............................................Chapter One- Horned Beasts

...........Silence took over the woods. The wind held its breath and the eyes of the trees all stared in wait. A figure walked down the small path animals had created in the woods. A dark cloak floated around them and a large hood covered their face. Their step was quiet and careful but soundless.

............A low russle in the distance made the figure freeze. There was again silence before a loud snort was heard. The figure twitched as it debated what to do. The hesitation triggered a loud rawr. A towering beast tore through the woods. The figure glanced behind it with wide yellow eyes before running. The beast taking chase snorted. The long horns on top of its head snapping any branch that got into its way. The beast's hooves pounded the grounded shortening the distance between them. It reached out its muscluar arm and just barely touched the end of the cloak. The figure took off the cloak and tossed it into the beasts face in one moment. The cloak wrapped around its face and caught on its horn. Roots from a large tree caught its hoove sending it tumbling to the ground.

.............It scrambled to its feet letting out a frustrated rawr. Its clawed hand ripped the cloak off of its face. The cloak figured was a woman with dark colored armor. The beast steadied itself and lowered its head. It walked closer till it was inches away from the woman's face and slowly raised its hand. The woman than flicked the beast's nose. The beast frooze, suprised.

............"That was my new cloak," she said. The beast just blinked at her. "You minatours don't wear much clothing so you probably don't understand all that much hmm?"

............."You'd be the one throwing it at my face! Besides only a meek creature would need something as pathetic as a cloak." The creature snorted.

............."It's close to supper and I could use some food. Now..." The woman pushed down on the head of the minatour and climbed onto it. She sat behind its head, dangling her legs off it's shoulders. "Onward."

............ The minatour lifted its head. It grabbed the shredded cloth and started to retrace their steps. "I have half a mind to boil you up in a stew."

............."Too bad your kind is vegetarian," the woman said.

.........."You'd be too tough anyway." He snorted.

.........The woman rested her arms on the minatour's head. "Too tough for your delicate jaw I'm afraid."

......"Hush Blythe, you tire me," the minatour said.

....."Or am I the little bug in your ear telling you things you don't want to hear?" The woman, Blythe, laughed.

....."More like the bug biting my shoulder that has the future of being wacked." The minatour rolled its huge eyes.

...."I only mean fun, Winthrop." Blythe smiled.

....Winthrop gave a sharp snort.

...."Don't you snort at me. You think it fun too."

....Winthrop froze where he stood. He's ears perked up then searched the woods. His nose flared up and he took sharp sniffs.Winthrop slowly lifted his head closer to the tree above him. Blythe slowly stood up on his shoulders and climbed it. Wintrhop's muscles tensed and he gave out a loud challenging snort. Blythe slowly pulled out a dagger from her boot. She searched the woods for what Winthrop sened and saw nothing.

....Hoofbeats, that sounded like thunder, came apon them. Winthrop turned around and slammed his horns into the horns of another minatour. The other minatour stepped back before reached out for Winthrop's shoulder. Wintrhop lowered his head and head butted the other minatour. Blythe rolled her eyes and put her dagger away.

..."When you two are finished you may join me for supper," She replied. She started to climb down the tree. "Though I am impressed Ansley. You're stealth is something."

....The other minatour, Ansley, pushed away from Winthrop.

...."It's the smell that gives him away." Winthrop sneered, headbutting Ansley.

....Ansley was richer color than Winthrop. When Winthrop was a pale brown, Ansley had a red tint to his coat. Ansley's horns weren't as big as Winthrop's horns but he was just as tall. When Winthrop was bulker, Ansley was leaner. This made Ansley faster.

...."Thank you Blythe, and as for you." Ansley head butted Winthrop back. "You're smell is more faul than mine. I could smell you miles away.

