Chapter 1
The fog from the river misted up around his ankles as he stood there in the brush. the sound of the water lapping hungerly against the frozen edge the ice jagged and sharp like a monster that was awaiting with it's jaws open to swallow up the midnight moon reflected in the rushing current. He waited. His breath coming out in little cloudy wisps as he stood there, minutes passing into hours almost without him noticing. the only hint that time was passing at all was the ever changing rhythm of the river behind him. The snow had fallen the night before blanketing the world in a new dress of white. It had covered his tracks to his camp site and as he stood waiting in the misty hours after night fall he couldn't help but marvel at the purity of it all. How the world, even though thousands of years had passed him by in his age, could so drastically revert back to a blank minimalist state. People would eventually die from this world and the earth would be better for it, it wouldn't take long for those diseased and bloody towns to be swallowed up once again like his footprints in the newly fallen snow. The sound of a soft leather boot scuffing across the frozen tundra broke the spell momentarily and bought Seigeh back from his day dreaming. A tall man silhouetted against the blank background of the winter woods approached, his slender legs easily striding quickly towards the campsite.Immediately Seigeh smiled.
"Cold for you?" he asked shortly as the other man snorted and came to sit closer to the small heater that was set in the middle of the pop up tent set up. Warming his hands and rubbing them together he started to take off the layers of clothing he was wearing. Pausing when he reached his scarf the man frowned.
"Seigeh, how can you do that and say we're suppose to stay hidden? I am sure anyone in their right mind would think you were a loon."
gesturing towards Seigeh's nearly naked body the other contuned to disrobe, snow melting off his articles as he continued to unwind the scarf off his neck.Seigeh looked down at his bare feet and jeans. He was accustomed to the snow and cold and didn't feel the bite of the lower temperature through his callused pads. He was a shifter after all and the snow brought him comfort like it had in his homelands.
"I have to say TK, With all the layers your wearing someone probably thought you were the snowman people talk of."
TK scowled and finally removed his hat showing off his thin pointed ears.
"As if someone as beautiful as myself would be thunk such a beast." he said tiffed at the remark,"You on the other hand could be."
