^(-_The End of All Hiss Pain at Last_-)^

It was as if the night had some sort of spell over her, she seemed lifeless sitting against the base of a large oak tree. Her cloak was lying over her lap discarded, and her wings where limp upon the ground on either side of her. She seemed to be gazing at something in front of her very intensely, as if in some sort of trance. But if one were to examine her method of attention they would find only distance. Black and empty, staring off into space perhaps She leaned back taking in a deep breath of night air and twirled the rose that had moments before appeared in her hand. Black and rough, but her velvet skin seemed to repel the thorns. Twirling gracefully, almost magically between her delicate fingers, trickling blood to the ground. She let out a soft sigh and continued to stare, never

Gorocco walked through the trees, his long dark hair trailing behind him. His black foxtail swayed behind him and his silver eyes looked straight ahead of him. He had scars on his arms and chest and a large scar across his face from the top left of his face to the bottom right of his chin. His sword was drawn and had little to no energy left in it. Goroccos black fox ears twitched occasionally, the top of his right ear hung down from being damaged in a fight. He had just come back from an enormous battle on the other side of the mountains. His armies had won the fight and he had sworn to give up the life of an assassin forever. His energy was depleted and there was little strength left in his body. He wanted to find Thorn to tell her the news that he was done fighting and that he could be with her forever. His spirit had changed and his energy had become twisted with power and hate but underneath it all he was the same caring Gorocco as before.

Finally taking her eyes away from the black distance before her she looked over her shoulder, trying to see beyond the tree behind her. She appeared suddenly behind a different tree, just a few feet away from the first one. Her cloak was around her hiding her face beneath its silk green hood, and her fang’s were bared. She listened carefully, hearing footsteps some distance into the forest. She stood and waited, thinking it was merely a stray villager gathering wood for the day. She had just been thinking that she hadn’t fed in a while. How nice it would be, oh the flow of someone’s blood in my veins, instead of just my own. The thought brought a sort of psychotic pleasure to her, a giggle would protrude through her mouth, a crooked smile, echoing through the trees, and flowing through stragglers ears, making the hair on his neck stand straight, and an arousing strength claim his muscles. She covered her mouth, hoping not to have been heard and stepped deeper into the shadows.

Goroccos ears twitched and he looked around quickly. His silver eyes scanned frantically around, searching for the source of the laugh. He knew he would be no mach for who ever was out there. His strength continued to dwindle and he felt his best chance would be to run. Gorocco turned his attention back on the path and began running at break neck speed to try and get away. He cursed to himself quietly about his powers, occasionally looking behind him to see if he was being followed. His energy was still weary from the fight over the mountains and he knew that his strength wouldn't help him in a fight. Gorocco tried to stay focused and calm but found it was harder to do this time. His muscles clenched as he struggled to keep from dropping the enormous sword he had.

She appeared from tree to tree, following the sent. Her giggling continued now, filling her victim with a feeling of such pleasure it was beyond anything he had ever felt before. Making his weakness and aching muscles soften and dissolve, not completely, but to a bearable point now. She stopped following him now, a single black thorned rose appeared in the way of his path, stuck in the ground, marvelous and slightly glowing. A dark shinning crimson seeped from its bud, falling to the ground silently and gracefully. She stood and watched, waiting. Her fangs were bared, in a sweet smile, almost wicked but not deadly. And there it was again, that giggle. Flowing through his ears, making the droopy one stand straight this time, as if never harmed.

Gorocco turned around baring his fangs as best he could. He could feel his muscles relaxing and tried to fight the spell he was being put under. He fell to his hands and knees unable to stand anymore. His sword hit the ground with a small clatter and sending a tiny pulse of energy through the ground. "I...can't...hold on..." He collapsed on the ground unable to move. His ears fell limp and his silver eyes slowly closed. "Not... yet... need to find.... Th-…" He passed out unable to finish want he was saying. His whole body relaxed to the sound of her voice, excepting defeat.

