Before you read this, know that i titled it this way to get your attention. Prepare to see my feelings as the truly are.
My family got the news about Troy Ratliff Friday. I found out as soon as I got home from school. Who is Troy? He was a good friend, a loving husband, a wondeful grandfather, a kind gentleman, and everything that men should be. Now he's dead, and there's nothing i can do. He invented the nets behind the football goal posts, he taught my good friend Nicole how to take care of flowers, and he taught others how to fish and hunt. He always had a green thumb. Whenever he would walk around the plants, they would raise their heads and smile. Now they cannot, for he has left them. He was a god fearing man. Now he has nothing left to fear. He was the best husband any woman could hope for. For 65 years, he never left his wife's side. Now he has left her side, and she cannot raise her head either. Is this spring? Is this happening? I didn't even want to get online until today. He was the person you would hear and say "Well, that's Troy for you". He was always so welcoming. His son Gary and my dad became best friends. Their daughters became best friends, Nicole and I. We will keep the legend of Troy alive through the unification of our generations. Now, if you could, please get a drink and make this toast...
To Troy Ratliff(or chief as some called him) , friend, relative, and everything else that we could never be. May they have fishing, hunting, and gardens with smiling flowers wherever you are. To the chief, to Troy.
