::Alone::

She wondered lost, as usual. Nothing ever made sense to her in terms of direction, she only followed the scent of food, her blue eye's were filled with unshed tears as she thought of her mother's expression as her body lay torn and destroyed. It had been a few weeks sense then, a full moon cycle. But the disturbingly thin little female couldn't feel any better then when it all happened. As it was, she was only just old enough to eat meat, still too small for such a big world. The worst thoughts that filled her mind when she was especially tired, were those of the red eye's, the blood everywhere, and the awful look on that Male. She would never forget his scarred face, his fur was missing in areas and honestly he looked like the purest form of a vagabond. A diseased, dying, crazed loon...

Her mother was a lone wolf, Star was a beautiful sandy coated female. Her laugh was light, and she always held a twinkle in her eye's that told Faith just how much her mother cherished her, from what she had heard, it was rare that even a female lone got close to her offspring. Faith was lucky those days, she didn't know how lucky she was until it was all taken from her. She'd never forget the hungry eye's of that male as he took in her small frame, she had been chasing a lizard while her mother slept in the sun, a random spot she had chosen as always for that nap. If only she had picked a different patch of bushes and trees to hid in. Faith's ears went back as she recalled the male slowly stalking towards her, her whimper waking her mother so fast that she had been in front of Faith before she could really blink.

The crazed male had enjoyed his time fighting her mom, being twice her size. Faith had hidden in a tree hallow she had discovered earlier, it was deep and only big enough for one her size. She had fallen asleep in that hallow after the sounds of whimpers and tearing flesh had died down, her young mind thinking that her mother had killed the bad wolf and that she was safe. She woke up to her mother dead, the male no where to be seen, that day she had lost everything. Her momma was gone, her father she'd never known but he apparently gave her the pretty purple color's she had on her coat. The tears fell, she couldn't help it as her small paws ached and her stomach growled. She cried for her mom, and for herself, she was going to die soon and she knew it, "Why me.... w-what d...did's I do?" She whimpered as lightning struck something far above her in the sky, the sounds of a storm that would be so bad, her fur was standing up on the scruff of her neck though she ignored it.

She'd only caught one mouse in the past three days, and before that had gotten lucky enough to find prey already dead from anthers hunt. Now, now she just walked. Small, delicate paws left the only prints she felt she'd ever leave on mother earth. But in her pain, and fear, and loneliness she found a reason to smile as a little butterfly, blue and black, quite a pretty one, gently drifted down to land on her muzzle. She stopped walking, lowering herself to her belly as the butterfly just sat there on her nose, it's wings lifting slightly every so often. "I wish I's were like you, you can fly... I bet that's fun..." She spoke softly, her voice the sound of tinkling bells as it came out nearly hoarse from her throat. The butterfly stayed a while longer, but eventually it flew away, leaving her with a little hope as she chose to follow it's path.

It lead her to a field, the grass high and the sky open. Rain plopped down, growing heavier by the second, but it felt good on her coat as she curled up in the thick grass, feeling safe in it's gently swaying blades...regardless of the summer rain. Tomorrow, tomorrow would be a better day...