She gasped unable to believe herself, what an awful being. She had always told him she hated being a vampire, her lust for blood and the enormous pleasure she got out of the hunt; she hated herself for it. She approached him slowly, cautiously, almost in disbelief that this tattered and worn out old man was her beloved Gorocco. She knelt beside him, taking in the sight before her. She observed him now, as she had the black distance deep within the forest. She put her hand upon the side of his face, a strange light came from her touch and his eyes opened She looked at him for a moment, her eyes green, like little emerald jewels; faintly glowing. She forced a smile, her fang’s peeking over her bottom lip slightly. “You know my dear, you shouldn’t run from your enemy. It excites them. Have I taught you nothing?” Her voice was quiet, almost a hiss, with a sweet British accent. Her smile faded slightly, her eyes verting from his eyes to the scars that covered his body. They seemed to layer him like clothing. She took her hood down, revealing her face, her skin was as pale as the dawn, and beautifully ageless. Her long black hair fell from the enclosure of her hood, draping itself like a curtain over her tiny shoulders. Her eyes verted back to his eyes now, smiling sweetly. “It’s good to see you, my love. It has been far too long.”

Gorocco tried to move but was unable to. Old memories filled his head at the sound of her voice. "Thorn..." He smiled softly and relaxed. He knew she wouldn’t hurt him, and had hoped she hadn't changed while he was gone. "...Im so glad I found you..." His eyes seemed to grow brighter as he turned his head to see her face. He slowly sat up as his strength slowly returned to his arms. "It is done Thorn... the fighting is over..." He sat up and leaned up against a tree, resting for a moment. "Hamoku is dead and his armies are destroyed... there will be no more fighting for me..." He looked to his arms and the sword lying on the ground. "...It has been ages since we first started fighting. I was still a child... now look at me. My body is destroyed and I am well past my mid-life as a demon... I don't know how much longer I can push myself." His eyes watered slightly but he quickly wiped the pain away.

She simply smiled at him not really know what to say, just taking in his energy, how she missed him so. “You look so tired my love… Are you sure your going to be alright?” She asked, sitting closer to him now. She seemed tamed now, almost obedient. Her eyes were slightly glazed over, not the same full of life green they once had been, but her smile hadn’t changed the same sweet smile remained upon her face, comforting him as it always had. “I longed for this day, but I fear it was for all the wrong reasons my dear. I am now just glad to see that you are alive, safe.” She seemed distant almost, as if she wasn’t talking to him, but to herself, the constant battle in her mind. She looked from one scar to the next, wincing almost, as if she could feel the pain he must have felt at the time. “Whom ever brought those scars upon you is only to lucky I was not a witness…” She added, looking to the ground now, twirling the black rose she had planted before him only moments before.

"It is fine my.….” He looked away, almost as if to stop the intimacy of the moment. “They will not bother me or you any longer. And yes, I am fine, just a little worn out from my traveling. It has been far too long since I last saw you..." Gorocco said, with a soft tone. "Is something wrong?" He asked, looking at her now. Observing her distance. She seemed so different, displaced almost. She was flinching, he noticed, as she looked at the scars. "They are old wounds... Just things that will not heal because of spells and
Enchantments, but I am just fine. It is tough to kill an old demon like myself..." His smile faded slightly realizing he was the last of his kind. The rest of the dark fox demons had died years before when the battles first began. He quickly shook off the feeling and looked back at Thorn with a sense of interest and wonder.

She looked at him, smiling an even calmer smile than before. She placed her hand upon the scar on his face, trickling her fingers down it like the legs of a spider. The scar faded, not completely, but enough to be unnoticed from a nice distance. "Nothing is too broken to be fixed my love.." She whispered, running her delicate fingers down the rest of his face. It was almost as if she were checking to make sure that he was really before her. Her eye's stopped glowing now, leaving them in the darkness. "Nothing is wrong dear. Simply tired is all.." The way she said that was almost as if she were lying to him. As if she were hiding her true feelings somewhere he could not find them. "Just tired.."

