Log of Maiko's Life
I think for this journal I would like to discuss the life of my cat.
Maiko and the Kleenexs

Here is another installment of interesting stories about my cat. But before I go into that (hey! that rhymed), here is a little prelude for you to consider.. Now, as you may already know (especially those of you who have or had cats already) cats are weird!! I mean, they don’t really seem to think straight all of the time, and YOU just can’t seem to ever FIGURE THEM OUT!

For example, like they will rub your leg and meow (usually like crazy) and you will walk around the house saying, ok, do you want something to eat? No!? Ok, let’s see … you want to go outside then!?? No!? You want some water??? No!!? A squeek toy? ARRGGH!!! .. and the meowing and rubbing continues feaverishly .. and after exhausting all possibilities, the mind begins wandering into subjects that are really out there like .. You want a fishbowl with goldfish in it? You want to travel into outer space and fight and eat the vanquished alien mice you just killed? You want your own HDTV with TIVO so you can record your favorite shows during your 10 hour daytime naps? None-the-less, don’t try to pet them while they are in this mood (especially female cats) ‘cause you can guess what will happen to you!!! .. Yeah YOU GUESSED IT! … CHOMP! Well enough of that and on to the story..

Anyway, I suppose, this story has to do with the curious nature of cats. (and it is short to don’t get too worried) Anyway, I came home one day from work ‘cause I was going somewhere hastily (can’t remember right now what that was – but not important) and really didn’t have time to worry about Maiko and her shenanigans .. however, I did notice that she was not right behind the front door as she usually is .. (99.9% of the time when I come home and open the front door to come inside I experience a sort of BUMP where the door refuses to open .. and of course it is Maiko right behind the door waiting for me (basically a furry door stop of sorts) .. Apparently, Maiko is smart enough to be able to time when I arrive, so is usually waiting to begin her incessant meowing and rubbing.

However like I said she was not there .. and I remember saying to myself Hmmmm!?! That is weird! Oh well, she is probably exhibiting some other weird behavior permutation. I then rushed into the bedroom and began changing and then suddenly I caught something out of the corner of my eye which startled me. It was down near the floor kinda half under the bed and moving very very slow and deliberate. YIKES RAT!!? I jumped back and my head twisted quickly around only to see the strangest sight I have ever seen (up to this point anyway) .. It was a furry cat body with a Kleenex Tissue box where its head should have been! I blinked a few times trying to understand / comprehend this weird science experiment only to suddenly realize that it was Maiko with her head stuck inside this little square box that said Kleenex on the side.

WHAT THE!?!? I said, “Maiko!?” and I heard a faint little sound (muffled of course) coming from inside of the box .. sounded like a faint “meow”. I thought to myself .. “OH MY GOD!!”, then reached down and grabbed the box and pulled and NOTHING! I mean that little box was really stuck on there! I had to basically play tug-o-war (with Maiko’s head as the rope). I mean I pulled so hard that I thought Maiko’s head was going to come off .. and then suddenly the box let go with a kinda wine bottle cork sound. KFLOP! Finally Freed from the Chinese death trap from hell .. Maiko gave me a mean looking face, hissed at me and then bit me (hard I might add) and ran off!!

Now, is that a strange story or what!??? In conclusion, I will leave you a few questions (that have been plaguing / haunting me about this experience). 1) What the heck was Maiko doing anyways? Was she trying to get a Kleenex to blow her nose? I mean what purpose would a cat have for wedging their head inside a tight fitting box anyway? And, 2) what would have happened if I had not come home in let’s say, several days? She would not have been able to eat, or go to the bathroom (her cat litter box) ‘cause she would not have been able to find either .. could she have suffocated? Stupid Cat!
