Mia's Field Notes
Do Vampires Sparkle? Ch. 1
Chapter 1: Just a Normal Day
Author's Note: I originally didn't want to turn the end of this chapter into a cliffhanger. Buuuuuuut, I wasn't sure how to continue after the surprising turn of events. So, I went with a cliffhanger anyway. ^^;;
Disclaimer: Once again, I don't own any of these characters. All of them are roleplayed by the cool peeps at TACAC, a roleplay based on the Ace Attorney series by Capcom.
Summary: There be some idle chit-chat up in here.

It was just a normal day in that run down, complex's lobby. The several couches scattered in the lobby faced a TV that played Law and Order non-stop on every channel. (Save for one that was claimed by the young Klavier Gavin.) The nearby kitchen was clean and currently unoccupied by anyone. And the dinning room was still tapped off due to an unfortunate incident a few weeks ago. Nothing unusual or out of the ordinary. Well, almost unusual. In this strange complex that sat in the middle of several different dimensions, people with the same appearances and the same names were walking and talking amongst themselves. To an outsider, it would seem like such a bizarre event. But to everyone there, it was normal. It was something they expected and come to live with on a daily basis. And for some, they came to love the bizarre nature of it all. This was the complex and it's residents. But during that particular, cold winter day the norm was about to be thrown out of porportions.

In one of the many couches was Nicky Wright. A spiky-haired female with a bizzare beanie with the words "MaMa" etched on the front, a gray hoodie, black pants, and sandals. She was idly humming to herself as she gazed at the window. The sky had an orange tint only shadowed by the several skyscrapers and buildings that reached the heavens. It was close to twilight and in a few hours the pianist would have to go to work at a certain restuarant. Until then, she enjoyed the view before her.

"Nicky, do you have a minute?" spoke a gruff voice. A very tall man stood over her, blocking her beautiful view. His eyes were carefully scanning the room around him. His black, leather jacket with the strange white boa around the edges and the golden design of a dragon embroided on the sleeves seemed to come to life from the dim yet orange glow from the window.

But despite her view being obscured, she looked up and smiled at him. "Sure, Rou. What's on your mind?" She shifted her body over, allowing some space for the man to sit down. Her window gazing would have to wait. It seemed the international investigator wanted to question her.

Rou sat down next to her. He lowered his voice just enough so only Nicky could hear him. "Listen, is there anyone that has dissappeared recently from the complex? Or someone that hasn't been seen lately?"

She lowered her head, allowing the shadow of her beanie to cover her eyes. "I can't say I have, Rou," she said in a low tone matching the investigator. "Why do you ask?"

He looked at her sternly. "There has been a stream of strange murders recently in this area. All of the victims have retained these strange marks on their necks and the autopsy shows that they were all drained of blood."

Nicky looked up at him. A smirk embraced her face. "You don't think some vampire is killing people, do you?" To her, the idea of a real vampire murdering innocent people was rediculous. Of course, she wasn't the only one who thought it was rediculous.

The mountainous man next to her laughed. "Of course not, everyone knows vampires aren't real." He finished laughing and looked down at her again. "My pack has been hounding this guy for a few weeks now. And it seems the murderers are starting to get closer to this area-"

"And you're worried someone from the complex was attacked or may be the murder, right?" Nicky interupted.

"Exactly." His eyes then forrowed lightly. "You're sure that no one has dissappeared from this complex, right?"

Nicky looked up at him. A calm expression etched on her face. "Rou, I'm not around the complex 24/7. If anyone has dissappeared that I'm not acquainted with, I wouldn't know. But in these past few weeks, I haven't seen anyone dissappear. You're better off asking someone else." And she was being honest. Unlike most of the people in the lobby, she was not a resident of the complex.

Rou got up from his seat. "If you do notice anything strange or any dissappearances, contact me." He then handed her a small piece of paper with his phone number on it.

Nicky quickly pocketed it and nodded. "Of course, Rou. You'll be the first I tell." She smirked at him.

The mountainous man smirked back at her and turned off to leave...only to freeze in his track. Curious, Nicky looked in his direction as well and what she saw was something even she couldn't believe.
