            {Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time A/U: My character, Eyo'atsa, is betrothed to The King of Hyrule, Ganon. This post takes place after his personal guards come to get her, and she is informed that plans were moved up and that she has until the end of the day to leave her home to go to the castle.}

            Eyo paused and looked down as she thought about his words. The afternoon was already here. I’ll have to be fast… she thought to herself. She nodded to the men, then started to walk towards home.

            “I’ll be back when the shadow the sun casts is long, but it’s still light enough out to walk without a fire.” With that she walked at a fast pace towards home, but not so fast that it would look like she was rushing off. In reality, she was terrified. Neither her father nor her got any word of anything since he was summoned for his debt. They’d both been moping about at home, too, so they would’ve known. She decided to stop by the bar that she worked at to get her check first. When she walked in, the kind, old man named Donovin smiled at her.

            “Hello, Miss Queen,” he told her jokingly. She looked up at him with dread permeating her features. He frowned at her expression and came to stand right in front of her, behind the bar. Eyo placed her hands on the counter top hesitantly, and fake-smiled up at him.

            “Donovin, I need my final check please. I… just learned that the plans I told you, the ones that have to be kept silent, have been moved up…” she told him, softly so that the other patrons wouldn’t hear her. He narrowed his eyes in confusion.

            “When?” he asked.

            “Today.” She said, words heavy as lead. Donovin froze for a moment in shock, then turned away to get the rupees. He returned to her and placed them in her hands. He didn’t release her hands right away.

            “It’ll be alright, darlin’. Everything has a way of workin’ itself out,” he told her. His words did nothing to soothe the brewing storm of anxiety and fear of the unexpected. She smiled at him warmly.

            “Goodbye, Donovin. Thank you,” she told him, leaving and quickly as she came. That would be the last time she saw the second most important man in her life. Donovin had given her a job when she needed it the most, and had taught her everything she knows; she owed so much to him.

            She returned home and bore the news to her father, which didn’t go well. Hikan almost broke down crying had it not been for his great resolve to set a good example for Eyo. And she knew that had he broken down, there was no way she could resist.

            They spent the rest of the afternoon with each other, enjoying the last time they would freely be able to be together, and they even looked at the baby album Hikan put together of her as she grew up. That did it, though; first it started with a few tears, and soon it was a torrential downpour of sorrow. She didn’t want to leave her father all alone, and he just wanted her to be safe. Eventually, she was able to be calmed by Hikan’s soothing words, and the two of them set out in the early evening.

            This time, she came with a floor-length forest green cloak that she had used when it rained or was cold out. She had the hood over her head, and it seemed appropriate given the solemn air between the two. They held each other’s hands as they came closer and closer to the garden that was once her sanctuary, her oasis. Now, it was just a bad memory of the most tragic day of her young life.

            But she would be strong; she had to be. If she wasn’t strong, then all the pain she was putting her father and herself through was all for naught. Deep in her soul where she was shaking from fear at the unknown, now a warm, pleasant confidence started to grow. It seemed to be nothing more than a flicker, but now it blazed in her like a fire of unabashed bravery. Yes, she would be brave for her father so that she could make him proud and go as far as she could in this new life she was about to embark on.

            They saw the same two men she’d met earlier in the same spot she’d left them in, and she steeled her face and her heart so that she could not be shaken, and so that she would stand tall no matter what happened.

            “Hello again,” she greeted them cordially, curtsying slightly by dipping at the knees and bowing her head.

            “I am ready,” She told them. She then turned to her father, and smiled warmly at him. He returned her expression, and winked at her, then the two embraced for the last time. “Atsa, take care. Don’t forget who you are, and don’t forget your heart,” he told her in a whisper. She nodded, forcing the tears that wanted to fall back where they came from.

            The released each other, and she turned away from him, never to look back as she followed the two men. No regrets, no regrets. I can’t let my mind wander in the past whilst I move towards my fast-approaching future… she reminded herself.

            {This is an RP I'm currently in with my friend. It's a yuri about two girls who work in a brothel in feudal Japan. Her character is Koni, a former prostitute and now okami-sama (mistress) of the house, and my character is Hachi (Kosshaku Hachimitsu), a biracial (African and European) girl who ended up in Japan and then was sent to the brothel by a series of unfortunate events. She has long, soft and wavy honey-colored hair, caramel skin, and green eyes. She is slightly autistic, most likely haing Asberger's Syndrome. She hardly talks, is very OCD in that she has to complete things in 8's (that is a play on her nickname 'Hachi,' which means 'eight'), and she likes to climb up high to stare at the sky. The story is about the relationship of friendship and potentially something more between the two girls.}

The sun had disappeared from the skyline multiple hours earlier, casting the city of Kyoto into shadow. It brought about a peacefulness, one could almost say, though this feeling did not reach the red-light district, where the shady and pervese lurked. Even so, it did mean that, after business swelled, it would dwindle down and then the brothel would close for the night, bringing its inhabitants as close to peace as possible.

If she had to choose, she would say that this time was her favorite of the day; the large house, old and elegant, became silent, still. Hushed voices came from some of the rooms, and the occasional chuckle would sometimes reach the ear. There was no moaning, none of the carnal sounds of sex that made it painfully obvious that this place was more than just a pleasant little home, but a whorehouse. And besides, once business was declared done for the night, it gave her time to think. To remove the facade she wore for the clients, the small, reserved smile that failed to illuminate her eyes.

However, despite the contentment that had settled over her, Koni frowned. As per usual, one of the girls could not be so easily located. Hachi's room had already been checked, as had the usual haunts of the other females, including the tea room and dining area. Still, there was no sign of her, and this made the older woman worry. If Hachi was hurt, or... something worse...? She pressed a hand against her stomach, willing away the nervous fluttering trapped within her ribcage. There was, she reminded herself, one place she had yet to check.

