Syncus heard a scream from the room in which his wife, Anaki, presently resided. At that moment, he knew that he would not be able to allow Anaki her rights to raise their newborn child. As the doctor rushed out of the room, Syncus caught her by the arm.
"You shall tell no one what you know", he growled to her. The doctor nodded and ran from the house.
Opening the door to a room, Syncus found his wife silently crying and sitting as far as she could from the baby, both on the bed. Syncus took the baby to a table and cleaned and wrapped her in a blanket.
Turning to Anaki, he spoke softly.
"Our baby is a girl. We shall name her Damien. As you already know the name fits her perfectly."
Anaki's eyes widened with anger.
"You should have told me!" she scremed at him. "I would have never agreed to help you create a monster!"
Damien began to cry at her mother's first screaming word. Syncus took Damien to another room down the hall and fed her milk given to him by a she-wolf. The baby refused at first but soon began drinking knowing it was all she would receive for the time being.
Syncus then teturned to his wife and cleaned her up as well. She refused to look at him but he ignored the jesture and continued to speak softly to her.
"You must rest for at least a week to recover from the brith. I will tend to you until you are strong enough to journey back to your parents. You will then tell them, and everone else to whom you speak, that I was killed protecting you and the baby and that they took the baby before we could name her. You must keep to this lie for your daughter's sake."
Anaki began to silently cry again. This time she spoke softly in return.
"I don't not love her. She is a monster just like you. You should both be killed"
"You know as well as I do that you love that child. You can not help it." Syncus replied.
Anaki struck Syncus across the cheek and hard as she could, but Syncus neither flinched nor showed any signs of feeling any pain. Anaki then decided it would be hopeless to fight the monster. Suncus smiled and kissed Anaki on the cheek.
"Would you like me to get you anything, my love?" Syncus asked her.
Anaki shook her head. "I don't want anything from you, you b*****d."
Syncus laughed. "Anything you receive from this point forward will not be from me. It will be delivered to you through my hands from God."
Anaki thought this through then nodded. "Bring me whatever you see fit," she replied.
