Valhalla

Gracie!
Character Name: Grace O’Malley (Granuaile Mhaille)
Race/Skin tone: Human, average
Age: 4 years older than Sebastian, ~1900 or so. Appears in her early 30s.
Gender: female

Appearance
Hair colour: long, pale blond
Eye colour: amber
Height: 183 cm (6’)
Weight/Build: 79 kg (175 lb), large frame, hourglass figure.
Tattoos/Identifying Markings: She has 3 blue circles tattooed under her right eye – one for every husband she’s buried. She has a scar beneath her left eye from when she was blind in it.
Clothing preferences: She prefers clothes that show off her ample bosom and toned stomach. She also loves corsets, mini-tanks, and leather. She doesn’t wear underwear. Ever.

Animal Companions: None
Abilities: Pirating, being loud, intimidating her brother when no one else can, keeping 200 + students in line.
Supernatural Powers: Magic – she is the guardian of Avalon, trained by Merlin and Morgana. She is more than adept at all kinds of magic – except Necromancy, which she never wanted to dabble in. The dead should be left dead.
Weapons: She doesn’t need a weapon – she’s Grace O’Malley!
General Personality: She's bi-polar, kind of insane, but it's not really a negative thing. She holds a grudge for a very long time, but is quick to accept apologies - especially from pretty people. Easily amused, and somewhat ADHD/ADD. She is a self-proclaimed nymphomaniac, and anyone that knows her will describe her as being “badass.” Exceptionally self-confident and energetic.
Current or Previous Occupations: Previously, she was a priestess of Avalon, and still holds that distinction to this day. When she left Wales, she became a pirate – and much later, a freelance reorganizer (which is just a fancy way of saying pirate). She recently opened a school, Valhalla School for the Gifted, and works now as the headmistress in competition with her brother, who runs Hale in New York.
Previous schooling: Taught magic by first Merlin, and then Morgana, picked everything else up along the way.
Years attending: She opened Valhalla.

History: Granuaile Mhaille was born to an Irish-man and a Celtic woman in Britain. Her first two years of life were spent with her mother and her father, until her father died of illness (probably pneumonia). Because of the customs of the time, her mother was forced to re-marry, and had to do so at the end of a year and a day period of mourning. Shortly after re-marrying, she gave birth to a son - Sebastian Brennan. Granuaile was glad to have a younger brother, even if it meant that her name change to Brennan had been unnecessary. Despite caring for her brother intensely, she picked on him quite a bit (mostly because she was much bigger than he was).

When she was eight, she and Sebastian got into one of their skirmishes as usual, but she ended up tripping over her own feet and falling down face first onto the ground. In the fall, the optic nerves in her left eye were severely damaged and she was left without sight in it. She blamed her brother, and swore to never forgive him for it, and it has taken nearly 2 millennia for her to do so. Shortly thereafter, she was taken by Merlin and taught the tricks of his trade. Years later, when she had exhausted his patience, she joined forces with Morgana, the half-sister of her half-brother's closest friend. They plotted together for years, and during that time, Granuaile had discovered her brother's apparent death. It didn't take her long to find out otherwise, and she vowed to live as long as he so that she could get her vengeance for her lost eye. It didn't take her long to succeed in what Merlin had failed to do - become an immortal.

She dropped out of sight for nearly a thousand years before coming back as a well-known historical figure - the infamous Irish pirate Grace O'Malley. This was a stint to ensure that Sebastian knew she still lived, and it was the period of her life that she enjoyed the most. During that time, she was married and had three children - one of whom was murdered, another was disowned for supporting the group that killed the first, and the third was simply too feminine for her to relate to. She dropped out of sight again in 1603, and finally caught up to her brother after losing his trail (he changed his name every few decades and she was backlogged on his known aliases) in 2003.

Grace had only vengeance on her mind, and after finding her way to her brother after meeting Brennan, her umpteenth great-niece, finally decided it was time to confront his about her eye. A few hours and a fairly violent confrontation later, the two had reached an accord – Gracie wouldn’t chase him anymore; all she had wanted was a sincere apology, and Sebastian, stubborn man that he is, was not forthcoming at first. It was an accident, he had figured, so why should it warrant any more apology than he had already given? It took Gracie actually defeating the former knight for him to apologize again, and in a way that Grace could begin to forgive her younger brother.

