Maria flipped the salmon in the pan and it sizzled. She sprinkled some seasonings on it and took a big whiff. "Mmmm. He's gonna love it." She picked up the wooden spoon and stirred the rice in the pot. Tapping the excess water off the spoon she then set it down.

Maria set the table with two plates, napkins, forks, spoons, and glasses. "Candles?....No that's too much...for now." She did find some flowers growing on the grass ouside the apartment complex that she put in a glass with some water. "Perfect."

She went back to stir the rice and flip the salmon.
"Hey! I'm home!" Bryan called as he came in through the front door.
"In here!" she called from the kitchen. Maria had drained the rice and set a scoop on each plate. She was just placing each piece of salmon on the bed of rice when he walked in.
"Wow. You made all this? For us?"
"Yes I did. Take a seat."
He pulled out his chair and sat down while she grabbed two sodas out of the fridge. "Wow. This smells good!" he said.
"Thank you." Maria set her napkin on her lap. They each cut into their salmon and took a bite.
"MMM! Wow! You did a great job!"
"Aw! Thank you Bryan," she smiled. "So, how was work?"
"Eh...it was alright. Had some rednecks come in....thinking they know everything about computers when they didn't..."
Maria giggled and scooped some rice into her mouth.
"Then we had some old people whining that we were taking forever to fix their computer when we only had it for 3 hours and there were other customers in front of them."
"Oh my god. That's annoying." She took a sip of her drink.
"I know," he said, doing the same. They continued to chat about his work for roughly ten more minutes, then he changed the subject. "So, what did you do today?"
"Watched some cooking shows. Someone shoved a flyer under your door for some event at a dance club this weekend. Wanna go?"
Never been to a dance club before.... "Yeah sure."
"Great." She ate the last piece of salmon on her plate.
"So, anything inspire you on the cooking channel?"
You'll find out during dessert."
"Oh I will eh?"
"Yup." They finished their food and Maria cleared the table. Bryan patted his belly. "Ready for dessert?"
"Yeah why not."

Maria opened the pantry and pulled out the cake she baked earlier. "Surprise!" She smiled big.
"Wow! That looks amazing! Such detail!"
"Glad you like it." she set it on the counter and pulled out two more forks, plates, and a cake cutter. She cut them two pieces and gave one to Bryan.
He took no time digging in. "Oh my god! So good!"
"Yes! I'm so happy!"
