Gaining cXP with Games
Where I muse on gaming and how it affects my way of thinking in a wider, real world sense.
Building up skills - Stack Attack & Fishing
Usually I'm okay at doing things, as long as I go slowly. That counts for cleaning, cooking, coding, learning and yes, for games. Stack Attack is one game where you need to go carefully as well as quickly. After a while, I don't have the stamina of mind to maintain that pace. I think though, just like with muscle memory, you could increase your endurance for the clipping pace through practice.

However, I'd decided to give it up altogether. That hasn't worked out because I very much enjoy the game. The compromise here is that I will only play a certain amount of tournaments if I have earned the entry fee through posting, Booty Grab or otherwise. That way, it's a loss that already covered should I not win.

Today, the real lesson in Stack Attack is similar to the experience in the Durem Reclamation Facility. I told myself there was no way to fish in such a fast lake; then I caught 2 Racer Fish. For the cards, same thing: ended up with the highest score ever through care, keeping my eyes open for the best combinations and going as quickly as I dared. Missing 1 card is literally all it takes to derail the whole game.

Still not certain whether sometimes the cards just aren't stacked in favour of your winning, but I am now willing to play enough everyday - once or twice max - to see if the game is a blatant, skewed Gold Sink or not.

Lessons learned:
. Don't undermine the things you love doing / are attracted to doing
. Don't underestimate your ability
. Don't understate your skills - ever
. Don't underestimate the fact that practise makes you better over time.