...Woodborne Minatours were always training amonst themselves. Even the younger calfs play was training. They were for the most part left alone in their woods. Now and again a wanna be hero would come into their woods and try to slay such a beast. Always unperpared and defeated. The woodborne Minatours are more known for their playfull competiveness than their aggression. Aggression isn't bred out of them though, they are worthy warriors and will defend their forest. They are a more peaceful clan and amonst the wiser of the Minatours.

...."Blythe's smell has far surpassed mine." Winthrop snorted.

..." I may be smelly but I can run faster than the both of you." Blythe smiled. "Out of the two of you though I would think Ansley is faster."

..."That be a lie!" Winthrop tossed his head.

..."Than proof is truth!" Ansley pawed at the ground.

...The two looked at eachother than charged toward the opening in the trees where the path to the village was.

...."That's one way to get them to get home." Blythe smiled. She picked up the pieces of her shredded cloak and walked after the two minatours.

....................Chapter two- A Fair Warning

....The two minatours were far out of sight. Blythe breathed in the air and could smell the hint of rain. The wind was starting to pick up and the trees were swaying. There was a slight moan of the trees and russle of the leaves. Blythe looked up, seeing an bird with a red tint to it.

......"I haven't seen that bird around before." She whipsered to herself.

......She heard something behind her. There was something moving. Blythe took a step back to lean against a tree she was standing in front of. She barely breathed as she listened. Figures to her right slowly started to move forward. Their armor was camouflaged to blend into the forest. Even their weapons, which were rigged edged swords, were dimmed to blend. More and more of these people emerged from the forest, moving slowly as to not make any sound. Blythe stayed closed to tree as people started to move past her. Her heart started to race as she realized they were going to the Minatour clan. There was going to be an attack. Sweat started to break out across her face. She couldn't take them on by herself. She had to do something quick or they would notice her. She had to warn the minatours.

......There was no time to summon any creatures. If she took to the sky they could shoot her down. She sighed quietly as gray fur started to cover her face. It was a quick motion. Her face formed a muzzle, her armor warped into musled fur arms, and she hunched over. Bone plates started to cover the shoulders and spine of the dire wolf she had become. The moment her transformation was complete she bolted forward. Quiet shouts were heard and arrows were shot. A few arrows bounced off the armored bone plates but a few hit her side. As she ran past a few of the men they swung their swords. She swayed and jumped away from them.

.......She ran as fast as she could through the paths she knew. When she got out of range of the arrows she stopped for a moment. She threw her head back and let out a peircing howl. It was sharp and loud. It was a warning. A louder warning than the trees. The trees had been trying to tell them all along, there were intruders. The howl was cut short. She heard the men starting to run through woods now. She contiued to run.

........It wasn't far before she heard the familiar thunder approaching them. She turned around and faced the approaching threat. She let out another peircing howl but this time it was deeper. Her fangs showed as she let out a threating growl. A man came from the forest with his sword raised. A minatour jumped over Blythe and swung its arm at the man. The man flung into the forest. The minatour let out a loud feirce growl. The anger of these minatours would bring out the legendary aggression.

........The men seemed to be taken back by the brute strength of the minatours. Blythe turned back into her human form. A blue light wrapped around her arm then formed on the ground. From the dirt a large gray furred dire wolf emerged. It shot off into the woods, chasing whatever man was close enough. From the corner of her eye Blythe could see a hint of red in the sky. It was the same red bird. It was circling in tight circles. Blythe looked underneathe it and fighting below it was the King. His size was just the hint of the power he possessed. There were scars on his body, a scar on his face went into the direction of his missing horn. He was no stranger to battle.

........A low growl came within the woods. Dark brown fur blurred by as a large bear slammed into the king. The King stumbled a few steps back. The King raised his beautifully crafted axe but the bear pushed it to the side. Another bear went for the King. Blythe's body warped quickly into that of a huge were bear. She slammed into the other bear. These were men, men with werebears, attacking the Woodborne clan. Blythe used the feiry of the bear to defend herself. The bears were feirce and angry. An axe swung down against the bear's cheek, sending it to the ground. The King had killed the bear that attacked him and was now roaring angerily at the bear he just killed. Blythe took a step back. A loud roar eachoed through the forest as a beast approached them.

