There is no "I" in team. That's the most famous quote when it comes to sports. So why does my team, my school's badminton team, not follow it?
Everything is so complicated but it shouldn't be. A team is like a family, well at least that's what my brother's coach used to tell him, so why are we not a family? Why can't we be a family?
I don't get it. We're not a team. Hell, we're not even friends or anything. All we are is just a group of strangers that want the same thing--to play badminton. It's really pathetic if you think about it. Our coaches keep telling us that we have to act like a team but that's all it is, acting. Sad part is that we all can't act, no matter how hard we try.
What makes it even worse is that two of my "teammates" can't even get along. They got in a fight, a verbal fight, that contained a lot of swearing and accusing on both parts. One of them is one of my closest friends but the other is someone I used to kind of hang out with in seventh grade. They fought because one of our coaches lectured us on being a team. We didn't act like one, obviously but that guy who fought with my friend thought that it was everyone Else's fault. He blamed my friend and that's how they got into a screaming match.
It's so frustrating! stressed We can't even work as a team and on March 17th, we are going to have to act like one in front of another school. Gosh. You'd think that me venting would help but it just makes me think about everyting even more. Why is this happening? Why won't anyone just get over themselves and work together? Why is this "team" falling apart when the hard part hasn't even started? Why is it so complicated? I feel so whiny it's pathetic. Really pathetic. I just wish everything will work out by the time we March 17th comes around. We don't need to have that school playing to their advantage because my team is playing "every man (or woman) for his (or her)self."
