Snow had came to the usually warm mountain range known as Montigo. Since the snow was unusual the animals were confused but they didn’t think of it as a threat. “Momma how come the snow came here?” The mother fox looked at one of her kits. One of them had already grasp the basics of human language. “I am not sure Miako, but I am sure we are supposed to come here.” The young adventurous kit hopped ahead on some rocks, she laid down on one, yawing. “Mom I’m tired can we take a break.” The mother growled snapping her fangs. “No! Stopping without a den would be completely idiotic. It would leave us open to the predators of this land!” Miako jumped down running to catch up with her parents and siblings. “Lenia be easy on her, the children don’t understand and threats of this new world.” Nightfall soon came and the kits grew tired, Lenia found a temporary cave for bed. “Micha pick up the runt and bring her up, the others are big enough to climb.” Micha picked up Miako and brought her up into the cave. The other five kits climbed up. Lenia and Micha were sleeping next to one another. Miako had hid behind a rock sleeping. “Rest…”Micha growled at the kits. Hours later Lenia returned to the cave, walking over to where Miako had hid. She nuzzled her only remaining kid. “Wake up Miako, we need to go.” She woke up stretching as the yawned. She noticed there was snow around her. “Momma, Daddy where are the others?” They looked at each other then back at Miako. “They were killed by big cats while we slept. Your mother and I escaped then came back and found you.” Miako nuzzled next to her fathers leg, he snuggled close to her, “Lets just keep going, maybe not all the crea-.” A roar sent them running, maiko couldn’t keep up with her parents. She tripped over her own feet trying to speed up. “Momma! Papa!” She rolled a bit before falling off the edge of the cliff, she bounced off bunches of leaves until she landed in the middle of a river. “Somebody help!” A black panther looked up running out on a tree branch. He carefully grabbed Miako, caring her onto solid ground. “I guess you weren’t having the best of luck today.” He sat her down on the ground, Miako looked up. Staring up at the giant cat before her, she began to back away. He chuckled softly. “Little fox I am not going to harm you. Now…Do you have a name?” She nodded softly. The panther lowered his head so he was eye level with the fox. “I’m Vance. I’m a ‘lone’ panther you could say.” She sniffed his fur for the scent of her siblings, satisfied she sat down. “Miako, my mom and dad brought me here and my dead siblings when the snow melted. Now I’m all alone.” Vance nuzzled his head against Miako’s. “You are welcome to travel with me until you find your parents.” She nodded at him. “Do you know who ate my brothers and sisters?” He shook his head beginning to walk away. Miako had to run to keep up. She tripped again rolling into the hind leg of her new friend. He looked down. “Get on my back, it’ll be quicker.” Miako waited from him to kneel down so she could get on his back. “Vance…” He stopped looking back at her. “Hmm?” She shook her head. “It’s nothing.” He sighed. “If you don’t tell me things how can I make your stay easier?” “It is nothing important.” He growled alittle, getting aggravated. “Miako please don’t keep secrets from me.” She nuzzled her head next to his ear. “Please don’t be angry with me.”
“Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve been around other creatures.” Miako slid from his back and ran off. Vance took off in a run after her. “Miako wait!” He had a hard time keeping up with her because of vines and heavy brush in the direction she had ran, She walked back to him helping him pass through. “Sorry Vance, I forgot you were a big kitty. This branch of the river hasn’t been claimed.” He walked over glancing around. He heard a splash quicky turning his head seeing the tiny fox trying to fish. “You’ll be washed away if you aren’t careful.” Miako lifted her head a salmon clinched in her mouth. She walked over to the panther and dropped it. Vance slid it back to the fox. “I can get my own food, you eat that.” She nodded engulfing the fish in only a few bites. Vance stood over the river tying to finda fish big enough to satisfy his hunger. “You may have to get more than one.” Vance looked back realizing she was right. “I forgot about that. Thanks Mia.” She growled at him. “That’s NOT my name!” He kicked up a few fish. “That’s my nickname for you.” Miako’s anger slowly deteroriated realizing he hadn’t confused her with another. “Hey Vance, why are you a lone panther?” He bit into the fish pulling the meat away from the skeletion. “I’d rather not discuss this.” She nodded yawning. “You can rest, I’ll wake you if we have to leave.” Miako walked over and crawled beneath Vance. Making him a very confused panther. “This isn’t gonna be an every night thingy understood?” She nodded. “Just tonight, please.” He nodded returning to eating. Vance didn’t sleepd much that night, he didn’t want to expose the vulnerable kit. “Mia wake up, we have to leave.” Vance whispered quietly nudging her Miako rolled over landing on her paws. She hopped every few steps so she could keep up with her companion. “Thank you for saving me.” Vance chuckled. Miako jumped on his back sinking her claws into his back for a second. “Hey I’m being completely honest. I owe you my very existence.” Vance began to run, it surprised Miako making her yelp. She lifted her ears to hear. “Just try not to fall, the big cats that attacked your family are coming to finish the job.” Miako tried to hold on but he was running to fast for her to hold on, she rolled off his back landing softly in the snow. “Vance help me!” He turned running back grabbing her by the name of her neck. “Go up there!” She yelped as she was snatched up. He quickly jumbed up the boulders walking up the cliff. He sat Miako down. “Your idea you lead.” She nodded and began to walk ahead of him. Miako stopped hearing something. “My parents are back there. They are dead now. I guess…” “You can stay, only if…” Miako nodded, she lifted her head gazing towards the sky. “Vance…” He watched her curiously. “Yeah?” “Are we friends?” He nodded nuzzling her head. “Friends, partners, comrades.” She licked his muzzle before she turned and began to look for a suitable path. Vance stood clueless. “Come on Vance I found a path!” He blinked walking towards the chipper fox. “But it leads from the woods…” Miako sat on a rock. “Vance, life is meant to be an adventure, as long as we’re together we can do anything.” He sighed moving his front paw over her ears. “Alright, you win.” Miako chucked and began to descend from the rocky cliff. “Careful the rocks are loose…” Vance growled slipping as he stepped down. “Mia go ahead, I don’t want to land on you if I fall.” She nodded jumping from platform to platform until she reached the bottom. “Alright Vance, I am clear.” Vance began to slowly make his way down the cliff. “Vance I think you should hurry.” He growled loudly. “Don’t rush me! I’m bigger thus heavier than you. My slightest movement could sent the rocks tumbling.”
“I know Vance but I hear something.” He growled lowly, quickly jumping down. Miako jumped back as the bolders rolled down. “I’m over here Vance!” He walked through the dust nuzzling close to the scared fox. “It’s alright. Did you get hit?” She shook her head. “But one came very close.”
“We need to head on, it’s nearly mid-day we only have a few hours left.” She nodded jumping onto his back, Vance growled at her but it had no affect. “You can rest your paws but keep your ears alert.” Miako relaxed on the back of the pahter, tho she kept her ears alert scanning the area. “Don’t fall asleep you little brat.” She smacked him ontop of his head with her paw. “Not fair! My poor paws are throbbing…”
“Hush Mia, get off.” She slid off his back landing in a slow flowing river. Miako lowered her head to take a drink. “I smell fire.” Vance glanced over at her before lifting his head to try and find the scent. “I don’t smell anything. What do you hear?” Miako’s ears twisted and turned before picking up any noise. She briefly lifted her head from the water. “Hard to say.”
“Mia…how old are you?” She took a few laps of water before glancing at him. “Twelve months, but I’m a runt so I look younger than I am. I probably wont get any bigger than I am now.” Vance senced he had struck a nerve, he began to drink in the water. An uneasy silence fell over the two. Miako lifted her head looking at Vance. “Vance, tell me about you…” He sat down on the bank. Miako walked after him staring up. “I ran away from a carnival when I was old enough.” She sighed wishing he would have told her more. He started walking, Miako walked quickly after him. “Vance…lets take the rougher pass…”
“Since I’m too weak to protect you, I’ll do everything I can to keep the humans away.” Vance mumbled something under his breath as he stepped onto the rough path. After a long period of time hearing nothing from Miako he got concerned. “Mia, are you still with me?” He turned around scanning the ground. He could hear struggling. “Mia!” She popped out of some vines hitting the ground hard. Vance chuckled thankful the girl hadn’t been lost. “Come here Mia, I’ll pull the vines off.” Miako limped over she was unable to speak because thorned vines were wrapped around her muzzle. “Tilt your head up.” Vance grasped the vine in his fangs and he carefully unwrapped it from her. “Thanks, I hit a nerve earlier so I didn’t want to c-“
“Mia I don’t care how bad of a mood I’m in, if you need alittle help call me.” She nodded rubbing the cuts on her muzzle. “I know it hurts but you shouldn’t do that.” Vance picked up the fox by the nape of her neck. He began to walk towards the exit of the path. “Can we call it a day Vance? I am tired and you’re cranky.” He sat her down laying next to her. “Lay down, we sleep together until we find a home.” Miako laid down resting her head on his back. “Good night Vance.” “Night Mia…” Miako was the first to fall asleep, Vance chuckled resting his head on her tail.