"Are you sure that is all?" A concerned expression crossed his face as he searched her eyes to try and find the Thorn he once knew. Subconsciously he knew that she was fooling him but he did not want to believe it. He was happy that he was with her again and that was that. Gorocco touched her soft skin with delicate care, so not to get her cheek dirty. He felt a calming sensation wash over him at the feel of her hands upon his skin. "I may be too broken though... I am old and scars cover me now. It has been a long and tiresome fight and I feel it is all for nothing... my species is dead and I can do nothing about it."

She looked at him a scolding expression taking on her face. "Gorocco I am appalled by you, insulting yourself in such a manner, I will not stand for it, do you hear me? I will not. Everything we do in life has a purpose, you know this. You might have won the war against these beings, but you lost the rest of your own kind. There is a lesson there, in that lesson holds your reason for fighting." She said, the smile taking her face again and her eyes took on that lively green she knew he had hopped to see. "I had got so used to hiding my true self I forgot it was you I was sitting before." She added with a soft hiss of a giggle, childish and sweet as the day they met. She really hadn't changed, as he had hoped, not really.

"I know I shouldn't talk like that but it is how I feel. I won but in return I was defeated... I am old now and my race is gone... I don't know what to do Thorn... after me there will not be another shadow fox to take my place... I am the end of the line. There will never be another one like me Thorn... I can’t help but feel like I lost everything... I hurt you and that kills me most of all." Goroccos voice lowered a bit as he spoke. He had a sorrowful expression on his face and he kept shaking his head after each sentence. "It is just hard to think that this all happened because of me... I thought I would make things better for my kind when instead I killed everyone."

The thought of his age crossed with the fact that she would remain immortal 'till the end of time, she quickly shook this away reminding herself that this was no time for her own worries, but his. She looked at him, her hand on his face again. She gently slid down the base of the tree, almost cuddling up to him but not quite. "This was not done because of you Gorocco, you simply helped the gods in something that needed to be done. They chose you. This needed to be done, why? Now that is completely beyond me, but I have a strong feeling there is a horribly good reason behind so much pain. The gods wouldn't create such a great mass of genocide such as this simply for their humor my love." She said, forcing a smile at him, her fang's were pearly white in the ray's of the moon, and her face was as stunning as ever, glowing in her pale complexion. "This is not your fault Gorocco."

"It is hard to believe that it was not my fault..." Gorocco said closing his eyes. The thought of impending doom for his species hung over him like a dark cloud. "I can feel myself slip a bit more every day now... at first I thought it was my powers getting stronger but now I know I was wrong. It is my spirit being pulled into the thing I use as my guardian. The shadows pull me in every time I sleep at night, showing me what I have done and what will come to be... I can't take it anymore... I try and speak with them and see what can be done, but nothing ever comes..." He looked at Thorn, and shook his head. "It would not matter if I got an answer now... I know what will happen... after me there will be nothing but faint memories of my species. Told in fairy tales, and talked about by crazy old humans. And in time even those will be forgotten and then there will be nothing... no history, no glory, just another lost species."

She stared at him in disbelief that this was indeed her beloved. "Gorocco... I wish I could ease you from your pain... But I cannot. I can only catch you now when you fall. There is nothing more than that that I can do, and it pains me so. But I want you to be aware, I would tear death from the underworld and make in non-existent if so. I will not lose you again without a fight this time." She said, looking off into the distance again, sad and angry at the fact that she had indeed lost him. He wasn't the same, he was gone. Off in his own little world of pain and hatred, unhappiness beyond anything she had ever felt or seen. It sickened her, knowing that all the magic in the world could not ease his pain. Leaving her to only sit and watch as the one she loved beyond all things in the world died off. Soon to become what the rest of his kind had. Taking everything she was down with him.

