Life...
My life through my eyes is not quite the truth to the world around me.
Day 6
I've been out of the hospital for a few days now, and I found out what really happened between Hatori and I. Quite frankly I was incredibly embarrassed when I found out.
My cousin explained to me what had happened the day after I was admitted.
She came into the room with her friend and fellow ranch hand Ilia, talking about some trip. She came over to my bedside and introduced me to the girl.
"This is Ilia, she’s a friend of mine and Link’s, he’s brining her home later today so she thought she’d tag along and see the sites one last time."
"Hello," I smiled back. "Nice to meet you."
"Link asked me to tell you to get well soon."
"Oh, thank you." I was slightly disappointed because I figured that if he wasn’t coming to see me personally he didn’t care enough.
"Something wrong?" my cousin asked, reading my expression.
"No, nothing," I lied. She took my lie a bit differently then I thought.
"Uh, Ilia, you can go out and shop for the things you need, I’ll meet you in front of the Milk Bar in an hour or so, okay?"
"Sure," Ilia agreed understanding a need for privacy. "Nice to meet you," she waved.
Once she had closed the door, my cousin turned to me. "What’s really wrong?" She asked astutely.
"What… happened, after I passed out yesterday." My cousin got a bit red in the face and gave a small giggle that was replaced by a serious glance to the side. "Don’t avoid answering," I warned.
"It was nothing too big, if your referring to the Hatori thing. I didn’t even think of it yesterday, but it’s probably why he’s been acting so funny." Of course, I couldn’t let my cousin say just that, I wanted details, and she gave them. "After you passed out on me, I ran out and got Hatori," my cousin explained. "Well, he decided that your condition needed proper care and you needed to be moved. Now, if you’ll remember, your outfit wasn’t much."
I pondered this a moment and remembered that I had been wearing my black robe with the red trim and not much else. I wasn’t expecting company, and was either planning on, or just had, taken a shower, I couldn’t remember. "Anyway, when Hatori went to pick you up, the strap of your robe kind of, unraveled."
I felt the heat rise up in my face almost instantly.
"He didn’t look," me cousin rushed to say, "I mean he saw you but he didn’t stare or anything, he’s a doctor after all…"
"So he’s embarrassed…"
"More so then you I think, I was kind of shocked that he was shocked, you guys were together so long that I thought…"
"No! Stop right there!" I threatened, feeling a little stronger now that that ordeal was straightened out. "Don’t even think about finishing that thought," I said sternly. Maybe I was to abrupt for a curl appeared on my cousins lips.
"I brought you some clothes," she said changing the subject. "You’re going to be released tomorrow morning." There was a moment of silence in which I dwelled on the thought of Hatori, I missed him so much that I could feel the tears in my eyes. "…unless you need anything else…" my cousin continued.
"No, nothing, thank you for thinking of me."
"No problem, that’s what family is for! Oh, and by the way, I was told to give all these to you," she hoisted a bag of cards onto my lap. "They’re from everyone. They thought I’d be better not to all come in to see you, didn’t want to tire you out after all," She laughed. I joined her.
"Thanks!"
"All right, rest up and I’ll see you tomorrow,"
"’kay, bye!"
When she left I fingered through the cards, get well wishes and notes from all my friends. At the bottom of he pile was a card, written in slightly messy but elaborate font, "I hope you stay well, I expect to see you at the stables again sometime. –Link"
Something about that note, about the idea that he took time to write it, even though it looked as though he had no clue what to write, touched me.
Well, the next day my cousin escorted me home and I’ve spent these past few days cleaning house. The weather has been chilly because of the wind so I haven’t gone out much, but tomorrow promises to be better. I hope it is, because I want to go to the stables and see Link.
