I"m a bit nervous about taking writing tips from experts....I know I do somethings right and a lot of things wrong but, I'd like to think I'm better than those idiots from my old English class.

Isn't that where we learned comma placement and sentence structure?
Then there's the spelling tests that we took all the way through the 8th grade. Thinking back, I really should have payed more attention to those too.
Can I go back and review the basics please? I kinda miss my old school days of just sitting in one desk with one teacher teaching and little one page worksheets to do for homework.
Everything went south when I entered middle school. For my whole 7th grade year I didn't do more than three pieces of homework. . .granted, I did have other problems to deal with but still, I should have at least tried. . .or I shouldn't have waited so long to deal with the other problems. . .