Luckily, it wasn't hard to get onto the roof, though she never would have discovered this if not for Hachi. The problem was, however, that wearing a yukata and trying to navigate over the cold, hard tiles could be quite tricky, if not downright dangerous. So, hitching the fabric of her outfit up and holding it in place, she carefully made her way over to the spot where she could usually find the girl, when all other locations let her down.

And, much to her relief, there she was.

"Hachi...?" she called, speaking softly. From where she stood, she was unable to tell whether or not the girl had fallen asleep or was still awake. Whatever the case, she didn't think that being on the roof was a good idea, particularly when the now-dark sky had begun to cloud over, threatening a rainy night.

            The small, but lanky girl was sitting with her knees pulled up against her chest, and her hands on either side of her on the roof. She had her chin resting in the valley that her knees created, and her mouth was parted slightly. Her eyes stared unblinking up at the now-dark sky, the girl completely spaced out as she stared absentmindedly. Hair golden, honey-colored wavy hair was let out and blew gently in the breeze. Some of the locks of waves got in her face, but she didn't seem to notice or mind.

            She didn't move other than the light breathing that her lungs did, until she heard her name called. She slowly rolled back on her bum until her boy followed gravity and she fall back on her back, eyes fixed on the woman she knew as Koni, her mouth still slightly parted. This was how they greeted one another in the early morning, with Koni coming to find her and her falling over backwards and staring at her.

            She knew that it was time for her to go to inside now since Koni was there, so she rolled over, stood up, then walked over to Koni with no concern for the potential danger she'd be in if she slipped. She only ever looked her in the face when she was on her back staring up at her, and now she glued her eyes to the floor as she stopped in front of the taller woman. She held her hand up to Koni, and in it she had a green leaf. Hachi liked to give her seemingly useless presents as a sign of affection since she didn't like to talk too much.

            In her whole life, the only people who were nice to her were Koni and the late okami-sama of her old house. She had grown attached to Koni, since she was like her old okami-sama in that she always came looking for her and she took care of her. She made things for Koni, like ointment and medicines to prevent unwanted pregnancies for the other girls and lubricants of different kinds.

            No one knew how she knew so much about herbs and things like that, but they figured she'd learned it in a trade somewhere. The man who sold her didn't say anything more than she was a gaijin and what her name was, and she talk much, so she was a mystery to everyone.

So the girl was awake. That was good, the woman supposed, because at least now Hachi couldn't roll off the roof in her sleep, become drenched in the rain that would probably soon begin to fall, or something else. Something worse, maybe. Her frown deepening, she returned the stare for only a few seconds, before she became flustered and had to look away. "Hachi, you shouldn't be up here..." she softly reminded. Though Koni had said this exact thing countless times before, she knew that wouldn't change anything; the girl would still come up here, to the roof, and do whatever it was she did. Stare at the stars. Think.

Dropping her gaze, she watched as the younger girl's feet approached, cringing, waiting for one to slip and for the girl to go tumbling. It didn't happen, and for that she was grateful. Having become quite pessimistic after being introduced to the darkness of man, which took the form of money-hungry prostitutes and insatiable men, she always expected bad things to happen. When they did not, she was surprised, albeit pleasantly.

Because of the pessimism, she did not expect anyone to think of her enough to give a gift. Even little ones like those given to her by Hachi, which never failed to make her smile. Though she assumed no one knew, she kept a wooden box, lined with the softest of silk, which housed all of these little gifts and anything else that she received. Proof of human kindness, she would think whenever her eyes would settle upon it, and then she would smile.

"Thank you..." Koni murmured, extending her hand and accepting the leaf, which she wrapped her fingers delicately about, careful not to crush it. With the other hand, she pushed a chunk of long, black hair behind her ear. "It looks as if it might rain tonight... Why don't you come inside and eat dinner with the rest of us? Your company would be much appreciated."

            When Koni thanked her for the gift she gave her, Hachi looked up at her and smiled brightly. She was happy she accepted it. She then stood up on her tippy toes and kissed her lightly on the lips as a sign of deep affection. Then, she ran off down the ladder stairs without a second thought. The mention of dinner was enough to drive Hachi mad if someone other than her served and cleared the dishes. She had to do it all because she was the only one who was as clean as she was.

            Within seconds, she had her yukata sleeves tied up her arms and the end of it hiked up and tucked into her belt, which showed a bit of her right thigh off, but she was oblivious. She had people to serve. With the last of the girls filing into the large eating room, Hachi expertly dished out beautifully set up meals in front of all the spots where someone would be. She stopped once she reached Koni's spot and placed the food there, stared down at her empty spot, and blinked a few times. One of the girls noticed Koni had not yet come in yet, and called for her.

            "Hey, Koni! Dinner's ready! Better get here quick before Hachi-chan loses it," she said, causing a few chuckles to go about. It was true, though; any time Koni wasn't where she should be, Hachi froze for a few seconds, and sometimes went ballistic, screaming and tossing the house into pandemonium.

            In Hachi's mind, she backtracked her thoughts all the way back to where she'd left Koni, on the roof. She remembered that she didn't hear her following her, and thus she was still where she was. Hachi knew that she left the roof before Koni always, so Koni would come later always. So she was just a little later than usual. That's all it was. Instead of losing it, she decided to stand right there and stare at the door until Koni came into the room. She girl who'd called after Koni looked up at Hachi and shook her head with a smile.

            "That Hachi really loves Koni. How adorable. Who do you think's the uke in the relationship, though?" she asked, which warranted outrageous laughter. Hachi closed her eyes at the sound of the laughter, and smiled ever-so-slightly, seeming to like the noise.
