Imagine living alone, in the middle of a clear, white, solid desert. The emptiness would be your cage, slowly driving you insane. Squeezing you. Bleeding you out. Imagine there to be no nights and just the sunlight, staring you down, laughing. Imagine you had no friends, no place to go and rest your head. Nowhere you felt safe. That the ground under your feet kept disappearing from under you. And that you kept falling. And crushing into that hot desert. And there was the sun again. "You are just dust" The sun would whisper in your ear. "Die already." And you would beat your fists against the soundless desert and scream. Scream but there would come no sound. And you can't hurt yourself. And the hard desert is soft enough not to kill you when you fall. Just you, and the sun. And nothing to do. The time would stretch forever. A day would grow to be a month. Nothing. No one. Just you. And the happy sun.
