These days everyone has a blog or personal webpage of some sort. MySpace, Facebook, Gaia, etc. And if they don't, then they're probably going to be forced to get one by one of their friends or they will finally give in to peer pressure and decide, "Oh, the hell with it."
This is vitally important to our social structure. There was a time when regular, every day people like ourselves had to go out and actually talk about things and discuss them with others, rather than ranting on and on over LiveJournal or Facebook, hoping that someone will come along and read whatever s**t we've produced and actually like it. However, since this doesn't happen that often, all of our thoughts that are supposedly private but subconciously wanted to be shown to the whole world are being leaked out into the great trash heap that is the internet. Take this example for instance: 15 year old Melanie really has a grudge against her friend Diana for accidentally stealing her boyfriend of two days. Instead of talking to Diana and trying to work things out with her friend, Melanie writes about Diana on LiveJournal, thinking that Diana will never see it, but that the rest of the world will and feel sympathy for Melanie's situation. There are hundreds of Melanies in the world, all spreading useless crap onto the internet about what whores those Dianas are.
Seriously, can we chill out for a second? Can't we talk about things any more, like we used to? Oh, and, by the way, the Dianas that are being bashed by those Melanies actually CAN see the s**t that's being written about them, and understandably, they probably don't like it that much.
Assuming that someone IS reading this, they may think, "What a hypocrite this girl is. Here she is, writing about how bad blogs are when she's using one to broadcast her own views!" Yes, this is true. I am a complete hypocrite. Using an online journal to give my 2 cents on this matter. However, I admit to this. So that makes it a little better, and (hopefully) helps keep me off of the rack of judgement for now. I use online journals very rarely, and when I do, it's usually to rant about something. But when I do, I try to make my rantings as balanced as possible, and try not to make them about other people, because that's simply mean.
Well, I guess that's it then. Another boring, useless opinion to be thrown onto the heap of trash that we call the internet. Enjoy it while it lasts. I'll probably delete it in a few weeks, after I've gotten tired of looking at it.
