A brief darkness overcame me as I slowly came to, hearing sounds from a world of which I never knew. Sounds of buzzing...sounds of an unfamiliar gust of wind….Sounds of tranquility, if that makes any sense. I wished that when I opened my eyes, the darkness would be gone and I would be back home….but when I opened them, I was still in darkness... and I was not home. The town I had been in was only just beginning the day. I couldn’t have been out for so long since he transported me….but wait…. It was night time over here? As I collected my thoughts, I took a look around me. The darkness of a forest that never ended….rocks and small insects that illuminated the dense forest and vegetation with their soft, green, shimmering lights…. Some of them seemed to light a path for me to follow. So I pushed myself up off the soft, mossy forest ground littered with broken branches and twigs and followed the soft glowing lights. I followed them for what felt like ages until their shimmering lights brought me to an even brighter light. I had to shield my eyes to adjust before I could see what looked to be a floating…temple…? A rather large one too. It was supported by four large glowing blue rocks above a very shallow marsh or some lake covered in moss and vegetation…. But inside, I could feel a presence. I couldn’t tell if it was malicious or if it was good… but all I knew was that this place was calming…. It was the shed of light in an otherwise dark world—a world that sunlight never reached.

I tried to approach the temple so I could see who this presence was, but I was quickly pushed back by an unseen force. A stupid ******** force field kept me out and burned me! Of course this beautiful place had to be guarded… But as soon as I was done waving my burned hand about, a figure in white stepped out of the temple doors and looked down upon me with a cloaked face. “What is it that you seek in a place like this?” they asked, and in my language as well. I don’t know how they knew what language I spoke, but I decided not to question it at the moment. Their voice was silken…calming….lulling…and it made me feel sleepy. Taking a second, I answered, “I-I seek the hero of light… I was told she could be found-“

“She is not here.”

“A-Are you sure? ‘Cause this old man transported me here and everything--“
“I can leave you a message.”

“Please just let me in! It’s important! My people are DYING and we have NO ONE else to turn to! I BEG of you! PLEASE!”

After that, the figure stood and stared at me for a couple of seconds before stepping down those broad, marble stairs to meet me face to face. Their hood was much too big for me to see anywhere above their nose, so I couldn’t tell if this person was old or young. “Tell me, in detail, why I should let you see the Hero of Light.” They said. Their presence became almost unbearable. I was easily intimidated by this much shorter being. They must’ve been the presence I was feeling from inside. It was weaker before, but now it’s like it just amplified itself tenfold.
“Please, I beg of you, I just need to know where they are. My name is Tamara. I’m from a faraway planet named Solaris. My people and I have been pushed onto a neighboring planet close to complete obliteration and we will DIE if we don’t get any help. There is only about 30 of us left in the refugee camp and we’re amidst a war with a tyrant from our home planet and his army of thousands. Please… We’re desperate…” to show them that I was of no threat, I took my sword off my back and thrust it into the ground and got down on one knee with my head bowed to the figure. I spoke with my face parallel to the ground, “Any and all help locating the Hero of Light is appreciated. I come as a symbol of my people and do not wish to cause any harm… We just…. We just need help… Please…” I said, as a plea for help to this stranger.

I kept my eyes shut in fear they might attack me with their domineering presence, but all I felt was a gentle pressure of a hand on my left shoulder. As I looked up, I was met with a pair of red and blue heterochromatic eyes behind thick, black rimmed glasses and a pale face framed by pink, blossom colored hair. Her eyes were the windows to her soul—a soul that has seen the afterlife and death all in one—life and death—war and peace—love…and hate.

“Brave warrior from Solaris, fear not. I will not harm you. I will listen to your plea. Your aura is clear, but burdened. Please do not be afraid.” She then placed both her hands on my shoulders and lifted me as I stood with her. I towered over her by a good foot and a half or two! “S-So you’re…”

“Yes. My name is Kyon…. I am the Hero you seek. Come. We have much to discuss, do we not?” And in that instant, when she flashed me that heavenly smile, I just knew something was so special about her. Her whole presence made me feel less intimidated and more loved and cared for than I’ve ever felt before. It almost made me want to grab her and ask her to smile again for me, but that would be weird and I surely would get hit for that. With nervousness surrounding my stomach and heart, I followed the smaller figure into the temple after she lowered the barrier. The place was huge with its large, arching ceilings held up by pillars of floating rock and marble! I had to take a second to take in this sight. It had smaller rooms framed by little wooden doors and marble arches while the center—what looked to be the cathedral part—had wooden pews with red and gold lined carpets. At the very center of the front half was what looked to be a mini library with an altar littered with books upon books and papers. That part looked like a mess, but a pretty mess with the floating, glowing rocks.
