The Infection
I reloaded my double-barrel shot gun, one of them lunged at me, as he was in mid strike I felt a recoil on my shoulder, and its claws drag against my shoulder… One of them… The Qumae.
It is a parasitic demon of a life form, titled by the survivors for indirect reasons. For some reason it mainly leads back to me, Zane Lundgren, for my inventive creativity for titling Bio-Genetic engineering, I simply called it ‘Quazaba.’ Now somehow I’m the enemy to most of the survivors.
This all started back at the ‘Voyager Experience’ when Voyager One, and Two came across a planet sunken under an ocean of water, except on part, a large part we called the Metumiziema super continent, later the Voyagers ‘died’, the government says they crashed into the galaxies sun, but I believe something otherwise. It was 2 days after the ‘Voyager Experience’ no sun could be that close and maintain so much water. So I believe the Voyagers crashed into the planet, and were to be discovered by a distant life form, via the Qumae, they calculated the angle at witch they were sent at, and followed it. Now we are infested with this beast.
Another one approached me, I click the action and shot it dead, and pulled out my hand gun twirled it forward, shot one, then back, and shot one. I knew if I didn’t get out they would surround me, so a decided to move, but I noticed that in the distance their was a paper flapping in the wind, as I charged fourth I gripped the paper in my hand, reloaded my pistol and shot a few off. I was lucky… This time.
As I got away I read the paper. It had crudely written in symbolism:

-Å5í54>F∩ )?Çf╛√Ç╧▓╥ èπ╟Ä╟

Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

Translated it read Meet us at the old wear house… KuGie, Andy… I quivered a moment and realized the names… KuGie… Andy… some of my dearest friends, KuGie, a hot tempered grey-eyed flat red head 16 Year-old and Andy… Andy, probably my best friend, a short semi-build kid my age, 16, he was Hispanic, black-eyed, and generally emotionless, but he did have some feeling… when he needed to express it.
After reading the note, I went to its quarantines and met the two of them, Andy carried 2 pistols, both fully automatic 9mm. KuGie was holding a P90 the best side arm available to those who are natively Martian. Our government seems to not be too fond of mars. Not the point though we have a P90, 2 Automatic 9mm, a double barrel vintage hunting shot gun, and a single-shot uzi, so we’re well set for a fight… but one problem will there be enough ammo?
“KuGie! Andy!” I shouted with joy, “Dudes finally, you wont even be able to begin to imagine the crap I had to go though… you guys think of the ammo problem?”
“Yes…” KuGie replied darkly, “we have mapped out the most abundant sources the best place would be our mall not that far, a lot of recruits, and even more ammo”
“Damnit…” I muttered, “you know how I’m public enemy number one for the mere word ‘Quazaba’ witch pisses me off”
“Zane you know it better than I do.” Andy remarked “A couple of words ‘get off your fat a** and move’ that simple”
“Fine... Fine” I said as I made a deep frown. “Lets go I guess.” I got up and walked towards the doors. “Common we have a slim chance of getting there, and seeing how fast It spreads…”
“All right” KuGie said with no expression
We all walked out the door had our hands gripped on our guns. I could feel sweat trickle down my face as I heard something near the mall I soon realized it was a sniper who had just taken one of them out that was just about to kill me. If I met him personally I would have to thank him, I liked how when the thing was hit by the bullet it fully exploded.
As we got nearer I saw a wall of that fleshy pink color. It was the Qumae again we had to get past them so I grabbed my shotgun and charged in, not my best tactic. I mowed several of them down, before the sniper had to take some out again. Andy and KuGie seemed fine since they were fighting with one another. After about an hour they were all gone, they seemed as if they disappeared there were some dead bodies but most of them were trailed off. We entered the mall and it seemed as if the Qumae gave off some sort of pollen. They looked like any normal pollen spores but just the seed limped off of it.
When we got in there I met the sniper and realized it was an old friend of mine Ian Drey, a hyperactive kid who was only serious when his life depended on it, he carried a 60 cal. Sentra his back up is a fully automatic GLOCK 9mm. I also saw that the sports shop in the mall carried AK-96s a heavily upgraded version of the AK-74, though it was heavier it had more fire power and somewhat less recoil because of the friction guards on the sides, I decided to take it as my new side arm, and I took a 20 gauge shotgun it had an insanely powerful blast witch would knock me over but I got recoil guards on the stalk and friction guards on the barrel, the bullets for it were the size of a flare gun round. The blast itself could take out at least 4 Qumae.
Ian walked up to me and greeted me with a, “Hey a** wipe”
I simply replied with a, “What’s up d**k weed?”
“Saving your a** countless times” Ian replied, I have to admit I didn’t recognize him at first for his hair was a brighter blonde, it was longer, and his voice was deeper “Anyway did you hear that there is a vaccination for the Qumae infection?”
“WHAT!?” I shouted drawing unneeded attention to myself, “HOW!? WHERE!? WE NEED TO GET IT!”
“Swallow your heart I’ll tell you! Gosh!” He said agitated, “There’s a laboratory south east of here we can’t get to it unless we get some good arms on our side though, and we lost a few during that skirmish…”
“Danmit” I said with my head turned, “How many? We might be able to still make it there, we do have KuGie on our side and he had a P-90 with plenty of ammo after hitting here…”
“Only 3 or 4 we completely destroyed the bodies so there would be no chance of them becoming them…” Ian said back
“You could have made it with out us then! Why didn’t you!” I shouted knowing that Ian had to have a logical reason for staying here. “You’re such an idiot!”
“KuGie called.” he said while pulling a cell phone out of his pocket, “I’m not leaving anyone behind…”
“Thanks again…” I said while pulling my fresh 96 off its holster and loading a clip into it, “Now let’s get outta here before hell takes it all.”
With that being said Ian and I gathered up the recruits and headed off as we traveled we mowed down any hostile Qumae in sight, as we did we noticed that their were points of vulnerability one sigh right over the heart where I just recently saw a Qumae mosquito fly out of so it must be a sight of some sort of birth or hatching… maybe that’s all out bodies are needed for are to produce these mosquitoes so they can destroy even more human lives… As we neared the laboratory I heard a churning roar. I… I stood in awe for a few seconds. And gripped my massive shotgun and stared into a fleshy pink crowd and saw something huge draw near… it was a… a… a true Qumae spawn… a wretched bleeding pink with soulless black eyes large claws and spines jetting out of its arms a bombardment so spines coming out the back of its head I thought to myself for a matter of seconds thinking that this hideous being maybe the last thing I see. Ian whipped out his sniper and shot for its head, it had nearly no effect, but I remembered that these things as humans had weak points, so this had to have some so I pumped the barrel and looked it dead in the eye and said in my darkest voice “The very rope that ties your life together is cut here” I pulled back on the trigger, I had noticed that it had an effect on its abdominal area, as I noticed this I shouted to the others “Quick aim for this bastards stomach!”
Each recruit pulled a gun of some sort and destroyed this beasts stomach, the other Qumae noticed this and stared at their fallen leader and ran off giving off a sad, defeated yelp. We were clear to enter the lab, as we did I noticed another good friend of mine Tyler Smith, a great kid, always a bright happy personality, at least until now, I saw the look in his eyes sheer hatred I approached him and asked if he could still tell who I was.
“I know who ya are Zane” he said grimly, “Look I got bad news, Kayla and Katie we’re captured by them…”
“Tyler I’m so sorry” I said as my face sagged they too were great people, but I knew all hope was not lost, at least not yet… →0·☼╔╬♣╒r5î...to be continued…
