Stories that are Just So
Part 3

Too many emotions at once; fear, anxiety, confusion, stress…and claustrophobia. Spark was struggling against her confinement in the small, compact….craft-thing. Strapped into a small seat, similar to that of any car, she was feeling very claustrophobic.

She had no clue what do to, or really what on Earth was going on. Everything had happened so fast, she wondered if it was real. Uhura, the car, the sky, the strain, the…aliens…

Still she struggled. She banged her arms, kicked her legs, moved her body this way, that way, any way to get away…from what? All she wanted was out.

Colors where flashing, screens were beeping, symbols were appearing. And the viewing window right in front of her showed a void of blue and whiteness. What was going on?

Then everything came to a sudden stop. The void cleared, and the blueness turned into a scene of blackness with white dots. Space…

Something was flashing brightly on a screen next to the window, catching Spark’s eye. It showed an almost complete transparent rectangle, only colored in on the very bottom. What did this mean? Spark had the briefest notion that it meant “low on battery.”

When the craft-thing she was in stopped, she had stopped her struggling. Her breath was heavy, her heart rate at it’s highest, and her eyes were trying to take in everything at once. She seemed to be in some sort of small car; she was sitting in a small seat, and “wall,” “celing,” and “floor” surrounded her in an oval shape. There was the window in front of her, and the screens around it, and levers and buttons bellow it; some flashing, some not. Spark didn’t want to touch anything.

But the main thing that made her heart beat keep its fast rate was the view through the window. Space. It was only emptiness, but it was captivating. She was scared of it.

Then something else came into view. A big something. It seemed to come from behind the craft Spark was in, and moved around to face Spark head on.

It looked like a space ship seen in sci-fi comics; it was like a huge silver disk with engines attached to it. USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) was printed on the top front of the disk as it turned into full view; it almost seemed to look down on her. It was…haunting.

Spark gulped, then gave a jump as a loud beeping noise erupted inside where she was. Spark looked around, and saw a flashing button that flashed with each beep. Feebly, she pushed it.

As soon as she did, a voice came on and started to talk to her.
“Unidentified shuttle, this is the USS Enterprise. Identify yourself and state your origins.”

Spark was stunned. A voice was talking to her? Should she respond? How would she respond, anyway? If anything, she knew the voice to be coming from the thing outside her window.

“Um…uh…"

There was a pause, and Spark was begging to wonder if she had to put on a head set, or push certain buttons to communicate back to the…silver disk thing; the Enterprise.

“Unidentified shuttle, this is Captain James T. Kirk. Identify yourself or we will take you down into our custody as regulation…” The voice, which sounded somewhat youngish, rattled on some numbers and letters.

“Wait! No!” Spark was feeling desperate. She had no idea what was going on, and being taken into custody, didn’t seem like a good thing. “I have no idea what’s going on! Can you help me?! Please!” She began to sob. “Please, I have no idea what’s going on…”

The voice came on again. “Unidentified shuttle, are you aware that you just came out of a black hole just outside the orbit of planet Earth, then launched into warp with no warning?” The way the voice spoke, it seemed as if the speaker was at lost as well. However, his voice was stern.

Black hole? Outside the orbit of planet Earth? Warp? Spark’s head was spinning, and she felt as if she would collapse from confusion. “What are you talking about? I don’t know!!!”

A new voice came on; this one had no emotion in it.

“Unidentified shuttle, if you are unable to function yourself and your ship, we will take you into our ship, and bring you before the United Federation of Planets to consult this current situation.”

Spark was hyperventilating. “Jus help me out!” she yelled.

The first voice came back on. “Alright, we’ll take you in with our own tractor beam. Don’t do anything unless instructed.”

The voice went away, and the shuttle (she guessed that was what she was in since that is what the voices addressed her as) she was in began to move towards the ship. Closer and closer, until she was right under it.

From where she originally was, the silver disk seemed moderate sized. Apparently she and the silver disk had had quite a distance between them. Upfront, the silver disk was massive; if she was in a shuttle, this was definitely a ship.

She saw an opening in the ship, and noticed that was where her vessel was being directed. A minute latter, she was inside the Enterprise.

Her vessel landed, and through the window she saw that she was in some sort of hanger. Weird craft-vessels were aligned inside, but Spark had a feeling what she was in was much smaller. There were also figures walking and jogging around, some looked human, others….did not.

Her heart was still beating fast, but her breath had slowed a bit on the ride into the Enterprise. With the shuttle having been landed, the screens seemed to bleep off. Taking a deep breath, Spark tried to take off the straps binding her to her small seat; she turned and looked for a way out.

With the seat 180 degrees turned around, Spark could very plainly see that this was a one-person shuttle, made for someone, or something, smaller then she was. She shuttle was in fact shaped like an oval, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to stand up in it; her head was already a few inches from the “roof” of the vessel, and she was still sitting down. Looking down, she saw her bad was on the “floor.” It seemed to have been jammed into the shuttle; Spark, now that she thought of it, didn’t even remember taking it off. She thought she had left it in Uhura’s car…

Pulling the strap back over her shoulder, she heard yet another voice- this one seemed to come from outside her shuttle; like an over head speaker from the hanger.

“Please get out of the shuttle.”

Panicked, Spark looked for a way out. There was no hatch, no door knob, no key hole. Trying to keep calm, she then noticed a small, circular button on the very “back” of the oval shuttle. Finger trembling, she reached out and gently pushed it.

A weird noise entered her ears as the “back” of the shuttle opened up; It opened up like an X. Four flaps split apart and curled open; one on the top, one on the bottom, and one on each side.

Spark took a deep gasp as fresh air flooded the vessel she was in. She had not realized that the tight, compact area she was in did not have a source of oxygen.

Eyes a little watery, Spark quickly wiped away the uncalled for tears. She saw that a group of the figures were waiting just a bit away from where her shuttle had opened up. They all seemed human, but other figures in the back, who seemed to be trying to get a look at Spark, didn’t.

Spark then realized all the figures (human and otherwise) were all dressed in uniform; the men and men-like figures in colored shirts and black pants, the women and women-like figures in short, colored dresses.

The group that was upfront consisted of four humans; a yellow-shirted man with blond-ish hair, two blue-shirted men; both with black hair, one well kept and abnormally straight, the other slightly ruffled, and a red-dressed, dark skinned woman who resembled and older looking version of Sparks’ friend, Uhura.

All of them were looking straight at Spark. The yellow-shirted man had a stern face, but confusion was quite evident; the blue-shirted man with well kept, straight hair seemed to have no emotion, but one of his eyebrows was raised; both the woman and the other blue-shirted man were wide-eyed and looked just as confused as Spark felt.

Shaking and feeling slightly light headed, Spark tried to stand up in her small vessel. She found that when the X spit, the bottom part resembled a shallow ramp, and she decided best she get out and walk down it.

But before she could take one step, she gave way to darkness; this was all too much, and she couldn’t help it as her feeling of light-headedness took over.
