So, there I am, taking my final reflections as I'm about to be thrown into the pit with the dragon, when one of the guards just drops. The other drops, and the last one pulls off her hood and undoes my bindings at my wrists.
"I swear to god I'm going to kill you when this is all over."
"You're welcome," she growled at me.
"Well, hello, coulda told me I was going to live before I made amends with dying."
"As if you really did, you and I both know the moment the afterlife was upon you you'd be giving everyone hell," she whispered silently, "Why are we still standing here? Let's get outta here before I have to really save your a**."
Only now do I notice she has new scars all over the cloak. Apparently it only made half a good disguise. We were practically crawling out of the complex, but when we made it out we dashed like the wind. When we finally collapsed I looked at her, seeing all the damage she had taken to help me escape.
"Winter.... you seriously need to stop hanging around me."
"Why's that?" She asked, innocently enough.
"Because you're picking up on my inept ability to narrowly kill myself and yet come out with minimal damage."
"Eheh... there's a problem with that?"
"Not yet.. just don't abuse it."
"Why don't you take your own advice?"
"Bite me."
"That can easily be arranged," She said, shadowing me, her teeth gleaming.
"Once again, let's try saving that for another time."
"Why?" She asked, tilting her head. I could see the gleam coming from her eyes, smell the very heat off her.
"Cause I'm not in the mood for attempting something suicidal anymore."
"Whoever said it'd be suicide?" She said, I could now smell her breath.
"Winter..."
The space closed between us.
Nothing was holding us back. Nothing. The world felt as though it had vanished all I needed to feel was her. All that mattered was her.
So, here I am, Winter's resting on my chest, pleased with herself.
Can't say I'm not.
