Journal of a Lycanthrope Under a Bad Moon
Chapter 3: The Truth
October 13th – It took me all day but i finally got to the Ruins where the Oracles Reside. I decided to set up camp and visit them in the morning. While setting up camp i had that feeling that i was being watched by someone or something. I shruged the feeling off and finished setting up camp.
About an hour before i started writing I started to hear howls which is weird to hear in a jungle. But as the moon rose up higher, I had the urge to howl myself but I controlled myself and kept to cooking my dinner which consisted of meat. When I was eating, I tried to eat something else other than meat like a roll i bought in the market before i started this trek. As soon as I took a bite and swallowed the roll, my body rejected it and I threw it back up. After that I lost my appitite but I was still hungery, crazy hungery in fact, so I finished the meat which my body didn't reject apparently.
October 14th – Im doing this journal kind of early since I have to do something with Rin and Lin in an hour that is supposed to take all night. I woke up this morning and packed camp to search for the Oracles. After consulting with them on one of my earlier missions with the clan, they knew me quite well and probably knew that I was coming. I went deep into the jungle searching for the Oracles north west of the jungle is a secret entrance to a grove where the Oracles reside.
I find the entrance to the grove and entered. As i walked to the center, a voice said my name and told me that I seeked answers. Out of nowhere appeared Rin and his twin sister Lin. These two were half human half avian with wings and talons but a human face and body and wearing Otami armor. These two were the Oracles from a dying tribe from long ago with the ability to see into the future and speak to the gods.
Rin asked me what ailed me. I explained the past week to the two of them and they listened intently. Then Lin suddenly went into a kind of trance. Out of nowhere came a loud voice that said that I was given a gift and a curse. How I looked at it was up to me. I requested further explanation and the voice came back and told me to stay in the grove over night and then seek council again with the gods and all will be revealed. After that Lin collapsed to the ground tired from channeling the god. Rin told me to do what the god says and stay in the grove for the night. Since one there are strange creatures about in the jungle now since the fall of Lab Tech and two Rin and his sister can keep me company and the grove will protect me from any creatures since the grove has a special barrier. They also had someone they wanted me to meet later on in the evening.
It neared night time when i set up camp again. Rin and Lin had headed out to do something deep in the jungle so I was alone. I hear something nearby and looked and saw noughthing. Then I had that being watched feeling again. Just then I heard another sound and turned again. Noughthing. I got my sword at the ready then I felt something sharp on my neck, a dagger. "Put your weapon down and stand up." said a female voice. Putting my fathers sword down but keeping my other hand near my short sword, I stalled. "Alright I am unarmed, may I ask..." just then I got kicked forcefully forward. I then turned around to retaliate then stopped to look upon a beautiful female withwell tanned skin, long white hair, blue eyes, wearing a black athletic shirt, long black pants with straps here and there and wearing sandals, holding a dagger in a underhanded military combat position. She points the dagger at me, looking for any suspicious movements from me. "Why are you here in this sacred place?" she demanded.
I turned to the side to hide my short sword and explained, "I came here to speak to the Twins and was ordered to stay here for the night." She kept her ground and started sniffing the air, "Your scent is weird. Are you a hunter?" she asked. I told her no that i had a weird week but before i could get to the explanation she took a few steps forward then lunged at me with the dagger. She came at me with incredible speed but I was able to see her attack in time to block the attack with my short sword. She then tried another attack I grabed her arm and disarmed her then got her into a hold.
I explained to her that im not a hunter and that im not easy to take down. She stomped on my foot and got out of the hold. "I'm not easy prey neither."she laughed as she got her dagger and got back into an attack stance. As she lunged again for another attack, she suddenly stopped as if someone hit the pause button on her or something. Rin and Lin appeared, Lin holding her hand out to keep control on the spell on the wild female. "So Itaru I see that you have met our resident Raitsu." said Rin walking around the frozen female. Lin let her go and Raitsu and the twins got into an arguement that pertained to me, what im doing here, and why do i smell weird appaerently. Lin took her off and explained it to her while Rin told me the Raitsu came to them a couple of months ago and lived with them ever since. I asked some questions like her attitude and incredible speed that match my new speed and he just said that that would all be explained later on.
Well I have to stop the journal here I have to go out and do some trials for the Twins which i will write about tomrrow.