Not long after, Sebastian made a request of her. One of his lover’s twins had been kidnapped by a skinwalker, a particularly nasty demon with the ability to devour a being and wear their skin as their own. He had contacted another, a dimensional traveller named Gadget, but knew that Gracie would be able to help. Curious, and fond of the two little blighters, decided to go along with it and assisted in destroying the skinwalker and retrieving Morgan, the missing twin.

She then vanished, going back to Ireland to relax and gloat in victory over her brother.

Throughout the years since, she has been an off and on presence, showing up when it was convenient and she had a chance to flex her muscles. During the reign of Merlin, she worked as a pirate again, flying a complex hover-craft that she fondly had designed like an old pirate ship – with modern alterations. When Merlin took over, a former student at Sebastian’s school, Brent, was placed in her care – or, more accurately, stolen from Merlin’s ranks during a raid. Gracie amused herself by trying to teach the girl spellcraft, and though frustrated at Brent’s lack of success, was exceptionally fond of the girl – so much so that Brent joined the ranks of Gracie’s lovers (willing and unwilling).

She worked in stealing supplies from Merlin’s substantial army and providing them to the resistance movement – led by the recently recovered Morgan, the remaining twin. The other, Tobias, had died at the ripe old age of 89, while Morgan remained ageless at 22 – a turn of events that left Morgan insane and incoherent. A condition that Gracie was glad to learn had been reversed – for the most part – by Corinith, an old friend of Morgan’s, reborn.

When Merlin was defeated, she faded into the woodwork again, though continued working as a “freelance reorganizer” under Morgan’s payroll. Liking this, she continued her work – though was far more picky in her choosing. After a long while at this, she decided it was time for something new. Which was how she came to Sebastian, striking a wager with her brother – whom she had long since forgiven, as she had finally regained sight in her left eye and honestly had no point hating. Sibling rivalry remained, however, and the two decided to see who could run the better school – leading to Gracie opening the Hale sister school, Valhalla – her pride and joy. Brent, who had stayed with her the entire time (benefiting from Gracie’s exuberance and fondness, which left her long-lived like Grace), joined her on the venture.

Brian!
Character Name: Brian Harvey (Real name - Günther Korbinian)
Race/Skin tone:Mahdi Vampire, German.
Age: ~ 1090/Appears 26 or 27
Gender: Male

Appearance
Hair color: Chestnut brown, short
Eye color: dark blue
Height: 193 cm (6’4”)
Weight/Build: Medium-large build, lean muscular, 91 kg (200 lb)
Tattoos/Identifying Markings: A birthmark behind his knee, shaped almost like Italy
Clothing preferences: Casual, comfortable. When not in business casual for work, often wears sleeveless shirts, loose pants. Prefers neutral colours. In winter months, loves sweaters and layers.

Abilities: Bullshit detection, speaks nearly 25 languages – fluently, being able to laugh at himself.
Supernatural Powers: Well, he IS a vampire. Very strong, very fast.
Weapons: Keeps a 6 inch pocket-knife within reach at almost all times.
General Personality: Brian is something of a tough guy. He's extremely easy-going, engages easily with others, and is, in general, an all around nice guy. However, he's extraordinarily impatient, and dislikes being smart-mouthed, dissed, or back-talked and has something of a shift in such cases to the point of near violence. His students know to behave in his classroom. He jokes often, and in the classroom he likes to engage and involve the students. He’s very emotional.
Current or Previous Occupations: Currently a language teacher at Valhalla School for the Gifted; previously worked as a carpenter before the housing market crashed, and then became a traveller.
Previous schooling: Formal education when he was a child, but it was largely of the "how to be a good son" variety. Other than that, no formal education - knowledge is largely from experience.
Years attending: He's been teaching for 5 years

History: Günther was born to extremely wealthy parents in the 12th century, in what would today be modern Germany. He doesn't recall much of his childhood, and in fact can barely remember how he became a vampire. He doesn't think about it much, not particularly liking his history. At 18, he married a pretty blonde widow two years his senior not long after the poor woman's previous husband passed away.