...........A large were bear approached them. It's armor showed that it was the one leading the attack. The King let out a roar that was just as feirce. No fear was in the King, just rage. Blythe didn't have a moment to watch before she saw another approaching bear. It was confused as to why she was standing in front of it, without armor. She let out a snarl before slamming her claws into its face.

........The forest was no longer quiet. Sounds of battle echoed throughout it. Blood was staining the forest floor now, painting the trees. The rain started to fall down. As if the forest was trying to rid of the battle already. The clouds were darkening and the light was going dim. The men of the battle has been slayen or have fled. The werebears were a worthy enemy to the minatours but they were sloppy in battle and were lower on numbers. Both minatours and werebears were brutally powerful. The minatours were more skilled which gave them the upper hand.

......Blythe ran back toward the King. Both the werebear and him had locked weapons. Blood dripped from the side of the werebear's face and blood oozed from the long gashes on the King's chest. Minatours that surived the battle started to gather around from a distance. They were letting out sharp snorts. The minatour of Woodborne belived that anyone has the right to fight. They also belived that it is you who decides whether your fight is your own or with your people. Your choice is always honored even if that means your faced with death.

.........Winthrop stood by Blythe's side. She changed back into her human form. Arrows were still embedded in her skin. Blood dripped from her forehead. She wiped it away. The minatour King let out a short weez as he swung his head down onto the bear's. The bear opened his mouth and scrapped the top of the King's head. The King let out a low roar that started to get louder. The other minatours around him started to let out loud roars and snorts. The King Kicked the bear in the gut, pushing him back. The bear swung his axe but the King slammed his onto it. The bear's axe was sent into the ground along with the King's. The bear swung his arm hitting the shoulder of the King. The King grabbed the arm and swung his head down onto the bears. The bear stepped back and the King followed him. The King swung back his head again and slammed it into the bears. Again he swung his head back tearing into the bears flesh with his horn. The bear let out a moan than bared his teeth and swung his arm. The King whiped his head around and slammed it against the bear's again. The claws of the bears ripped into the King's shoulder before the bear's body went limp.

........The King looked around at the minatours around him and stayed quiet. His nose flared as his sides heaved. He looked off into the distance with his ears listening in all directions. He would've been smelling the air if blood wasn't filling his nose. The rain was comming down harder, washing away the blood that was splattered and dripping from their bodies. Winthrop towered over Blythe keeping some of it off of her. Before the King's soldiers could start to rejoice he spoke.

............"I do not know of why this attack was apon us. I do know it's a threat not to take likely. The bears looked to be the armor of Calhoun."

............."Why would they attack?" A minatour asked.

............."They were trying to ambush," Blythe spoke. "Something they are very unlikely to do."

............"Calhoun is small, why would they use the soldiers they have against us?" Another minatour asked.

............" We are a few heads more than they," the King said. "I will think apon what we need to do next. It will be a swift but wise thoughts. Those who are injured please get treated for if another attack is apon us, strength is going to be vital. Staand out those who wounds are less."

...........All the minatours stepped foward.

..........."My heart is honored by this courage. Courage ignores wounds, but also knows when there are wounds to be healed." The King nodded to a few minatours who's injured were little to none. " Watchers are needed. Require weapons and armor. Food will be brought to you. The others get treated and rest for my decision."

...........The wounded minatours started to walk toward the village. Blythe followed beside Winthrop. He's pace was slower but his head was held high. The pain of the arrows inside her side started to throb. Every step was painfully moving the muscle that was cut. Winthrop stopped and lowered himself close to the ground. Blythe walked over to his shoulder and sat down on it. Winthrop slowly raised him, his leg unsteady for a moment.

.........." I'm honored to fight with your people." Blythe whispered.

.........." My people are honored to fight with you." Winthrop whispered back.
