Just like a crow chasing the butterfly...
The crow perched on the tree branch. A light breeze ruffled the leaves. Sunlight mades the crow's feather gleam black with a hint of blue. The crow looked to the sun, then looked away, enjoying its warmth.

Then something caught the crow's eye. Something so strange, so different. It had never seen anything like it. "It's so beautiful..." It was a butterfly.

The crow stared, mesmerized.

Once the butterfly flew past, the crow flew off as well, to its friends on a nearby tree. "What is that beautiful creature?"
"It's a butterfly."
The crow was in utter bliss thinking of it. "I...I wanna be with the butterfly."
His friend looked at him. "You can't..."
"Why not?!"
"Well....look at you two," he said as they turned their gaze to the butterfly in the distance, playing with the other butterflies. "You two are completely different. It would never be possible."
The crow sighed. His friend apologized and flew off for the sun was beginning to set.....

The next day the butterfly was fluttering about the flowers, landing on each one it found to be pretty. Her purple wings shimmered in the sunlight. "These all smell so lovely," she remarked.
"Not as lovely as you," came a voice.
The butterfly turned about and saw a crow flying by. Did it....No...Couldn't have... Her eyes grew big as she watched it fly away. "Wow. It's amazing...."

She quickly fluttered over to her friend. "What is that?"
"What's what?" she replied, confused.
"That, over there." The crow landed on a rock and gazed up at the clouds.
"It is a crow."
The butterfly stared, marveled.
"I want to be with the crow."
Her friend looked at her funny. "But you cannot."
"Why?!"
"Well...look at you two. You two are completely different. It could never be possible."
"But...." The little butterfly sighed. Her friend comforted her before flying away.

Two days later, Luck played its hand. The butterfly was enjoying some of the newly planted roses in the local park when the crow appeared in front of it. Both looked shocked and happy to see the other.
"Hello," the crow said.
"Hi," the butterfly replied. They both smiled at each other.
"I've seen you around." He hopped closer.
"And I've seen you." She fluttered closer.
They both stared at each other, silent.
"You know, I can barely breathe," she said as excitement consumed her.
The crow laughed happily.
"I want to be with you," the crow suddenly said.
The butterfly's little heart leapt with joy. "I want to be with you too." Now his heart leapt. "But...we're different...It would never work..."
"I...." he started. "...I know..." The crow admitted defeat. "Why did Nature curse us like this?"
"I don't know..." The butterfly was just as sad as him.
Again they were silent.
"We should probably never see each other again."
"Why?!" he asked, upset.
"It will hurt less this way," she said, choking back tears. She flapped her wings and flew off. He flew after her but stopped short knowing she was right.

~~~~~~~
Over a week later, Fate happened. The crow circled a grave yard for a while before finally settling upon an old tombstone. The canopy above shaded the grave yard, giving it a grey, somber feeling. The crow hopped around on the tombstone and looked down, gasping at the site before it: the purple butterfly was resting peacefully on the flowers set before the grave.
The crow was so excited that it flew down, startling the butterfly awake.
"Sorry to wake you."
"No," she smiled. "It's fine."
"I haven't slept in what seems like a century," he confessed. "I can't stop thinking about you."
"I---I---I can't either." Tears welled in her eyes.
"Then let's be together!"
"But we're different! Everyone says so! It's...." A few tears fell. "We just can't be!" She flew away, flew from the sadness and from the hurt of the reality.
The crow watched her leave yet again. "I can't take it. I have to have her!" He flapped his wings hard, chasing after the one thing he wanted most in the world.
Her tears kept coming. They flew back into the wind, a few hitting him in the face. He flapped harder; he wasn't going to let her go this time.
He closed in on her. Her tears were still falling as she flew for the exit out of the cemetary. He reached out a talon as they broke the sunlight barrier. His talons melted away into fingers as he gripped her wing, which also melted away, turning into a hand. He held it tightly. His feathers and her wings fell off as they continued into the light, their bodies transforming. They landed on the ground, their now human legs planting firmly in the grass.
He turned her around, her antennae falling off her head as tears streamed down her new rosy cheeks, her hair billowing out. He embraced her against his broad chest, his arms holding her tight. His beak disintegrated as his lips crashed against hers. She wrapped her arms around him tightly. He had his butterfly and she had her crow. They were not to be parted anymore.
~~~~~

The tears still fell, but out of joy now. He gently stroked her cheek as she stared deep into his eyes. They smiled at one another, their hearts beating and glowing with sheer happiness.

Nature found a way when it saw the crow chasing the butterfly.

Hand in hand they walked together through the dandelions, to the sunset of the summer sky....
