Aero's eyes slowly opened. He found himself on top of a bedding of hay that was spread out about the floor. The smell that filled his lungs was someone petrifying. The air was cold and thick, damp and foggy.

"Where... where am I?" He said looking around.

He stood up and looked at the bars that bound him inside.

"Jail... fantastic," he said sitting down against the wall gently.

Aero then heard sounds of someone walking down the hall, a guard approached Aero's cell and eyed him.

"You are the one who tried to rob the ship hm? Quit brave of you to try and pull a stunt like that. I'm truly surprised to see you awake right now, considering how bad that slash on your back was."

"Who are you?"

"Me? Ha ha, child, I'm the head of the guard here. Don't worry though, I'm not a ruthless predator."

The guard looked at Aero and studied him for a moment.

"Your a elf?" The guard asked.

"Indeed I am...," Aero replied.

"It's strange that your all the way out here. Don't you elves live in Ardania, up north?"

Aero stood and now a little worried asked, "where am I?"

"You, my friend, are in the middle of the woods. Well, the prison is here, in the woods, and... the palace, that a-way, so basically, your in the woods that belong to the city of Cyprus. You get what I'm saying?"

Aero nodded with a puzzled look on his face.

"Well! Anyways, my name is Ale, and I am in charge of watching you here. And that over there," he said pointing to a dog that has been watching them the entire time, "is Rex."

"Rex?" Aero replied.

"Yeah," the guard said standing up from kneeling down. "Now Rex here, is my um, partner in crime, he is my back up dog. Now he may look taunting and vicious, but let me tell you, he is as vicious as a piece of lettuce ok," the Ale said laughing.

"Why are you not trying to kill me right now for robbing your boat?" Aero asked.

"Oh! My dear boy that wasn't my boat, nor my goods on that boat, tis doesn't matter to me really. Had it BEEN my boat, well, I would be a bit mean, yes, but it, wasn't, was, not my boat, so don't worry."

"You pause quite often in your sentences," Aero said.

"Ah, well you see, uh. Yeah, good day Aero! I will be back to check on you later, Rex will watch you for now, like he has been the past fifteen minutes ANYWAY," Ale said looking at Rex opening his eyes wide and pointing at Rex."

Ale stood and began walking back up the stairs.

"Be nice!" He called down.

"Sure thing, like I'm going anywhere," Aero said bad sarcastically.

Aero sat against the wall looking at Rex. Rex rose to his paws and walked over in front of the gate and then sat there staring at Aero.

"what?" Aero said looking at the dog. "Shoo, woof, bark, go, fetch, begone."

The dog sat and continued looking at Aero and began panting. Aero, now with his eyes half closed said in a annoyed voice, "what do you want Rex, do you like my ears? Is it my ears? huh?"

Rex sat there and still continued staring Aero down as if peering into his soul.

"Ok dog your really freaking me out now. You want a bone? Huh? You some some hay?" Aero said throwing a few straws of hey towards the dog.

"Woof!" The dog barked.

"Oh so you do speak? Ok, woof." Aero replied.

"Woof!" Rex barked wagging his tail.

"Is this how people go crazy in prison? They get stared down by a dog on he opposite side of the bars? Hmm Rex?"

Rex began to move his head as if he was nodding to say yes.

"Oh! Oh really now! You think you can make me go insane by staring at me all day? Huh? Well you can't! You can't make me go crazy!"

Rex sat and looked at Aero and began panting again. Aero's eyes widened as he began to show anger on his face. Aero moved towards the dog and began to whisper at Rex, "ok, look here dog, I know what you're trying to do, your trying to make me go crazy, trying to make me yell so your buddy Ale up there will come down here and think that I'm just so crazy, that I will need to be disposed of and become YOUR DOG FOOD. See I know what your trying to do, and your plan, isn't going to work because I'm not going to yell, I'm just going to sit here and make you feel like your wasting your time, because you're NOT going to make me insane, nope."

Aero sat back against the wall with his arms crossed and eyebrows raised staring at Rex.

"What do you have to say about that hmm?"

"Woof," Rex replied.