Gorocco saw her unhappiness and looked back on what he was saying. He saw her pain and hated himself for feeling sorry for himself. He saw himself, sitting there in a heap of sorrow and self-pity while she was by his side trying to bring him back. He remembered back to the beginning of the wars where he had never thought of things like this. He had never even trained his powers for war then. Just play around in their youth, and make her happy. He remembered back when Thorn was lost in a shadow and she had been there for him. Now he was a sorry old demon who only thought about himself. Gorocco’s insides curled and turned as he thought of this. How had he fallen so far as to not see her pain? "Thorn... I-... Im sorry. You’re right... This all happened for a reason and I just need to gut through it like I used to."

She gave him a stern look, almost disappointed in him. "Gorocco if you do not stop this.. This madness I swear I will go mad myself!" She said, raising her voice. Never before had she done this, it seemed strange to even her. She slapped him. "SNAP OUT OF IT! Stop feeling bad for yourself, and neither do I need your pity. You do not bring on my unhappiness, and I never want to hear the word sorry come from those lips of yours again. Understood? There is nothing wrong with you, you need to lighten up and enjoy what ever time you have left." She said, getting up from her seat next to him and sitting in front of him to get a better view of his face. “Where is the Gorocco I fell in love with so long ago? Where has the love of our youth gone too?”

Gorocco sat there for a moment looking at her. A small smile formed on his face and he nodded his head "You’re right... I can't sit here like this... I need to find the old me and I need to get back on my feet." He stood up and picked up his sword. "This isn't me... I was never supposed to sound like this. I am a survivor; I am the one who is there for people... I am Gorocco Jamokai, the shadow fox assassin. Not some sorry old fool worried about something simple. I need to find myself... I need to get back in touch with who I used to be and I need to stop worrying about fights or my powers as much." His face brightened up a bit and his eyes sparkled like they used to.

She leaned back against the tree now, a wide smile across her face spelling out accomplishment as if she had seen this coming. She always knew it seemed, what to say to get him going again. She discarded the cloak, folding it on her lap and stretching out her long emerald wings before laying them limp at her sides. "Indeed!" She would agree with him, as if he had brought this idea on all by himself. She couldn't take her eyes off of him though. She wanted to reach out for him, pull him closer, and hold on to him until the end of time. But she hid her desires deep within her soul, not letting her deepest of all desires show through. She simply sat there; patiently, smiling up at him, her fangs bared in that playful way. Innocent she seemed.

"Thank you, Thorn..." Gorocco sat down beside her and kissed her gently on the lips. "I don't know what I would have done without you." He wrapped his arms around her hugging her close. His energy was back and had returned to its formal self. He had the same spring in his voice like he did way back when they had first met each other. "Thorn... I love you... I love you so much, and I never want to leave your side." He said softly resting his head on her shoulders. "I want it to be like it was in the old days... back before all of this. That’s how I want life to be. I will forget about these scars and put my sword back with my father’s tomb where it belongs. I want to be with you Thorn..."

She seemed calm, as always never letting her excitement get the best of her. Her heart was pounding from the touch of his lips but she just sat there and smiled. She wanted to sit in that moment forever and let it repeat itself over and over again. She laughed inside at herself for this thought. She placed her hand on his cheek and let him lean on her. "I love you too Gorocco, more than you could ever imagine, I'm sure" She said looking out before her, the moon was fading as the sun was soon to rise, and birds had begun to chirp as the morning was getting ready to unfold. "The old days, oh how simply charming! How divine, I can hardly wait." She giggled, her tone fading to a much lighter, far happier one than before, she seemed more lively now, forgetting her worries completely.

Gorocco looked up as the sound of the birds reached his sensitive fox ears. "Come on... we need to get you somewhere for the day." He said with a worried tone in his voice. "I passed an old house on my way down here so we can rest there." Gorocco stood up and held out his hand to help her up. He had a look of concern for her on his face and he was hoping they could make it before the sun came up.

