((sorry it's been a while folks. i know you've been waiting for more Mardi Gras story. just been very busy with college.))

A nurse came and delivered two trays of food. Maria removed the lid off the plate and took a big whiff. "Mmmm. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes." She licked her lips and Bryan smiled. She stuck in her knife and fork and before he knew it she had scarffed hers down like there was no tomorrow.
Bryan looked at her empty plate and his half-empty plate. "My god...You were hungry!"
"I guess so," she laughed. BURRRP! Maria covered her mouth in shock. Bryan burst out laughing, almost knocking his tray off his lap. He was kind enough to toss her his roll.
"Thanks. You're so sweet."
"Anytime."

"So...I guess you gotta get going home now..." she said looking up at the clock. "It's almost 10pm..."
"Well...I was thinking of staying." He set the tray on the wheeled table.
"Aw you don't have to do that. I'll be fine."
"Please. I insist."
"I'm touched." She smiled at him. "You are such a good guy."
Bryan blushed at her words and she blushed too. He flipped on the TV and settled on Clerks 2. They got about a quarter through the move when a nurse came in to retrieve the trays and to bring Maria more water.
"Are you staying tonight sugar?" she asked looking at Bryan. She had a thick southern accent.
"Yes ma'am." The nurse nodded and handed him a pillow and blanket off her cart.
"The handle right there lets the chair recline so it turns into a bed. If you need more blankets then just come out and I'll give you one."
"Thank you." The nurse smiled and left the room.
"You're so polite," Maria commented. "I didn't know there were any southern gentleman left." Bryan chuckled at her comment.
"I'm just being me."
Maria smiled. "I like it." That made Bryan feel all warm inside.

About 10 minutes later the doctor returned. "We're just gonna give you a little juice to help you sleep tonight."
"Oh good because my head was beginning to hurt again."
He nodded and pushed a button three times on her IV machine. "Goodnight folks. If you need anything just come ask a nurse or push the red button on the remote."
"Thank you doctor," they both said in unison. Maria and Bryan giggled at each other. They turned their attention back to the TV as Bryan reclined his chair. In less than a half hour Maria began to head-bob. Bryan laughed at her and she couldn't help but laugh back.
"Thanks for everything Bry.....an....You're so.....sweet......" And with that she was out.
"You're welcome," he whispered to her.
