As some of you may know I recently took a holiday to the emerald isle (Ireland).
It was an interesting trip, on the way we got lost driving from the airport at Shannon, so we stopped for dinner in Pallasgreen at eight in the evening, dining at Whelans (VERY good food.) We stayed in a small Country House B&B near Newinn, and visited one town more than any other (because our family were visiting there too). We were there for my Grandfather's wake, to commit his ashes to his home soil. It was an Irish wake, so there was not much sadness and a reasonable amount of alcohol consumed by our Irish relatives and family friends.
The town we most visited is Clonmel (Cluaun Méala) and while there I saw something quite odd. On the hill over the Suir (the river south of the town) there were white markings. The first thing I thought of, being a wierd little anime-addict freak-n3tm4n-boy, was alien invasion. It was only after a few conversations involving Hurling (a popular sport in Ireland involving sticks and balls, much like Lacrosse but with no nets on the sticks and a much smaller and heavier ball,) that I realised the figure on the hill was holding such a stick, and had a small ball floating before its 'face'. Damn, no aliens.
We took a drive up some mountains (Slievenamon, the Galtees) and a town called Carrick on Suir, which I misheard as "Charicature". That created some interesting and embarrasing conversation.
On the way back to the airport we stopped outside of Tipparary town to take a picture of me next to its sign. Anyone who doesn't know the song "It's a long way to Tipperary" should be ashamed. The picture can be seen as part of my Profile's banner.
It was in Ireland on our third night that I discovered I can actually draw worth a hae'penny (half-penny), and I've been practising Manga drawings since. Some of my stuff can be found here.
