the fact his empire needed to expand outside of Konohagakure, Basil's Grandfather sent Basil's Father to Sungakure in order to set up an office there. Once the office was set up, Basil's Mother and Father met; she was an honest worker and his Father her boss but the two fell in love at a young age. She fell pregnant prompting marriage to avoid dishonor and then gave birth to Basil. She looked after Basil and later went on to become his Father's assistant and the Suna Branch of The Hallward empire grew at an alarming rate. By the time Basil was 10 and just graduating the ninja academy, his family had almost monopolized all the trading in the Shinobi Isles. They called for a meeting between the Grand Shinobi Alliance members in steel country to secure an established inter-boarder trade route to be known as the Hallward Road.
During the meeting, a single assassin of unknown village attacked killing Basil's mother and father. His only targets. It was obvious someone did not want the trade route established and as village blamed village allowing the meeting to erupt into chaos; no one remembered a new born baby and 10 year old child whom had now become orphans. Basil, at 10 had now inherited not just inherited one of the biggest trade companies in the Shinobi Isles but also sole guardianship of his brother.
Basil was soon forced to grow up quickly; his experiences growing by the day as he continued his family's work, cared for his little brother and contributed to the village as a Shinobi. People were amazed by Basil's up beat attitude under all the pressure; he seemed unstoppable as he made more and more of name for himself and his family throughout the village. The bloodstain that was attached to the Hallward name was being cleaned away slowly and Basil was the main cause of the cleansing. Even more so in his Chuunin Exam, when a pool of talent unsurpassed for many years gathered in Kumogakure to earn the right to be called Chuunin.
The Kumogakure Chuunin exam is still coveted as the hardest Chuunin exam to date with such a pool of potential and almost impossible challenges no one was expected to pass at all. In fact, the Kumogakure officials had rigged it that way. So, when Basil and his team cleared all three stages including a treasure hunt, tournament and teaam battle royale. All were in awe. The young Basil simply nodded the accomplishment off saying that it was what he had to do as Leader of the Hallward Empire as well as a big brother to set an example to his younger sibling. Returning to the village his squad were heroes and he had successfully become something greater then anyone had ever seen any foreigner become.
Some people put Basil's success down to his jutsu style, choosing to develop a jutsu style based around the one thing he loved more then his family: Art. Art was his only escape from the world he found himself in, he put a lot of time and effort into perfecting his craft whenever he found any sort of free time. This led to him perfecting his famous Paint Ninjutsu just before the exam, giving him a pool of unseen unique techniques that surprised all of his opponents.
He continued using this style as well as making a name for himself as an Artist well into his Chuunin years serving alongside the Kazekage on the front lines of boarder disputes with the new Kusa no Kuni Empire. Still primary care giver to his brother and only 20 years old, Basil earned his promotion to Jounin through years of loyal and distinguished service; including holding off the enemy at the Amegakure Checkpoint as well as saving his squad from an ambush of Kusa-nin. The Kazekage was so impressed with Basil that he had the boy serve under him directly.
It was then that Basil met Tsubakiri, Empress of Kusa on the battlefield for the first time. At the Kazekage's side, Basil served as the vanguard to a Suna retreat after the Empress had appeared decimating their forces with a ruthless hand. Unable to keep up with the pace of the young Empress's assault the Kazekage fell to her in battle; Basil, in a daring move picked up the Kazekage and retreated to a safe position. In his dying words, the Kazekage named Basil as his successor and Basil has took up the challenge of the mantle since.
Two years on at 22 years old, Basil doesn't just have the fate of a country on his shoulders but also has to worry about his Brother's antics as a newly graduated Genin, his company's fate as Kusa no Kuni has cut off the Suna and Konoha offices as well as find time for himself to keep pursuing his dream to become an artist. Some would say it was too much pressure for one young man to handle but since he was 10 years old Basil has been under pressure and it's not about to stop him being the best Kazekage, brother and artist the world has ever seen.
