"Mmmhhhhh," the woman groaned. Her eyelids fluttered open slowly. She squinted as the light struk her eyes. Bryan sat up in his chair that was near her bed.
She looked over when the chair squeaked. "Who are you?" she asked, her throat a little dry and scratchy.
"I'm--"
"Oh wait! I recognize you! I stepped on your toe, on the balcony" she laughed.
Bryan looked down and laughed as well. "Yeah. You did." He paused for a moment then looked up at her. "I also saved you from those men."
"You...you did?" she asked, shock evident in her voice.
"Yes. I saw and heard you looking for your hotel. You went the wrong way so I pursued you. When I got to you those men were mugging you. I punched them out after they did it to you first..."
"Wow...Thanks." She smiled at him. "My angel. My hero." She reached out and he copied her. She squeezed his hand. "I'm---"
"Ah, Miss Gallo, you're awake," said the doctor as he entered.

He smiled at both of them as the woman withdrew her hand from Bryan's. "I'm Dr. Ramsey. How are you feeling?"
"My head hurts," she replied.
"I bet it does." He stuck an x-ray up on a light board. He flicked on the light. "When you fell onto the ground, your head struck here." He circled a dark spot on the x-ray. "You have a bruise here so you'll be sore for a few days."
She looked at the x-ray then up at him. "So just ice it?" she asked.
"Pretty much. We're going to wheel you down to get a CAT scan in a few minutes to make sure there is no internal bleeding or organ damage."
"Okay."
The doctor smiled and she thanked him before he left the room.

She looked back at her savior. "I'm Maria."
"I'm Bryan."
