Once upon a time,
There was a God of sound and nobody could hear it. It tried to speak to others, but only it could hear it's own voice. It wondered day after day, Why?

The God decided to discover the reason behind this. It traveled to a village down in a mountain valley. It met humans, whom waved and greeted it kindly, but it could only offer a wave in return. It looked around the village and discovered that there was something called writing everywhere. It decided to learn writing. Then maybe it could ask for help.

It took many days and nights, but the God finally learned how to write. It got a pad of paper and pen and ink. It began to write. How can I learn to speak so that you may hear me? Humans thought this was weird. They motioned to their throats, trying to teach it to speak. You need air. The noise comes from the throat. is what they would say. It never worked.

Finally, the God came upon an old sage. The sage knew who the God was and answered the question thus. You must take your voice back. Suck in a deep wind and let it flow out.

The God took his advice. It sucked in a deep breath of air and felt the sensation of something returning to it. Then, it spoke. Did it work? The old sage smiled and nodded. Excited, the God jumped and ran back to the village to greet the people it had met. However, no one answered it. They tried to speak, but it could not hear them. All of the world was silent, except for the God of sound.

The God grew sad. He realized now, why. It had given everyone its voice. Only it had known what its voice sounded like. All along its voice was only in its head. It looked around at the sad humans who could no longer make sound.

The God drew out its deep breath, taking away its voice, and tossed it into the air. It scattered like sparks and each spark embraced a human or animal, the wind through the trees or the rush of a river. Everything came alive once again. Everyone rejoiced.

The God waved and said goodbye even though it couldn't be heard. It went back to its home. It was alone, yet it was not. It was sad, yet happy. Speaking to no one, yet speaking to everyone and everything. It fell asleep in thoughts of eternity, for it would never die just as sound will never disappear from the world.
