Sorry that I could not write for the last couple days, but I was unable to get to my computer. The unicorn had taken me to the middle of a desert and I was caught up in a terrible event. This is what happened. I got off the unicorn. I realized were I was. It was dark. I saw a light coming from about a mile away. I stumbled through the mountains of sand until I was just a few dozen yards away from a campsite. There was about a dozen men all gathered together around their fire. A small caravan was coming from southeast of the tiny campsite. The caravan stopped when they reached the group. A few tall, dark men dismounted their mules and strode over to where the others where gathered. One man carried a large wooden chest. He brought it before someone who I assumed was the leader of the group. The leader opened the chest and inside it were thousands of pieces of gold currency. He nodded his head and took the chest into a small tent just south of the campfire. The group of men from the caravan joined the other group. The leader came from the tent carrying a large skewer, an ax, and a leash, tied around the neck of a lamb. One of the men took the ax and slaughtered the lamb. I normally would have cringed at the sight of this but I was too engrossed with what was going on. They skinned the lamb and roasted it on the campfire. The men all became very quiet and all of their attention was now on the leader. He spoke something incoherently. It sounded very important. I silently moved closer, hiding behind a sand dune. I was just a few yards away now and I could hear everything they were saying.
"The human race is NO longer good. They are EVIL and useless, we must destroy all of them before they RUIN everything."
"Isn't that a bit cruel, against what we stand for?"
"DON'T INTERRUPT! Well... does anybody have ANY good plans to do this?"
"Why must we destroy the whole human race? Why don't we just kill the bad ones?"
"Shut UP! They are ALL bad!... Hmmm... we'll VOTE! Anybody in favor of killing all of the humans, raise your HAND!" Not a single person raised their hand. "FINE! We will seek out all humans who deserve to DIE and we will KILL THEEEEEEM!" The other men cheered and yelled. I had no idea what to think. Oh no! I had to sneeze. It was coming. I held my breath. It stopped and I sighed with relief. One of the men noticed and turned around quickly to see what it was. I ducked.
"Somesings heeere! It cummed fum ober dere." He pointed a stubby finger in my direction.
"Let's go check it out!" Two men readied their swords and cautiously walked toward me. I covered my face with my jacket and started to bury myself in sand. They got closer and I froze. I could hear their muffled voices. "I don't see anything."
"Could have been a springbok." They started to leave. I couldn't hold my breath any longer. I inhaled. I breathed in some sand and started choking. Oops! They heard that. The men ran back and dug me up. "Ha HA! This ain't no springbok."
"Ohh. A little eavesdropper. Let's show her to the others!"
I saw there faces. They frightened me. They're eyes were full of hatred and revenge. I knew I would not live to get back home. The men dragged me to thier leader. "Look what we caught! A human!"
"Heh heh. Well DONE! This will be the first human we punish. Eavesdroppers are USELESS and EVIL!" He took me by the collar and lifted me off the ground. " Look everyone! Let's PUNISH her!" The men yelled and jeered. The men who found me handed their leader his ax. The leader dropped me. Two men broke my legs and arms. I screamed. The leader lifted the ax high over his head and swung ................... I opened my eyes he was gone and in his place was a loaf of bread and a pile of clothes. The men were all frozen, eyes wide with fear. I looked up. Something was flying through the air. It was roundish. It fell to the ground. A cloud of sand filled the air. There was a delicious aroma. It smelt like something was baking. The cloud of sand cleared and there, right in front of me was a basketball-sized muffin. It leaped. A few men fell to the ground. They had been hit with ninja throwing stars. Poof! The men all turned into loafs of bread. Then came more ninja muffins. With several more leaps and poofs every single man there had been turned into bread. I picked one up. It was sourdough. I took a bite. I found another. It was rye. I gathered them all. There were so many different types of bread. Yummy.... were did the rest of the caravan go? It had disappeared. What would happen to the human race now. Whoa! Why can I move? My limbs had been broken. Suddenly they had been healed. Crazy! Well... I had to get home somehow. I needed to save the world from this terrible cult that was out to demolish my kind. I took one of the mules that they had left and rode east until I came to a small village. Two days had already past since the unicorn had taken me here and disappeared. I was tired, hungry, and I would die if I didn't get water soon. I knocked on the door of the first house I saw. An old lady and her grandson, about four or five years old, kindly welcomed me in and asked to hear the story of what had happened. I told them everything. "I know that group of people. They aren't human. They come from another planet. They call themselves the Weltversorger. They supposedly make sure the world does what it's supposed to. It is rumored that they are the ones who killed off the dinosaurs...," explained the old lady. "You should go to sleep."
"You can sleep in my bed!" said her grandson sincerely.
I went to bed. I didn't fall asleep.... I heard footsteps. The door opened. It was the child. "Hi. Can't you sleep?"
"No."
"Where do you come from?" he asked me curiously.
"Well... I'm not really sure." I wasn't sure about anything at that moment.
"Here. It's a present." He handed me a small, round tin. "It's my favorite candy."
"Thank you!" I gingerly accepted the gift. It would be rude not to... and I desperately wanted something sugary. I opened the lid and took out two candies wrapped in plastic. I handed him one. He smiled and took it. We sat there and ate our candy as he told me about his life before he went to live with his grandmother. His parents had been killed by the Weltversorger. He did not mention why. He finished his story and said he was tired. I walked him back to his grandmother's room and went back to the bed I was borrowing. When it was past midnight, I saw something shimmer outside the window. I got out of bed and went over to the window. It was the unicorn. I took the tin and spelled out "thank you" on the bed using the candy the little boy had given me. I crawled out the window and mounted the unicorn. A few seconds and I was back in the vacant lot all alone.
