The Crusaders Will
A paladin of the light, finds his destiny.
I flew as fast as my feet could carry me, I eyed one warrior in particular, His armor a tattered and battle scared and his axe large, His eyes red with blood lust as he crashed upon human and night elf alike, cutting them down like saplings. As his axe came down on another novice footman, I intervened I swung hard arcing upward in an attempt to disarm the beast, the green skilled titan’s grip was strong. He roared in response and brought his axe down hard, getting caught in another soldier’s corpse. His axe was wedged in the back of the corpse, now was my chance. I dove shoulder first in to the orcs abdomen and pushed him away from his axe, Then swung my two hander hard into his side; slicing the young orc in half. Suddenly from my left a hefty spear jetted past my ear, I hardly had time to respond. I leaned right quickly, and deflected the spear with my silver gauntlet, only to whirl around and face the Savage troll that now challenged me. He wasted no time in slicing with his spear, with the spear head nearly inches away from my eyes. Finally in one of his spear thrusts I spotted an opening, I bobbed underneath the spear shaft as it shot towards me and thrust my sword clear through his stomach. The trolls yellow eyes rolled to the back of his head as he cried out in pain. “Fire! The skies rain fire move for shelter” I heard the High General shout. I turned to the skies and stared in terror as the sky opened and unholy green flame began to fall upon us. The soldiers, horde and alliance alike, scattered like rodents to find protection from the flames, And then…an eerie silence befell the battlegrounds….I looked to a member of my party who had take his position in a tree nearby as an archer. A night elf rogue by the name of Sansel. He gave me a puzzled glance and shrugged his shoulders. Then turned his head quickly as a loud surreal roar pierced the air, and echoed through out the entire sky. The Unholy cry sent shivers down my spine.

I made my way out first, and stared off into the distance, where only a green and silver tide could be seen. The waves of orcs beating down on the infantrymen before them like a steel drum. Occasionally a spray of red, followed by the condemning cry of either side could be heard. The sheer mass of the green beasts was enough to turn a brave man into a sniveling deserter. I closed my eyes and asked the light to strengthen my resolve and that of my company. “For I am a servant of the Light, please grant me the strength to defend the people of these lands.” Suddenly I felt my muscles tighten, and my war sword seemed to be lighter in my hands. I turned to look at my group as they stood battle ready, weapon unsheathed and there eyes burning with a new determination and confidence. I pulled my blade up to my armored chest and grasped it tightly with both hands, then rushed onward to the front, the sounds of battle growing louder as each figure became more distinct. My company of course followed. The dwarf of our group lagged behind with our priest providing ranged support with his blackened blunderbuss, and immediate protection for the priestess who rushed to join the other healers in there efforts to keep the moral and vitality of our army strong.

The Giant wooden gate of Storm wind stood tall, imposing to the soldiers that hid behind it and used its sturdy planks to keep safe. “Soldiers of The Alliance, the time has come for us to meet the devils head on and rejoin the flank.” I proclaimed, trying to be heard over the clashing of shield and sword that took place beyond the walls. “Leave no orc devil on his feat, and let every orc son a b*****d…” but before I could finish my rallying speech the gets fell open. My men looked weary, and who could blame them, all intelligence had indicated that the horde would fall upon us like water, splashing among the side ineffectively. But the Horde was full of orcs, trolls, and tauren, warrior races that favored a glorious death in battle to that of survival. We would not find them retreating anytime soon.

The time was dire, we were held back behind the walls of the keep, hearing our last rights, from our priest. She spoke of hope, and the final journey we would make to the next life. Her voice was soft and comforting, like a lullaby. Her night elf eyes glowed bright yellow in the shadows of the night, our armor only glistened in the light of the torches. The poundings upon the wall were becoming more violent, this would mean that the hordes artillery had closed its distance.
However, my attention was held else were. My focus was being held by the raging battle outside, and the sword and sharpening stone I had in hand. I was very proud of my blade. It was a gift from a fellow warrior who had fallen in a previous battle. He had saved my life almost as many times as I had saved his, with this very blade. I eyed the darnassian crafted sword with a revered honor. “warrior.” My thoughts were interrupted; I turned my attention to a footman, clad in the tabard of the alliance. “Yes?” I answered hastily. “The front line has been breeched, take your party, and rejoin the front, your time for rest has come to an end.” I looked to the priest and nodded, in response she uttered a short prayer and raised her hand above her head. Suddenly I felt much of the vigor I had lost defending the keep, restored to me. My company arose and unsheathed there individual weapons, they were fully aware of what was to come.
