[Worn and torn but...]
Whee! Back from the Mission Trip I was on, oh yes, building houses is much fun. From morning to late afternoon as I remember. At least my balance improved quite a bit since I was on ladders most of the time. The time that I wasn't on the ladders I was avoiding power tools at any cost. Seeing how if I was near one I'd have to use one, which I don't trust myself doing. I am a klutz, and I didn't want to loose any limbs you see. On another note my roommates and I actually got along, much to my surprise. Seeing as how the youngest wanted to be a boss and I wasn't taking that. And the other two, one was too sarcastic for her own good and the other was quiet yet the oldest. A weird combination we all are. Not to mention our guardians were like our older brother and sister. Our older brother having been hit on by almost every girl not in our group was quite annoying.
Then our leader, yes there is a difference was six foot seven and had two inch tall bright red hair. He was a cute one no less, and very sweet. I can still see all the evil looks I got when he asked me to work with him. That was quite amusing to a point, until finally I nearly lost it when it wouldn't stop. As much as I wanted to say 'get over it' I didn't. Since when did I take my friend's sayings of 'get over it' or 'you will get over it'? Never. Those girls will remeber that for a while, then slowly forget what happened but not get over it.
On another note there was a bug also going around at the time, a six hour bug that none the less made you misrable. As every bug does, this one made your head feel like your brain was about to explode because it was hot from fever, and your stomach lurch amongst other things. Such as the chills and the hot one second and cold the next kind of thing, a common bug. It hit almost every single one of us while we were on the trip, and even though it is only six hours it brought on other complications. Such as a sinus infection for one of our friends in another room and a loss of appetite for me. Another got sick again so I suppose it wasn't such a healthy trip we went on. Considering that we went to sleep around one or twelve each night and woke up at seven. Then we went to work until three in the afternoon building houses, went back to the hotel, changed and headed back out again.
It was very easy to get heat stroke or get something else from the heat and lack of water and biting bugs. In fact one guy went to the hospital from a spider bite. Then a girl had to pull out a tick from her leg, both I luckly avoided. We got tan lines and horrible dry skin by the end of the day. During the night we barely could sleep because the soreness we had. There are some upsides though. Such as we helped others and had fun with our down time. We had play wars and marshmellow hangovers amongst sugar highs and late night giggle fits. Then again we didn't eat as healthy as we should have. Meaning we didn't eat much healthy things at all. I believe the healthiest I ate on that trip was soup.
We spent all of our money on shops and food and came back with good buys. Then found out that we weren't in such a good spot to be spending money in the first place considering we had no more money for food. Or at least I didn't. But still how could I turn down such a nice shop keeper who gave me something for free then a discount on the item I was purchasing? I couldn't. I am a sucker for nice people and lovely comments. Also I was buying for a good cause in the first place.
I don't regret anything about the trip and would do it all over again if I could. Only I would bring more money and better bug spray. ^^
[Never broken.]
