I joined Gaiaonline for the purpose of winding down at the end of the day.
I'll come on here whenever I'm stressed, bored, or simply wanting to chat.
Most of the time, it's just to kill time with the games,
but it's nice having people to talk to.

Lately, however, Gaia's been a source of distress,
since I've managed to add people to my friend's list who seem to always
want to start a fight. I say want because their side of the conversation
tends to lean in the direction of conflict, even when the topic has nothing
to do with opposing views at all.

I would go ahead and delete these people, since they're the minority,
but they're the sort that act like nothing happened the next day.
Explaining myself seems to do no good, even though most of the
conflict comes from misunderstandings of what was written.

When asked what exactly was bothering them, they usually go on
to try and quote me. The sad thing is that it's completely different from
what I actually said. Sometimes what I said is only a scroll away,
but they misread and misinterpreted the entire thing. My defenses usually
consist of my re-typing everything, and having to explain...
Unfortunately, this is met with some new reason for being upset with me.

One friend in particular actually said "you should't talk to me if..."
This was after she had initiated the IM session with me,
and then began to take offense at everything and anything.
After attempting to explain myself, she said "Don't talk to me. Bye!"

Of course, I tried just letting it blow over at first, in hopes that it was
just a bad day for them. Sure enough, it happened again and again.
Each time, I was said to be the problem. When it was all over,
apparently I was the one who was "forgiven".

I've managed to take advantage of the situation the last time something
came up; reminding myself that no, it won't get better, I deleted them.
I get the feeling I'll be confronted with the usual rant on how nice they are,
as they say that they're willing to forgive me...again.
