Chapter 4
Lucian's Story
Lucian,a young Half-Dragon in this time.A time where Dragons ruled the lands and monarchs lived in fear.Humans saw him as a threat,while Dragons taught him everything he knew.The most useful thing he learned,was how to control his temptations.
He was given a ruby,one known as the "Dragon's Ruby".With it,Half-Dragons were able to go into a Dragonic form.However,there was a time limit.They could only be a Dragon for two weeks,and they would have to wait a week for it to recharge on power.If you use the stone's power more than five times in a three month span,you will die.Lucian was always tempted to use the Stone whenever he could,but was always stopped by the Dragon that took care of him.
"But why?"A young Lucian questioned."Because you know your body cannot handle it,yet you try anyways.I am trying to teach you your own limitations!"A Dragon said with a stern voice."So...i m going to be taking back that ruby.""Fine..."
Lucian handed the Ruby over to the Dragon.Its name,was King.He was the dragon that had taught Lucian all he needed to know,he even raised Lucian as if he were a child.
Few years after Lucian learned his own limitations on his strength,he met a human,a woman,that hadn't seen him as a threat,but saw him,as a gift.She was in her early twenty's and Lucian was in his mid-twenty's.
"Everyone hates me but you...why?""Because...i find it interesting...that your father is a dragon and your mother is a human.""That may be so...but do you think that i am a monster like the others call me?""No."
And so Lucian fell in love.For the first time,a human liked him,and for the first time,he liked a human.They spent a lot of time together in the forests outside of her village,and near his Grotto.He made sure they didn't get caught by the Humans,for if they did,they would both be killed.
Years passed and Lucian and this woman eventually got married,and had children.Their lives were easy,hidden within the forest.He liked it,and she did too.Until one day.
"Burn it down!Burn the entire building down!Leave nothing behind!"Voices from the outside of the house said.Burning?But how did they find out?A torch flew into the window and the floors started to catch fire.Lucian was separated from his wife and child because of flames and smoke.He tried to rescue them,but in the end,he would have been killed,he fainted and saw a black figure in the sky before he blacked out.
He awoke in the grotto he once lived in,with the Dragon he grew up with,without his wife and son."What happened to them!?"He shouted as he jumped to his feet and ran towards the entrance to the grotto."No!Lucian!Calm down!!!"King said before getting up and following Lucian.
As Lucian reached the entrance of the grotto,he noticed smoke coming from where his house once stood.He fell to his knees,and wept like a small child.

"Sounds like you have had a pretty rough life Lucian..."Ven said after Lucian finished his explanation."Yea...i have...my life has taught me love does nothing for you...and it never will."Lucian then got up and started to walk away,but Ven grabbed his shoulder and smiled.
"You should join us on our journey...four is better than three and one.What do ya say?"Ven said with a smile,and then he looked at Erika and then back to Lucian.
"Yea..that would be fun..."