Vance nudged the fox trying to wake her up. “Mia we need to keep going.” She yawned falling back asleep. Vance growled frustrated. “Mia I hear the Carn-.” She got up immediately licking the side of his muzzle, she somehow put her front legs and paws around the panthers throat. “Vance let’s go. I’ll be as helpful as any snow fox can be in this situation.” He sighed pushing her down with his paw. “Thank you, Mia.” She licked his nose. “Lets go.”
“Mia take in the sounds, the clacking machines. That’s the carnival.” Miako took her place on the panthers back and ears alert taking in the sounds. “It’s okay to be scared Vance.” He growled snarling at the comment. She chuckled gently pawing at his ear. “Calm down Vance. I’m here.” Even though he knew the puny fox wouldn’t have been able to defend him but her words calmed him. “I might not be able to protect you if they get us cornered.”
“If they do, I’ll tear a** out of here and go ask the big cats for help, and I’ll come back and get you out of there.” Vance looked at her, the honesty in her eyes told the truth, that she would do absolutely anything to keep him safe. “Hurry Vance, the sound is getting closer.” He stepped in a trap, before the cage closed he flung the fox. “Go! Now!” Miako ran into the thick underbrush watching the cage. She turned her head as a shot ran out. “Vance…I’ll come for you.” She ran back towards the woods. She climbed the cliff running into the cats domain. “Someone Help. They took Vance!” One of the cats swiped it’s claws across her knocking her into the ground. “What does it matter to you?!” Miako stood up blood running from the scratches. “Vance is my friend, he’s all I got. I need help to save him!”
“Why does an outcast feline mean so much to you?!” The snow fox looked at the army of monstrous cats standing before her. “I love him.” Laughter spread across the cats. “How can a fox love a panther?” Miako turned away beginning to walk away. She looked back. “I’ll save him myself then.” Maiko quickly raced towards the grinding sound. She crawled around secretly, finding herself in an alley made of cages. “V-Vance are y-y-you here?” She heard a sadistic laughter coming from one of the cages. “If your friend was captured you should just give up. No creature has eva escaped from ‘ere.” Miako climbed on the side of the cages. “Vance where are you?!”
“Kid he’s probably in the show. Hide somewhere so you don’t get caught.” She lowered her head in defeat crawling under a cage. “Vance I’ll find you. I swear it.” Hours passed before the carnival finally closed. Miako got up and walked quickly around. “Mia, run. Get away from here.” Miako walked to the cage. “Vance I wont leave you here.” She climbed on a crate that was sitting next to the door and began to fiddle with the handle. “I am going to get you out of here.” As he laid down he noticed drided blood on her fur. “You went back. Why?” Miako fell onto the latch pushing it down to open the door. “Come on, the carnies will be alerted to your missing. Come with me.” Vance smiled as wide as any panther could. He walked out quickly following the tricky fox. They were soon miles away from the carnies, as far as their paws could carry them. “You never answered my question.” She chuckled softly glancing back at him. “If it isn’t apparent now I asure you it will be.” Vance was alittle confused but he didn’t question her anymore. Vance nudged her side looking at the cuts. “You are lucky to be alive Mia.” She scratched at the cuts. “They itch damnit.” He chuckled knowing she was lying. He gently pawed at the wounds. She yelped jumping back. “Mia don’t lie to me. I am glad you came for me.” He nuzzled his head against hers. Vance licked the wound clean of the dried blood. “We lost a day of traveling cause of this.”
“So, I think it’s more important that we are back together…I mean that you are safe.” Miako laid down wrapping her tail around her. Vance laid down beside her. “Sleep well little one.” Vance cared for the young fox while she slept.
