Nothing of Importance
title explains it
Unfinished
Her life had been going great. She had found someone with whom she was happy with. They had been living togther for 6 months. Never a fight. Never a disagreement. It was bliss. She didn't see it coming until that night. She was sitting on the couch, reading a novel, a warm blanket wrapped around her. Legs pulled up, and curled slightly underneath her. Two paragraphs into the 9th chapter, she heard a klunk come from the hallway. Looking up and towards the hallway, she saw him standing there, a suitcase beside him. She looked from him to the suitcase and back to him. His face seemed different. It was cold and emotionless. Not the warm, happy face she usually saw. "Going somewhere, hun?" she asked him. "Yes", he replied, gripping the handle of the suitcase as he began walking to the front door. She set the book on the arm of the couch and pulled the blanket off, standing up. She walked around the couch and towards him, stopping several feet before him. He reached the door and grabbed the handle, turning it and pulling the door open. "When will you be back?" she asked. "I won't" was his reply. "What do you mean?" she asked, her head tilting slightly. He sighed, lowering his head "You don't get it do you..." he turned to her. "I'm leaving you. For good. I'm never coming back" he said. "But why? Please don't go. I'm sorry for whatever I have done", she said, her voice quivering slightly. He glared at her and spoke "You idiot, you don't get it" his voice then becoming louder "I never liked you in the first place!!! I hate you!! I swear I must have been desperate when I wanted to be with you becuase I sure as hell can't find any other reason for wanting to be with a fat, ugly whore!! You mean nothing to me!! You're worthless and insignificant and I never want to hear or see you again. You got that?! You stupid b***h! How could you think that anyone could ever like you!?" he shouted, then grabbed the door and walked out, slamming it behind him so hard, knocking a picture off the wall. She stood there, staring at where he had just stood, her eyes wide and her mouth hung open slightly. She stood there for what seemed an eternity before collapsing to her knees in tears. It was a few days later when a friend came to the house to see her. He knocked on the front door and waited. No answer. He then noticed that all the lights were off inside. He moved over and peered in through a window. He could see the flicker of several candles on tables. Then he saw it. The dark outline of someone sitting on the couch. He knocked on the door again. Still no answer. He reached down and twisted the doorknob. It was unlocked. He opened the door and stepped inside. He took a few steps towards the couch and whispered "Emily?" as he noticed it was the outline of a female. When he got no answer, he walked over to stand in front of her. He looked at her. Her head was down, hair covering her face. She seemed to be motionless. He raised up a hand and placed his index finger under her chin and lifting up, cuasing her head to tilt upwards. His eyes widened as he looked into hers. There was nothing to them. No life, no movement. She just stared blankly ahead. "Emily, what's wrong!? What's happened to you?!" he asked, very concerned for her. He looked around, noticing tissues on the couch. His heart froze when he saw the long razor blade next to her leg. He frantically checked her for signs of breathing. She was, but barely. He looked into her eyes. "Emily...it's me...Brendan! Are you ok?" he asked. There was no response. He picked up the razor that lay next to her leg. His heart wrenched at the sight of the dried blood on it. Tossing it to the floor, he looked to Emily again. He spoke slowly to her "Emily, I'm going to take you to the hospital, ok hun?". He scooped her up into his arms and took her out of the house and placed her in the passenger seat in his car. He then got in the driver's seat, started the car and drove off to the hospital. On the way, he looked to her occasionally, wondering what the hell happened to her. How long had she been this way?
