I'm on the clock from 5-9:45pm, today. People would think it wouldn't be so bad since it's only (about) 4 hours and 45 minutes. . . but this is the time of day that we do recovery, and since I'm the new girl, they don't know what they want me doing, yet. We start recovery at about 8:30pm so we don't have to stay all night cleaning.

Well, yesterday was especially bad. We had a bunch of crates full of new things to put out in my section, and I was busy doing that. Then Shannon, the costumer service coordinator came over and asked me to stop and go organize the shoes. The second I leave, the Letrice, the woman working the fitting room last night, called me back to jewelry because someone wanted to look at something. I was there for a good 10 minutes, and when I finished I went back over. I was getting frustrated because the large pile of shoes in the middle of the floor were only one set from the pair, so I had to go waltzing down the isles to try and find the match, but without avail. The woman who cleans came over and told me not to put them back because they were mismatched.

I went back over to jewelry to finish putting things up and then Shannon came back over and asked why I wasn't putting up the shoes, so I told her. She shrugged and then told me to go start recovering starting from langerie all the way to handbags. Again, the second I left, 5 million people came. So I started recovery late and we stayed about an hour past when we were scheduled to. . . langerie was a mess, so I didn't even get to handbags... we usually don't, so I didn't really think anything of it... but I think I'll spend some time over there if I don't have stuff to put up, today.

I really hope Thomas is closing, tonight. I don't like closing with Shannon and she said that she can't keep closing since we have a shortage of people, since she has school early in the morning and another job. I'll cross my fingers and hope she doesn't close too much any more. Anyway, yeah. . . Marquita said they had about 30 people working at this time, but I think she's lying. We only had 5 people closing last night, which was a damn nightmare. Shannon kept complaining about the shortage of people, as do all the other coordinators/managers. I think Marquita is just smiling and baring it and telling people everything's alright, when a lot of people are leaving which has left us with only 2 people in jewelry, Sherry and myself. . . which is why I basically work every day, even if it mostly is only 5-close. Next week I work Sunday-Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They gave me Saturday off, which I don't get because I gave Marquita notice that I'd be gone that Sunday and Monday since I have a doctor's appt. back in Fairfax. Oh well. Three days off, even if two of them will be spent mostly driving on 95 for 4 hours, will be a splendor.

Starting in August, I'm going to look for campus jobs. I'll book two if I need to, but I really don't feel like working at TJM too much longer... even though I just started. I want to wait until they get another person in jewelry, so that way I'm not just leaving them unmanned. . . but Robert says no, that since they're already basically eating me alive, I need to get out of there asap, before they use me up and I'm stuck there forever. Since it really hasn't been too horribly bad there so far and I'm getting used to it, I was planning to stay as long as I could stand it. . . but I don't know how I'm going to fair if they work me 5-close every night of the week and then I get home at rounding 11pm-12am and then have to do hours of homework. I know Marquita said that a lot of the people who work are college students and that they fair fine. . . but Tonya + no sleep = PAIN OF DEATH. I've done it before, and I seriously thought I was going to die. . . so depending on how classes go, I'll quit. School comes first, and I understand that there really is no other time they can schedule me. . . maybe I could work exactly until closing and then leave without doing recovery. . . that would be better. . . but I know they would never agree to that. We'll see, we'll see...... I'm hoping that the rush of new students in August will make the NSOs and Library or even the mail building need more people.
