The continent of Cyhalloi
User Image

Description:
The continent is in snow year around, no matter where you are. Up further north the snow can get as deep as 5 feet and down south as deep as 1 foot. Its about 500 miles from east to west and 400 miles north to south. The Ulvur hold most of the area and permit some areas for species to live but are otherwise territorial. The natural Fauna is sheep, goats, bears, cougars, wolves, wildcats, antelope, caribou, and foxes. Only a few kinds of plants live here from pines and trees use to winter to small berries and some fruit that grows in the south. Up north only berries can be found. Most of the continent is composed of Tundra in the south and up north it becomes progressively more mountainous with a few tundras in between mountain ranges. The temperature ranges from -80 at night in the winter to -20 in the day. During summer it is -10 at night and around 10 in the day. Rarely is it hot enough for rain. The continent of Cyhalloi is known as the tip of the world because its the furthest north, literally half the continent is on the top of the world. It is only reachable by water or air in the soutern regions where the weather isnt too harsh. Blizzards and white-outs are commom up north but peticulary worse down south thanks to the mountain ranges carrying snow down from the mountains and pushing weather fronts down south. Because of the temperature, very heavy furs are worn by the elves and humans, who both know that after -60 or less and during night it is too dangerous to go out for even the fur begins to freeze at that point. The reason why humans push so hard into the continent is for its vast amount of resources. Ranging from simple things such as sheep sinew for string and wool for clothing to gold resources and rare minerals deep in ice caverns. A diamond mine was recently found. No doubt the Ulvur, who live on the continent as well, will move to stop the mining before it starts. Trolls and small orc camps live up north and to the west, which rarely attack humans thanks to the several hundreds of miles of Ulvur terrirtory they must pass through. Mostly orcs ever attack, thanks to sea boats and warships. The continent itself is fairly quite with a total population of humans, Ulvur, and Elves coming up short to 300,000, which is very little compared to the size of the continent. The nearby islands were named by dwarves and elves who discovered them, and remain mostly barren, neither with a centralized population large enough for even a village. 2 Dwarven settlements, however, are apparent on one of the eastern islands named Aurora by the elves. The dwarves eventually took over and claimed the island for themselves for its gold deposits, safe from the non-sea-faring Ulvur race.
