The Rainforest, Should it stay or should it go? Each year there is a problem that’s not doing very well with a solution. You hear about it on the news and you read about it about it in newspapers. If we’re going to live easier, happier, healthier lives, deforestation needs to be stopped. Rainforests give us 70% of our oxygen. They give us many of our fruits and other foods. They give the United States one quarter of its prescription drugs. Also, cutting down trees helps plants and animals get put on the endangered species list. If we stop cutting down trees, we can save plants and animals. We can help the O-zone layer by stopping use of the machines cutting the trees down. We’ll have fruit and other foods to go around. Also, we’ll have one less problem to go through in our generation. On the other hand, lumber jacks might lose their jobs. There won’t be a lot of building space for homes. There won’t be wood to build companies and household items. I believe we can use plastic, metal, and cement for building purposes. Also, if there isn’t building space for companies, the employees can work in their homes. There are many ways you can help, one way is TREES. Teach others about the importance of rainforests. Restore damaged ecosystems by planting trees where they have been cut down. Encourage people to live in a way that doesn’t hurt the environment. Establish parks to protect rainforests and wildlife. Support companies that try to decrease the damage done to rainforests. Everyone can help, anyone can make a difference. Like Confucius said, “The man who moves mountains must first start by removing pebbles.”