Miako woke at sunrise, she looked at Vance smiling at his peaceful sleeping face. She walked to the river quietly drinking. “Poor Vance, I hope he’ll be okay.” She grabbed the fish in her jaws and walked back to where Vance lay. “Where you go?” She began to eat the fish. “To get food, I was hungry.” He stretched looking at her. “So it really was true, I was hoping it was a dream.” Miako licked the blood from her paws. “Unfortunately it wasn’t a dream, but I got you out.”
“You also got hurt.” She lifted her head. “You would’ve done the same for me.” Vance nodded to the side, he knocked a creature from the tree and began to eat it. Miako couldn’t look away. “Are you staring at me for any particular reason?” She turned quickly acting if she was trying to grab an animal. “Damn!” Vance shook his head chuckling. “Are you feeling alright?” She nodded running her paw along the ground. “I just don’t understand how my understanding of the sophistication of the humans language.” Vance stared at Miako his mouth falling. “Foxes are very sly and smart creatures. I’d think you would have some, even though you were never taught.” Miako nodded licking the back of her pay so she could attempt to clean her ears. “I suppose so. Vance do you ever think we could be more than creatures. My mother and fathers understandment of the mortals language were nothing compared to ours.” Vance shrugged. The frustrated fox clawed at the ground. “Calm down Mia. I wasn’t disagreeing with you.” She growled laying down angry. She soon bored at being angry began to draw in the sand. Vance walked over looking over her. “What do we have here?” She looked back at him. “They are amulets of some sort. They have a power to do something.” He gently move his paw over her ear, knowing she was frustrated. “Mia lets go. Keeping your mind off the jewels will be best.” Miako got up, Vance picked her up slinging her on his back. She laid on his head. “Vance…why do you keep me around?” He sighed. “Vance cares about you, he always wants you around.” Miako licked his ears. “I care about you too.” Vincent smirked satisfied with her response. He began to climb up a cliff. Miako slipped off him landing on a rock. “The amulets turn creatures like you and me into humans right?” Vance whispered. Miako shrugged climbing above him. “Do they? I don’t know and that is what frustrates me.”
The unlikely duo traveled for months, Miako would steal books so Vance could read them. They ended up in Brooksdale. Miako had fallen in a fast moving river and washed away. “Excuse me, Mr. Horse.” The horse ignored the panther, he growled lowly. “Please, I lost my only friend. And I need to find her.” The horse stomped his hoof. “Why does a fox mean anything to you? You’re a cat she’s a mutt.” Vance growled. “Mia isn’t a mutt! And I think I’m in love with her.” The horse neighed loudly. “Follow the river!” The angry panther took off down the river. He panted trying to run more than he strength would allow him. He collapsed weak on the ground, the darkness came over him.
Downriver the water had pushed the unconscious fox on the she shore. The village next to the bank was of the old world. A little girl not older than ten walked to the bank. “Papa, look. She’s so small.” A man with pale blond hair walked over. “Abigale go prepare a bed for the creature.” The little girl ran into the tent. Her rather lowered himself down and pulled the fox from the water. He carried her into this home laying her on the wool. “Emmanuel move. Let Me care of her.” He got up and walked from the tent, the woman got on her knees. “Little fox you’re traveled very far. My name is Ileane. Ileane began to bandage the foxes waist moving to her paws. “You have fallin’ in love with a panther.” Miako weakly opened her eyes. “Vance…his name is Vance.” Ilean chucked cleaning the foxes fur. “What’s your name?”
“Miako…please find Vance. He’s is probably pushing himself so hard to find me.” Ileane put a dampened cloth on her forehead. “Rest once you recover we will go after him.” The fox once more fell unconscious.
Vance woke up still by the edge of the river, he began walking. He wasn’t sure where he was going or what awaited him but in his heart he was sure he was going the right way.
