so... it's not my style, but in the very least i now understand why people regard Mr. Bungle's "California" album as sounding like a "demented Beach Boys record." i also have a better grasp on the "black metal is just beach boys daycore/vaporwave" meme now. i genuinely like the guitar twanginess and reverb.
granted my listening experience was also plagued by my cringe laptop refusing to connect to the internet and me getting Big Mad over it.

the track "Lonely Sea" could probably put me to sleep lmao
i'm usually a hater of instrumental tracks (which this album is rife with imo) but "Honky Tonk" felt country enough for me to enjoy it.
all in all... i mean... it's a distinctive sound? even though i WANT to make the assumption that surf rock is like pirate metal (being a topic-oriented genre)... that's clearly not the case because the sound is uniform lol.