October 15th (Morning) – Surpisingly I only had to do one trial for the Twins. It was to get to the blood tree and back without the use of a light. The trek wans't very hard neither case I was able to see pretty clearly i guess it was because of the moon light I guess. And lucky me the animated decided to take a nap at the time making it more a usual hike up a massive hill than a trial.
I got up to the top where the Blood Tree was. The Blood Tree apparently was the largest and oldest tree in the jungle that stood at the top of this hill. It was also a place for vision quests and was said to host alot of Ghi energy which was why the jungle was so massively populated with animated. I deceded to sit down and take a rest for a few minutes before returning. I closed my eyes then I all of a sudden I started having flashes of that dream I had two nights ago. I woke up howling at the moon right away. "Having a nice dream huh stranger?" asked a female voice.
I looked up to see Raitsu sitting alittle above me on a branch smirking at me. "How long have you been here?" I asked. Apparently she was here since before my trial started and she saw me in my sleep and said that I was smiling. She then jumed down from the branch and landed soundlessly on the ground. "Appaerently you have the gift also." she said. I then asked what she meant by also. She just smiled and said that she couldnt tell me cause she promised Rin and Lin. But she was supposed to help me with this thing after the gods tell me the next day.
I was about to ask her what she was going to do to help when we started hearing rand from below and she had to cut me off. "Well I guess that howl was enough to wake up the Tikis looks like the trip back will be a little of a trial." smiled Raitsu as she took out her dagger. "Lets see if that fight earlier wasn't all luck she continued as the ugly little masked things came out of the shadows and started attacking." I unsheathed my short sword and started taking out the things. I didn't have any problem taking these things out they kind of moved in slow motion as I weaved my way around attacking each one quickly and swiftly. Raitsu was a blur going through the things when she stopped I could have sworn i saw her grining like she really enjoyed it. What threw me off was that she was bearing long fangs which i didnt see before.
Well i'm about to to go see Rin and Lin i'll stop right here and continue tonight with what the gods tell me.
October 15th (night) – Alright I really don’t know what to write down right now. The truth came at me like a bomb shell. Well here goes.
I went to see Rin and Lin for council to speak with the gods. They were there waiting for me at the appointed time like we agreed on before I went to sleep. Raitsu wasn’t here so she must be out again apparently. Lin asked me if I was ready since she is going to astral project my soul out of my body to speak to the god for the answers I seek. I told her i was and she put her hand on my shoulder and then I blacked out.
All I saw was darkness then a bright light flashed and blinded me temporarily. After adjusting my eyes I saw a figure in which I couldn’t describe because of the light. The figure spoke to me and told me that I wanted answers to what I have become. I said yes and then after being blinded by another flash of light, I opened my eyes to see the scene where I was attacked by that thing. Then a hand rested upon my shoulder I turned around to see a cloaked person whose face was shrouded in shadow of the cloak he wore. He spoke, “this is the creature that attacked you that night.” The creature is called a lycanthrope or by what you humans call a werewolf. As I saw the thing attack the past me there was another flash of blinding light.
I opened my eyes to see an old village. Apparently the village was old Barton set hundreds of years back. It’s night time and villagers are out merrymaking and celebrating. Apparently it was a festival of sorts. The full moon rose high. Just then a bell sounded for an alarm meaning that the village was under attack. Then all of a suden a pack of werewolves attacked the village. They were destroying and slaughtering everything then a loud howl sounded and another pack of werewolves came out of nowhere to fight the first pack. The hooded person spoke, “as you see here werewolves were here on this planet for a long time. There are good werewolves as you have seen attacking the village and there are good ones like the ones attacking the one attacking the village. This is what you are becoming. Being good or evil are all up to you and how you keep onto your insanity and what intentions you have with your new found destiny.” Then another flash of light and I woke up having Lin standing over me with a wet rag over my head. “So you have all of your answers?” asked Lin. I nodded and explained what I have seen. Then I asked if Raitsu was the same as me, Lin nodded. Then I asked Lin where Rin was. She explained that Rin was giving Raitsu council. I asked what was to happen next, she explained that I will go through my first change and this change was going to be the major test. I asked why she just told me that Raitsu will explain since she knows more about the change than both of them do.
Just then Rin came back and told me that Raitsu will start my training tomorrow morning and to be ready. As soon as I asked where she was he interrupted and told me that she is out preparing test for my lessons and wont be back tonight.
So here I am a werewolf finishing his journal. I’ll keep updating this journal the best I can about my training until then im going to go think this over and over in my head.
