Maria took another sip of her drink. "Well I think today was a pretty good day. I got out of the hospital with a pretty clean bill of health, I get to stay in your lovely home rent free..." Bryan laughed at that. "We enjoyed afternoon naps." He laughed again then she continued talking. "Then we had a nice dinner together and now we're relaxing in the hot tub."
"I'm glad you're feeling better and that you're staying with me. So I agree. Today was a good day." They raised their glasses and sipped them some more.
"Mmmm. Yummy." She paused for a moment. "I want to thank you again Bryan for everything. You've done so much for me. I can't even being to imagine how I can repay you for all your generosity."
"All I want is for you to have fun on your trip," he replied, gently stroking her cheek with his free hand. She smiled and rubbed against his hand. Bryan's heart began to beat faster when she did that. He licked his lips and she did the same, and he noticed. She looked deep into his eyes and he did the same.

God she's so beautiful. And so fun and sweet. How'd I get to be this lucky? He gently made little circles with his fingers on the back of her neck. He looked down at her pink lips. They were slightly wet from the wine so they shimmered in the glow of the moonlight. Her eyes sparkled as well as she looked up at him.

He's so handsome and smart and kind. How'd I luck out? Then she suddenly looked down at his lips too. Bryan noticed. He cupped the back of her neck and pulled her closer, she moving willingly, both of them beginning to close their eyes and puckering their lips.
RING RING! RING RING! RING RING!
They stopped abruptly only an inch apart. RING RING! "Ugghhh... I better go get that..."
Maria let out a breath. "Yeah...." She sat back and he stood up. He set their glasses down before gettinng out of the hot tub to answer the phone in the kitchen. Maria rested against the tub with her hand on her heart. So close...

"....Yeah I'll be there.....Okay...Bye..." He hung up the phone. "This sucks...."
"Who was it?" she asked when he returned to the hot tub.
"It was work....they got a guy out sick tomorrow so they asked me to cover...I'm gonna go in for a bit just so I get some overtime."
"Okay."
"Is that alright?"
Maria laughed. "It's your life, your career. Do whatever you want."
He laughed also. "Well alright. You gonna be okay here alone for a while?"
"Yeah. Just leave me a TV remote and I'll be good," she smiled.
"Okay," he smiled back. There was an awkward pause as he almost reached out to pull her into a kiss again, but he played it off as swatting a bug away. They both blushed and smiled. "Well I uh better go to bed...Got work in the morning..."
"Yeah..." They got out of the tub and he wrapped a towel around her shoulders. She smiled at him with rosy cheeks.

They walked in the house after drying off outside. When they got into the hallway, their rooms nearly across the hall from one another, Bryan looked down at her. He wanted to kiss her badly, and she wanted to kiss him. However there was still a bit of awkward, teenage nervousness between them. Bryan kissed his finger and touched it to her nose. Maria instantly blushed and a big smile spread across her face. She liked it! he thought.
"Well goodnight," he said.
"Goodnight Bryan."