Miako recovered quickly from her wounds, as she healed she began to spend all day searching for something. Ileane kept a curious eye on her. “What are you searching for?” Miako reached her paws in the sands beneath her. She was so close to it. A golden brown light surrounded the fox. Ileane looked away the bright light hurting her eyes. When the light dimmed where the fox once was a girl was kneeling down. “I was looking for this amulet.” She stood up. Ileane wrapped her jacked around the naked girl, even though she didn’t seem to care it seemed as her mind was elsewhere. “Come with me, I have to buy you some clothes,” Miako nodded quietly following her. Ileane walked into a clothes sop dragging the girl behind her. “Miako put this on.” She walked behind the curtain and slipped on the outfit. A white skirt hung from her hips, a loose fitting tube top covered her breasts, and reached down to above her belly button. “Ileane we have to search for Vance.” Ileane brushed the girls nearly white hair behind her ears. “I promised we would and we will.”
“Either you help me, or I’ll go find Vance on my own.” She leaned against the wall. “Tell me something. Before you were mearly a child. Now you look like you’re a sixteen year old.” Miako ran her fingers together. “I don’t know how it works, all I know is Vance is out there somewhere trying to find me.” The woman sighed. “Go, he has probably found the other amulet like the one you have. But bring him here. I want to see who you are so in love with.” Miako nodded quickly walking from the store, she was making her way up-river when the amulet began to glow and levitate up. “Vance!” She shouted. ~..~ Vance looked up hearing someone or something calling his name. When he looked back to the ground and began to disregard it as wind. The amulet he had found several weeks earlier, the amulet which had turned him into a human began to glow and levitate. “It couldn’t be…Mia….” He pushed himself off the ground scanning the area. His horse neighed, which caught his attention causing him to look over. “Do you know where Mia is?” The horse nodded his head. “You never quit talking about her. If not for that I wouldn’t be helping you.” Vance’s eyes narrowed as rage boiled his blood. “Have you known this entire time where she was?”
“Of course not, but when you became human you should’ve felt her.” He picked up the daggers from the ground and walked over to the horse. “Are you going to help me or not?” The horse nodded allowing Vance to get on his back. “She’s out there trying to find you.” Vance sighed glancing around as the horse galloped. As they rode along a sandstorm whipped up. “Mia! Where are you?!”
“Vance! I can’t see you! Where are you!” His heart raced hearing her voice, but he was scared he wouldn’t’ find her before the storm got worse. He seen an orange glow through the sand. “Vance!” He jumped off the horse running in the cave, pulling Miako up into his arms. “I was so scared when you were washed away…I’m so glad you’re alright.” She wrapped her arms around his neck, so happy she had started to cry. “Vance…I.” He kept her held in his arms, softly pressing a kiss onto her forehead. “Mia are you alright? You are so beautiful.” She blushed nodding softly. “I am alright Vance. You are…for a lack of another word. Drop dead gorgeous….well that’s three words but who’s gun-.” Vance pressed his lips into hers. Miako’s face turned red as she closed her eyes. Vance parted their lips pressing his forehead against hers. “I love you Mia.” She smiled softly. “I love you too Vance.” He put her down shielding her from the incoming sand. The sand was still coming in and very quickly, he pulled Miako back with him into the most further back part of the cave. Miako clung to Vance afraid of letting him go. “Mia it’s okay, I wont let anything hurt you. At least we know what the amulets do now.” Miako smirked nodding softly. “Even if we wouldn’t have found them, I would have came for you. We would have found each other still alive and kickin’. Even without them I love you. I have always loved you. Even when I was afraid to say it, because I didn’t think you liked me that way. Please understand …” Vance kissed her to silence her. “Truth is I always love you, from the moment I seen you before you drowned to the minute I placed you on the shore, I cared. I just didn’t understand it.” Miako pressed a soft kiss into his lower lip. “Lets not waste our time ont the past, Our time is now.” Vance sat down pulling Miako down into his lap. “What are we going to do now?” Miako smiled holding his hands in hers. “Don’t worry I have friends down river.” He yawned pressing his head back against the wall, she gently stroked her fingers along the lining of his neck. “You can sleep if you’d like.” He nodded allowing his hands to fall onto her hips. Soon he had fallen asleep, snoring softly. Miako chuckled holding his hands. “You are so cute.” She whispered. By the next morning the storm had died down. “Vance wake up.” Miako sleeply shook Vance, he groaned wiping out his eyes. “Did you sleep at all?” Miako shook her head wiping out her own eyes. “I waited for the storm to pass.” Vance stood up walking to the front of the cave. Miako walked behind him, just about to fall asleep on her feet. “Vance, I am…to tired to walk.” A horse walked up. “It is alright, you may get on my back. But only because little fox is tired.” Vance helped Miako on the back of the horse, then he got on behind her, holding the reins of the horse in one hand and his other arm around Miako’s waist. “Hold on tight.” The horse tried to gallop but Vance slammed the back of his boot into his leg. “No she’s resting.” Vance watched Miako sleep, her chest rising and falling slowly as she dreamed in his arms. “the end of the river is still another day’s journey away.” He nodded glancing at the horse. “Can you walk her?”
