Eros's perfect mistake (new story)
Eros, the young god of love, was busy coating his next batch of arrows to be used to match up soul mates when he pricked his finger on one. “Oh no” he exclaimed and looked around. Inadvertently he looked down to the village at the base of Mt. Olympus and spotted a young maiden. Instantly he fell head over heals in love with her. I have to have her...she will be my wife, Eros thought as he watched her pick a lovely red rose.

He flew down the mountain and, taking on a much more human appearance, approached her.
“. . .my lady. . .the gods smile down upon you. Come and be counted among those few who are welcomed in our halls.”

“But why me? Why would the gods pick someone of such low status?” The maiden asked as she smelled the rose.

“Because, I have chosen you to be my bride.” With that Eros took her hand in his and kissed it gently.

The maiden accepted his offer and together the went back to the gods palace. Everyone was pleased that he had finally chosen a bride and bestowed upon them gifts.

From Iris, the goddess of rainbows, a rainbow to bring joy to their lives. Poseidon granted a salty sea wind when every they wished to have a romantic setting. Athena gave to the young bride her favorite owl. It was well trained to do as she commanded. And from Aphrodite, Eros's mother, a love potion to ensure their love lasted forever and two doves that held a ribbon in their beaks to symbolize the joining of the two.

********* gift to her was eternal youth so she would not age just as her husband would not age and Hera vowed to always watch over them as the protector of marriage.

The two were joined in matrimony surrounded by the light of a thousand candles.
The maiden soon after took the appearance of one of the goddess. Her white wings spread wide as she would sore over the valley below helping to keep watch on the wildlife and mankind.
