THERE'S SOMETHING UP WITH ALICE
❧ Enter Alice. Perfect little girl. Maybe a bit on the wild side. You could say her imagination runs away sometimes, but as far as any one's concerned, she's a charming little angel. But things started going south around the time she hit eight or nine. Alice wasn't so sweet any more. Fickle and sickly, she'd shut herself in her room for days at a time. Then, emerge, bounding about happily as if recovering from some inexplicable illness. A day or two would go by, and Alice was the pretty picture of a perfect girl once more. Until one night, she'd disappear for a couple hours only to reappear, tattered and torn. Always, after these disappearances, Alice wasn't herself any longer. Back to a dismal, angry girl, her parents began to fret. After the fifth or sixth cycle of this strange rollercoaster, Alice's parents had her committed. At first, it was just supposed to be some pills. Something to even her out, maybe. An upper here, a downer there, and maybe we'd find the old Alice again somewhere. But the more they poked and prodded, the worse she got until finally, all the poor girl did was blabber silly stories of rabbits running late and cats who could grin.
❧ Now, Alice sits alone in a white room all day, humming a toon to herself... Sometimes, if you listen closely, you might catch a whisper of the "Jabberwocky." Alice sat in that asylum ten years before someone other than a doctor or nurse spoke to her. He was a new inmate. Rambunctious and short-tempered. He liked to spit out rhymes and had this weird obsession with riddles. They say some old ladies found him running about the streets, stark naked. No one knows his name or where he came from. But he knows Alice. Alice, Alice, oh how he could go on and on about Alice. Even before she met him, he was mumbling her name, scrawling it on the walls of his cell. He was scary. Gangly and a little mad. Really mad. Not Alice mad which wasn't mad at all, if you asked her. He was something to stay away from, wasn't he? Then why did she always want to be near him. Yes, yes, she wanted to ask him questions. She wanted to play his riddle game. And maybe share a cup of tea with him. That's what she wanted most of all. But it's not easy making friends in an asylum. They don't really like you spending too much time with one person. Afraid you're going to start thinking too much, Alice supposed. She had already noticed how all the other inmates did was drool on themselves and stare at the walls. Except him, who looked at her, always, and spouted tales of how she'd slayed a queen.
❧ Could he really be someone Alice knew? Or used to know? Curiosity at its limit, Alice finds herself searching for the lunatic any spare moment she has, and oddly, it almost seems that he's seeking her out as well. He wants to take her back "home," he says. Back to a strange backwards world were nothing is what is and everything is what it isn't. He says she used to visit him there, that she promised to stay with him and never came back. Could anything the strange man be telling the truth? Or are they both just a pair of friutloops in a nuthouse?
❧ my character - Alice - positive traits :: adventurous | cunning | curious | imaginative | ;; negative traits :: cross | impatient | restless | mischievous | wild :: Alice at first is a duller version of herself, tied down by the treatment she is receiving at the asylum but as she begins to become more attached to the man, her more confident side would emerge, leading her to be a more true to her actual nature
❧ your character - (could be someone such as the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, or any of the male characters in Wonderland) - positive traits :: witty | energetic | fun-loving | your trait | your trait ;; negative traits :: maniacal | impulsive | immature | your trait | your trait :: Which ever character you chose would have to be sincerely mad but believe that he is perfectly sane and is in the asylum to rescue Alice and take her back to Wonderland. Other than this, he's pretty much up to you. The traits I've given are open to adjustment, depending on your take of the character.