“I can walk the both of you.” Almost two days pass when they reached the village. Vance was exhausted. “Alright where is this friend of yours Mia?” She slid from the horse holding her hand out for Vance. He nearly fell off the horse. Miako kept him from crashing onto the ground. “Vance you’re to heavy for me to carry.” Miako pulled at his ear. He glared at her. “You’re are heavy…come…” She led him to the porch of a shop. “You can rest here.” Vance grabbed her wrist, Miako looked back at him chuckling. “I have to find Ileane.” He pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her. “Not without me.” She sighed knowing his mind was set, she sat quietly watching him sleep. “Hey Miako is that the nice boy who caught you attenti-.” Miako brought her finger to her lips nodding softly. “Yes this is Vance.” She whispered. Ileane walked up seeing Vance’s hands on Miako’s hips. “He is afraid of losing you again..?” She nodded softly shaking him. “Vance my love, Ileane is here.” He coughed waking up from the twenty minute nap, he looked past Miako seeing a dark haired woman. “So you’re woman who saved my lovely foxes life.” Miako’s cheeks turned crimson, she got up from Vance’s lap, pulling at his hand. “Ileane is there a place we can stay?” Ileane shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know if I can help you, you aren’t marr-.” Vance stood wrapping his arms around Miako. “I will not leave her again.” Miako softly rubbed his exposed arm. “Love calm yourself, it isn’t Ileanes fault.” He squeezed Miako against him. “But Mia I don’t wan-.” She got on her toes and gently kissed his lips. “Vance stop. I love you and a night apart wont kill us.” Ileane cleared her throat. “Miako, Vance I wouldn’t’ tolerate you two ever being separated.” Miako wiped the tears from her eyes, Vance kept the tight hold around her. She nuzzled her head against his chest. “Please Ileane, Vance is exhausted, and I’m hungry.” Ileane sighed signaling for Vance and Miako to follow her. “If anyone asks you two are soon to be wed.” Vance nodded glancing down at his love, her cheeks were bright red, she caught him looking which made her blush more. “Yeah…umm…” He chuckled, squeezing her hand slightly. Ileane slowly pulled the door open allowing Vance and Miako to walk in. “Is it possible to…” Ileane was unsure what he meant. “What?” Miako took a deep breath trying not to overwhelm herself. “A wedding…for us.” Ileane smiled nodding softly. “Meet with me in the morning.” They nodded smiling quietly at one another. Ileane walked out closing the door behind her. Vance laid back pulling Miako ontop of him. “All this is happening so fast Mia.”
“Well if you aren’t ready I’ll tell her…”Miako whispered sadly. Vance put his head on her back, playing with her hair. “I want it. Mia. I want to spend every moment of the rest of my life with you.” Miako smiled rolling off his chest, landing beside him. “Rest now, we can talk more once you’re well rested.” He wrapped his arms around Miako falling asleep. She chuckled lowly closing her own eyes so she could sleep. Vance woke up first, he smiled seeing Miako still resting in his arms. “This is a first. Mia is usually up before me.” He stroked the hair out of her eyes. “Mia it’s morning.” She weakly opening her eyes glaring at the man who woke her. “What?” He chuckled sitting up. “What do you want to eat?”