Seven years later, Günther's wife and newborn child died from the bubonic plague, and before Günther knew it, he had contracted the disease as well. He was in agony, but could do nothing - no doctors would treat him, nor would anyone even come to remove the rotting corpses of his beloved wife and daughter. He barely remembered what happened after his wife died, though he recalls the dark hair and pale skin of a woman, leaning over him and whispering soothing words of comfort - and then nothing.

When he next awoke, he was a vampire, the bodies of his family having been tended and cleaned – and his own as well. After that, he killed simply because he could for centuries, and only stopped after he was nearly destroyed by one of his potential victims - who happened to be a vampire hunter. He had finally snapped out of what had actually been a bout of insanity – he hadn’t been able to cope with the fact that he had outlived his wife and daughter.

After nearly seven centuries of travelling the world, he finally decided he wanted to do something... different, and moved to Great Britain under the assumed alias of "Brian Harvey" and was immediately hired as a language teacher at a private school - where he was told someone of his language experience was greatly appreciated and needed; his centuries of world travel had left him with knowledge of many, many languages. He accepted, figuring it would be a change and change was good – though he was intrigued by how many vampires like himself taught and lived at the school.

In his third year working at Valhalla, Brian met for the first time a freshman student named Kelly, who had been placed in his intermediate spoken Latin class. Inexplicably smitten, and knowing that it could never amount to anything, the teacher pined in silence. Not long later, he met Hala, a vampire far older than him, but Brian found that he lacked patience for her – especially when she seemed so absolutely clueless when it came to social situations. He understood why, having been told her story by Amir Adil, the librarian, but still couldn’t quite believe anyone could be so... lost. Because of this, he was glad that she was sharing a room with Kelly, who he knew was fond of and patient with the Egyptian vampire. Despite this, Brian felt an odd sense of jealousy at her being able to be so close to Kelly when he couldn’t.

A year later, a ski trip was hosted for the ski club in the Alps, the club that Kelly had recently been elected president of, and Brian, who allowed the students to actually go to the local pub, was made supervisor. He had initially been hesitant to let Hala come on the trip, but eventually conceded when he realized what kind of trouble she could get in away from Kelly. He hadn't anticipated that Kelly would be one of the students that stayed in the pub until after midnight, nor had he thought that the young man would all but toss himself upon him. The next morning, the two of them - Brian to a lesser degree - were somewhat upset with themselves, but quickly got over it - though they both refused to admit the situation to themselves. Brian was especially aware that he needed to keep quiet - less for himself, as he could easily change his name and move somewhere else - but for Kelly, who he knew couldn't risk being expelled. Brian’s jealousy at Hala increased – but he hid it, knowing that it would do nothing but upset Kelly – she was his best friend, after all. He was also aware that while he and Kelly had been going at it in the hotel, Hala had been right outside the door. He easily connected the dots, and felt a bit of pity for the girl.

Abilities: An awesome sense of humour, humility, able to pass for a little kid, curiosity
Supernatural Powers: Magic – name a type, he is more than adept at it. He is capable of performing multiple spells of completely different types simultaneously.
Weapons: His magic.
General Personality: Eccentric. Dante is a bit on the crazy side, but in an indirect and fairly low-key kind of way. He loves jokes and pranks, and finds it extremely easy to laugh – at himself and others. He’s exceptionally patient, but hates being mistaken for a little kid or called short. He’s not afraid of anything – though whether or not that’s a good thing is still not known.
Current or Previous Occupations: Currently a teacher of magic at Valhalla School for the Gifted. He still maintains his title of High Wizard of Hydric, though he no longer manages the magic in Hydric.
Previous schooling: He attended the Grey Academy, a magic school in Ditok, from the time he was very young until he graduated at 18.
Years attending: He’s been at Valhalla since shortly after Headmistress O’Malley opened the school 20 years earlier.
History: Dante is the older of twins born to Queen Beatrix of Hydric and her husband, High Wizard Helios Kaneil. Dante and his brother, Ian, never knew their older brother, Ireo, as he had banished himself shortly after they were born. Their country was torn by warfare for the first few years of their lives with the nearby nation of Trem, and though they didn’t know what was happening, even has children they knew it wasn’t good.

