There is a town that is off most maps, and is not really meant to be where it is. In a desperate attempt to take care of an over population problem, a city took a large group of people and unfairly cast them out into the forest beyond the city. The people had followed the roads out and eventually wandered off into the forest. Soon they found a clear area, and made a town. They grew for a good few years until the town was mildly sized, and then it started. In the mornings, or at night, people would be found drained of blood or other horrible things. The town was being thinned out. Many people were afraid to go out at night, or even out at all, because they were afraid that they might be next. During the day, business continues as usual, people trade, farm or work, but at night most of the disappearances happen. a guy comes out of a bar drunk, and is taken, he may or may not return, but if he does, he will have no memory of how he got home.
Not know to the people of the town, less than a mile away is a large mansion, seemingly cloaked from humans. All races can take refuge there, but some decide to stay in the forest or in the village. They are the ones who are responsible for whats going on.
Many humans are taken to the mansion, used as slaves, or just the next meal on the table.
