As leaves fall and a forest watches,
Quietly I dance my waltzes.
Rough toes kiss a concrete wall between air and earth,
The breath of calm slides amidst my birth.
Lips open and life escapes,
Yet nothing upon the earth is graced.
Calm transcends a sleeping earth,
And as I hush an urge to smile,
Metal caresses bone and bile.
I feel your cold, harsh cackle,
And you encroach upon my temple.
Frozen rain on soft pale lips,
As I move my finger tips,
Through bitter air and frostbit life.
Silence graces a soft, white dream,
And footsteps fade forever,
Into a never ending hall of trees.
This life, without its leaves…
I step onto the still, cold lake,
And slip under the stars.
It’s quiet here,
It’s my escape,
And I’m lost in death’s swift wake.
I'll stand on the edge of this bridge until I feel the rain.
I won't be pushed away and nothing leaves as fast as it came...
