For my health class, we had to either write a poem or do a piece of art. As you can tell, I chose the poem. Yeah, I've been doing alot of poems for school this year lol.
She sits on her bed How could this happen to me? The question rings in her head No longer can she be free A tear rolls down her cheek As she thinks about her life Now her future looks so bleak Nobody would want her as a wife
Once infected you can't get away AIDS affects so many every day
It only takes one One foolish mistake Is a night of fun Worth all the pain when you wake? Think ahead It's not that hard Before you get in bed Else for life you'll be scarred
Once infected you can't get away AIDS will kill you day by day

Poem: Dark Assassin (based on the book) |

In my English class, we have to do projects after reading a book. I wrote a poem based on Dark Assassin by Anne Perry. If you plan on reading it, this poem may spoil. But you can understand it without having read the book.
Dark assassin Where do you hide? Dark assassin Feeding lies into their minds
First you kill the father For you, he was a bother You made it look like a suicide People believed by his own hand he died
But the daughter, she knew Though she hadn't met you She knew murder befell her dad No way he could have been mad
So she began her search Needing truth to quench her thirst She must clear the name of her kin For suicide is a sin
Fearing what she may do Her you killed too People believed she took her own life Due to internal strife
As the killer you almost had no face Until William Monk took the case He almost lost it but found you out You were a killer he had no doubt
Dark assassin Now you too are dead Dark assassin You paid in the end

Another poem we had to do for English. This one doesn't follow any specific pattern. This was also done in partners, so my friend gets credit for this as well. She was the one to come up with the idea for this one.
In the freezing snow People of all ages play It sparkles like diamonds A bride receives on her wedding day
Snowball flying The children laugh The go sledding down a hill Screaming, "Go fast! Go fast!"
When the playing is done And the battle is won The craving for hot chocolate has begun They go inside and talk about their fun

Another poem I wrote for World Literature. This one is my personal favorite. It's a tanka poem. A tanka is a Japanese style poem. It has 5 lines 3 of which must have 7 syllables, and the other 2 lines have 5 syllables. They are something you have to think about, since the meaning isn't said outright.
Life has been fulfilled Standing in the field Of you, only thoughts remain Wind blows my petals away Last flower of the season

This is a poem I had to write for my Wold Literature class. We had to write as if we have been away from home and we miss our family. It's a free-verse so it follows no specific pattern.
Dear mom, dear dad, oh how I miss you Dear little sister, you I wish to see too Without you life just isn't the same Every day I feel as if I'm just soaking in rain I miss the hugs and kisses I miss the goodnight wishes Without you I feel so lost Even freedom comes with a cost Some go on without their family just fine But I could never live without mine Without you I feel so lonely I want to go back home, my one and only.

Some of the many questions of life... |

Did you ever wonder:
Why is big a smaller word than small? If two negatives make a positive, why don't two wrongs make a right? On a report card the grades are A, B, C, D, and F. What happened to the letter E? Why do nursery rhymes make no sense? Like in the one that goes something like "Rock-a-by baby on the tree top. When the wind blows the cradle will rock. When the bow breaks, the cradle will fall, and down will come baby cradle and all." Who in their right mind puts a baby and cradle on a treetop in the first plce?!? And this one "It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring. He went to bed and bumped his head and couldn't get up in the morning." What does an old man have to do with the rain? When somebody is sick, why do we say they are "under the weather"? Aren't we always underneath the weather? Because we certainly can't be over it unless we are above the clouds! What's with the saying "on top of the world"? Unless you are floating around or flying through the air, you are on top of the world. The word abbreviate is somewhat ironic, given it's meaning. It's so long we actually abbreviate the word abbreviate.
I'll put some more unanswered questions up when I think of them...