She sighed heavily looking up at him, then taking his hand. “I hate this. You know I’m quite fond of the idea of sunlight, what does it look like? I mean outside? Is it really as horrid as it feels? It gives me a headache…” She said, a puzzled look taking her face now as she pulled her cloak over her, hiding as much skin as possible. “And don’t be so concerned, I’ve handled much worse in the time we’ve none each other, have I not?” She said, as she fallowed him wherever it was that he was going. “Let’s see… The sunlight… Compared to a fox demon gone mad…. Yes, indeed I have handled much worse.” She added, a hint of laughter in her voice now. She seemed really defensive of this subject, the sunlight. “I hate being a vampire. How vile, how disgusting…” How pouty, she sounded like a child, going on and on like that. Actually quite comical.

Gorocco sighed. "I am sorry Thorn... I know how much you hate this and I am not insane. I just lost myself back there for a moment is all. But I am back to normal." He said walking through the forest until they came up to a little cabin at the foot of the mountains. The last scent here is four years old so I am sure no one lives here." He walked up to the front door and opened it for Thorn. "I know how much you have endured and I love you for that... you have no idea."

She waved her hand's and the window's would appear covered; green satin hangings. She looked around the room, not much but a table that seemed way passed its years. Dusty and one of the leg’s look like a dog had tried to chew through it. There was a fireplace, and a corner stacked with hay. She looked back at him, taking off the cloak and setting it upon the table. “I didn’t say that you were insane my love, and I fear you have the incident with what I’m referring to a tad bit mixed up.” She said smirking at him. “And I feel that you deserve as much credit as I, you have endured far greater troubles in the last few years than I have.” She added, sitting on a stack of hay and leaning back against the wall. Her wings would fall limp and hit the floor in a bored fashion, and the fireplace would suddenly burst lively into flame. She sighed and stared into the fire. “A life of darkness and pain. Oh but how beautiful, mystical vampires are!” She said in a most annoyed voice, ending her rant with a roll of her eyes and the crossing of her arm’s.

"Thorn... I will do everything I can to make this better for you. I will try and find a way to bring you back to normal.. I promise. I have a long time to figure it out my dearest Thorn and I plan on finding a way to help you." Gorocco said walking over to her and kissing her gently on the lips. "I am here to serve you and to help you as long as I can. I love you Thorn... And I will make it so that you can walk in the sunlight again..."

She took his kiss, but hated his concern. She was never one for pity. Even from the one she loved beyond all things living. She looked at him, a smirk across her face, wicked but sweet. “I love you too, oh my dear you have no idea. But you needn’t find a cure for this.. This disease. It comes of use at times. Without this, I fear my power’s, all my magick would die with it, and I could not imagine a life without that magick.. Without the black thorned rose? Why.. It’s almost suicide! I wouldn’t be Thorn anymore..” She would say, pulling him down next to her and cuddling up to him. “I’ve been a devil of the night for over three hundred years my love, to be without it would be just like setting me out in the sun.” She added, burying her head into his chest and closing her eye’s, taking all of him in at last. “Ah.. It’s been too long without your touch..”

"I know Thorn... I just want you to be happy with yourself." Gorocco said, gently stroking her hair. "I missed you so much... I missed your touch, the sound of your voice, your soothing words... It feels amazing to hold you in my arms again..." His black fox ears drooped a bit as he sat there with her by the fire.

She giggled at him, a sweet low hiss flowing threw his ears, making his hair stand on end. “You have no idea how much we agree on that subject my dear. No idea at all. I found myself missing you so much, I would debate on throwing myself out in the sunlight. I feared you would never come back to me. But at the same time I wanted you to fight, to finish what you had started, it meant so much to you.” She said, folding her wing’s behind her back tightly, almost unnoticeably, and sat herself on his lap curling up more into his chest. “I had forgotten how comfy you are hehe”