“A steak would do nicely.” Vanced chuckled. “Something I can fix.” She buried her head in the blankets. Vanced pulled the blankets down. “Mia,I am the one who stayed awake for nearly two days.” She sat up brushing her hair back with her fingers. He chuckled rubbing her back. “I know you want to sleep but have a lot to do.” Miako walked to the bathroom closing the door behind her. Vance chuckled waiting for her to come back out. “Vance go brush your teeth. It is simple see.” She was brushing her teeth. Vance chuckled walking to the bathroom. “It’s really nice here, why do the humans have such stinky breaths in the mornin’?” Miako chuckled lowly smiling soflty. “Every creature has morning breath dear.” Vance walked back and pulled Miako up against him, she smiled pressing her lips against his. “Good Morning, oh by the way you snore and it’s sooooooo cute!” He blushed alittle pushing Maiko down. “What do you want to eat?” She shrugged. “Whatever you want to cook?” He chuckled rubbing Miako’s back. “How about we go talk to Ileane let her hook us up with some food.” Ileane knocked on the door to Vance’s and Miako’s house. “Miako, Vance you two still in there?” Miako opened the door. “What is it Ileane?” She walked in the house sitting on their bed. Miako shut the door walking to her. “I talked to the ruler of our clan. He said no one unmarried could live together. So I told him I would come talk to you guys about getting married.” They looked at her they back at one another. “When?” Ileane took in several breaths. “Now,I know it’s soon but my hands are tied.” Miako looked at Vance waiting for his respnce, he nodded softly, “Alright, today…How are we to prepare?” A relieved sigh passed from both Ileane’s and Miako’s lips. “I will take Miako and get her ready, my husband will fix you up.” Ileane grabbed Miako’s hand and quickly ran from the house. Vance blinked sighing. A knock at the door called his attention. “I am Ileane’s husband, she told me I have two hours to make you…proper.” Vance opened the door. “What is wrong with the way I look?” He shook his head. “Our marriage laws are different, you for you look about ten years older than her and it…It is hard to explain. Now come on.” He walked out behind the man. “That girl was near dead when my daughter found her. One night Leany told me she tried to go find you and she collapsed thirty miles from here.” Vance smiled softly, “I didn’t think she cared that much!”
Ileane pulled back the strings of the corset making it far too tight for Miako to breath, she gasped for air. “To tight…can’t breathe…” Ileane quickly loosened the strings making it more comfortable for Miako. Miako was wearing the same dress that she had wore to her wedding. “How about now? Ya know you look better in my dress than I did.” Miako nodded softly taking in a few deep breaths. “I wonder if Vance is having this much fun.” The sarcastic tone from Miako made Ileane chuckle. She began to brush out her tangled hair. “Trust me dear, this will be worth all the trouble.” Vance knocked on the door. “Can I come in?” Ileane looked at Miako she nodded quietly. “Yeah he can come in.”
“Yeah Vance you can come in.” He opened the door smilling at Miako as she turned her head. “I’m just finishing up.” Ileane twisted Miako’s hair into a curl once she pulled the curler out her fell down boucing as they fell pass her shoulders. “Simply beautiful.” Miako blushed a bright red. “You don’t look half bad yourself Vance.” Ileane chuckled. “So you had to get a new suit, I didn’t think Emmanuels would fit you. Looks good on you.” Miako smiled as Ileane finished up, Vance took her hand in his hands pulling her up. “Come on.” Ileane brushed away his hand. “Go on my love, I’ll see you soon.” He nodded walking from the building. Ileane finished putting on Miako’s make up by brushing crimson lipstick paint on her lips. “Are you ready?” Miako nodded walking towards the door. She blushed seeing all the villages lined up for her and Vance. “Go on Miako.” She walked down the aisle, Vance turned towards Maiko as she got closer to him. He held his hand out to her. She placed her hand in his. “I love you Vance.” He smiled holding her hand as they turned towards the priest. “State your names for the records.” Miako smiled. “Miako Ginger Foxly.”
“Vance Leon Fang.” Their names were signed into a book, the book was placed on a tablet. The preist turned back to Vance and Miako. “Slice your palms then place them together…no wait…slice one anothers palms then put them together.” They took the ceremonial blades in opposite hands. They turned towards each other, in unison Vance and Miako sliced into the flesh of each others palms, each of them winced as the blade passed through the flesh. Slowly they placed their hands together, Vance wiped the tears from her eyes. “As the blood mixes let the bond between these two I now pronounce you husband and wife.” Vance and Miako smiled, he bent down a bit and pressed his lips against Miako’s. She wrapped her arms around his neck deepening the kiss. “Mia, I love you.” She smiled. “I love you too Vance.”