It was discovered early in their lives that Dante had extreme potential for performing magic, while Ian did not. The brothers, because of this, spent much of their childhood separated, both going about their own training. Dante for magic at Grey Academy, and Ian in the fighting arts and leadership. When the boys were barely five, their mother was kidnapped from the palace - the warrior queen was overcome, but managed to get a message to her husband in the form of a silver pendent worn by all regents. The pendent, capable of recording small messages, was left behind on her bed table, her voice echoing from it – “Protect them.”

It was this message that told Helios what he needed to do. The war with Trem had gone on long enough, and in a spectacular event, the kingdom of Hydric defeated the Trem threat – though did not regain their queen, as no one knew if she even still lived.

While the battle was raging, Dante had been sent to Grey Academy, a magic school that was mostly made up of females. He was one of 3 males in the school – one, he found out, was his nephew. The relatives were fast friends, and worked closely together throughout their years at the academy – and to them, the war that had only just ended was nothing to worry about.

Upon graduating, Dante at the top of the class, he returned home to Hydric only to have the position of High Wizard thrust upon him. His father could no longer handle the pressure of being both King and High Wizard, and knew his son was prepared for the responsibility – the boy was stronger than he was, anyway. The night Dante gained his title, there was a pecking at his window, and curious as he was, he stood and went to examine. There, perched on the sill was the largest raven he had ever seen, and she eyed him with intelligent and beautiful beady black eyes. When he opened the window, she flew in and landed on his bedpost, and Dante was surprised to hear her speak to him. Branwen, as he would learn she was called, had been watching him for years and decided that she would honour him with her presence as his familiar – but she expected respect from him. And she got it.

Years passed, and Dante, along with his brother Ian and other close friends, discontent with the false truce with Trem, made their way to the capital Trezbuens with the intention of finding out the truth about Queen Beatrix. On his way, he met his nephew and his travelling companions, a strange bunch, but didn’t stay with them long – they had their quest, and Dante and his friends theirs. After a long struggle, the group managed to not only find out about their queen, but were able to rescue her after nearly 20 years of imprisonment.

Home, Beatrix resumed her role as queen, and Helios, glad to finally be able to step down from power, permanently placed the High Wizard title upon his son. A few years later, the merging of the worlds through them all for a loop but Dante, amused by the turn of events, decided to explore.

Which was how he met Gracie, and came to be a teacher at her school, Valhalla School for the Gifted. It was a new adventure, and he liked it.

Tristan and Audrey!
Gaian Name: Lancelot was an ASSHAT
Character Name(s): Tristan and Audrey Ladraey
Race: Human
Age(s): 19 and 21
Sex(es): Male, female
Appearance(s): see Tristan above under Thanatos, see below Audrey. Both have hazel eyes.
Abilities: In Tristan’s case, bad luck. In Audrey’s case, the same.
Powers: None to speak of.
Weapons: Tristan has none, except for when Thanatos has possessed him – a scythe. Audrey has none, but punches, kicks and is generally combative.
Animal Companion: None
History: Tristan and his older sister Audrey were born and raised in Arnt by a middle-class father who’s first wife had left him, and second wife had died in childbirth. Neither siblings ever knew their mothers, and were not adversely affected by this fact. Audrey, strong-headed but still a kind young woman, spent much of her youth protecting her more feminine brother from ridicule by neighbourhood bullies. This protective nature and her strong resemblance to her brother had many of their peers mistaking her for a boy, and in her youth this didn’t bother her. It wasn’t until she was in her mid-teens that it began to have an impact, and Audrey began to act and dress more like a lady – and her brother, forced to lose his protector, finally learned to stand up for himself – if only a little bit. Tristan idolizes his sister, and always felt that she could do no wrong.

In general, they had an uneventful childhood, and a shielded one at that. At least, until their father died and Tristan made the stupid decision to try and bring the man back to life – resulting in his getting possessed by the God of Death, and Audrey getting kidnapped by the Trem government – because Tristan’s mistake reflected on her.

That bad luck? It’s a monster.
